+Alyssa Da Turtle true, however I consider power and volume two different things. I think you can incredible power behind a voice without being loud and vice versa
Your right, it is two very different things. I'm playing the part of Pinocchio in my school play and I'm trying to have power in my voice without a mic but I just can't seem to make it happen😂😂 it's pretty difficult to sing with a Pinocchio voice
Blondie 225 I know it’s a year late, but it’s nasally and comes back in the throat. At least for me. It’s quite easy for me since I’m a girl and I can get that high because I speak higher already. Plus since it’s so high, it’s like a piercing sound so you can really belt it out if you can get the voice down. The southern accent kinda just comes for me with the voice. :)
I had no idea until the end credits (I watched it on Netflix) that he played so many roles! I'm astounded by his talent! Oh my god! I can't believe how many things he did in this show, and how busy he was! And that he did them all well! Whoa. I agree, respect. Wow. Amazing, superb.
When I saw this recently, I fell in love with the character Pinnochio and how he and the others had to be like Shrek, as they pointed out. I really just loved the whole show!!!!! They deserve to win all of the tony's!!!
I love how this video explains everything that he does and how much running around he has to do. I knew he did a lot, but I never knew that it required that many costume changes! He's such a talented performer and it was a treat to see him perform.
Nicole Whinnett hahaha yes! I wanna see Chris so bad in ny =D he's in Matilda, and apparently it'S the best show of the year and I have only seen fantastic reviews and heard awe struck praises!
Man, is there anything that Tartaglia CANNOT do? Pinocchio, Dragon, the Mirror, Ave Q which is still a pretty huge thing..............also, in love with him too. He's funny and attractive
This is so helpful for people like me who are auditioning for this role so that we can get to know the character better and therefore perform it better.
I love what he brought to the character of Pinocchio and how he played him and how important the character is in the musical and his journey to accept who he is and how different he is
When he was onstage, I couldn't take my eyes off of him for long! He has the BEST expressions ever! And the only time I didn't laugh was when he had his "why can't I be a real boy" scene, and that's because it's a crime against humanity to laugh at a crying puppet boy.
OMG, Johnny was SO amazing! I KNEW he was in the Travel Song scene, but he had more puppets than just Puss. I think he also did the bunny (the one Shrek said looked delicious that ran off screaming like Rod), either the dish or the spoon (similar departure), and maybe the voice of the cow.
dude he was sooooooo good on stage and i knew he did the mirror but he also does the dragon AND PUSS IN BOOTS PUPPET....man this dude is soooo busy....wow.....he should get a tony next year..
I am playing Pinocchio in my production of shrek the musical! It is a really fun role, but I'm still trying to make Pinocchio voice sound as good as him
Yes, I finally get to see what John does with the Dragon! Feels like the Dragon is one of the most important aspects of the production yet they don't really talk about it in the interviews
So I was recently cast as Pinnocchio in a local production of Shrek the Musical. Rehearsals don't start for a few months, but I want to start working on the iconic voice. I don't want to ruin my vocal chords, but I'd like to be able to pull the voice off. Any tips?
Does anyone else just hope that their school will do this musical???! And hope they will be cast Pinocchio??? Even though I am a girl?!! I WANT TO SO BAD😫
top 3 reasons Johnny is my role model 5.3 yrs. ago I was ''The Real Boy'' in a show . 4. Shrek is my FAVORITE show 3.Jonny and the sprites was my favorite show when i was little.
When Shrek finds them all on his swamp. And they're all making jokes, like how the big bad wolf really isn't big and bad, and then pinnochio comes out and says "Yeah, and how I'm actually a real boy!" and his nose grows, and he just points at it and says "Uh...I have a glandular condition..."
John you are great as Pinocchio in Shrek the Musical we all love your accomplishments and goals so much you are touched the lives of people. the fans loved you all of Fairy tales creatures. we know this musical that you guys doit's great experience that we never forget.
He does amaze me! I remember when he did tv for kids. Then I researched him finding he has such broadway history then my child grows up and I see him in shriek broadway 🎭 proudly representing freaks which as some of us catch is a huge homage to gays surviving in our society!
I'm not trying to cause trouble, but if the Tony nominations were any indication of how the awards will go, nobody has anything in the bag. There were a lot of surprises already, particularly Rock of Ages' 5 nominations and Shrek/9 to 5 not getting nominated for set. I think it's safe to say that June 7th will bring some surprises. Let's just cross our fingers that it'll be in Shrek's favor!
Ha!After I got finished watching avenue Q clips,I saw this, clicked on it,and thought,"Pinnochio is awesome!Who is he?"Then I come to find out that its none other than John Tartaglia!
@artist2748 In the broadway production that is true. But for one time only he performed in this show in a different country- I forget which one- and in the behind the scenes for that he dressed up as a troll
It amazes me how much power he can have behind his voice even though he only sings in his falsetto. Absolutely incredible.
Well he does have a mic too

“You knew all along- you knew all along you were gonna put me in there.”

John Tartaglia is simply incredible. I have no words for how much I love him as pinochio! and his puppeteering is incredible!! :D
I know!!!!! =D and I LOVE Chris, too!
Chris is brilliant!!! :D and so is Sutton....
Nicole Whinnett hahaha yes! I wanna see Chris so bad in ny =D he's in Matilda, and apparently it'S the best show of the year and I have only seen fantastic reviews and heard awe struck praises!
I wanna see him playing Miss Trunchbull soooooo badly! If only...
Shrek
Man, is there anything that Tartaglia CANNOT do? Pinocchio, Dragon, the Mirror, Ave Q which is still a pretty huge thing..............also, in love with him too. He's funny and attractive
I thought I was the only who think that
What he do in the dragon I know he said he dragon by what specifically
I agree! I had a crush on him ever since I watched him on Johnny and the sprites! I still crush on him!
@@geniusathlete687He’s the puppeteer for the dragon
This is so helpful for people like me who are auditioning for this role so that we can get to know the character better and therefore perform it better.
FAVORITE CHARACTER OF THE WHOLE SHOW!!! :):):)
Plus I LOVE the actor!!! :):)
He does SO MUCH in this show and it is incredible. Never getting a break, but he gave it his all every time.
I love what he brought to the character of Pinocchio and how he played him and how important the character is in the musical and his journey to accept who he is and how different he is
HIS VOCAL RANG!!! O MY GOSH!
Pinocchio: Uh I’m not a puppet I’m a real boi! Love the accent! Sincerely: BroadwayLuke
john tartaglia is my absolute baby
hahaha Christopher's face when he's talking about being on johnny and the sprites
When he was onstage, I couldn't take my eyes off of him for long! He has the BEST expressions ever! And the only time I didn't laugh was when he had his "why can't I be a real boy" scene, and that's because it's a crime against humanity to laugh at a crying puppet boy.
I was trying to figure out how they got his nose to grow on que....
The video on this channel about costumes explains it
On.... avenue q? ;)
Lol, Chris Sieber rolling his eyes after "Make a Mess Troll" and Brian's daughter wanting him to be Pinocchio instead of Shrek! This show is EPIC!
"I have a glandular condition" -Pinocchio
Dont mind me. John is best. Hes just best. I absolutely adore that man so much
That's one insanely high note.
F# in the 6th octave is one of his highest notes
johnny and the sprites was a blessing to my childhood
OMG, Johnny was SO amazing! I KNEW he was in the Travel Song scene, but he had more puppets than just Puss. I think he also did the bunny (the one Shrek said looked delicious that ran off screaming like Rod), either the dish or the spoon (similar departure), and maybe the voice of the cow.

My respects!!! I LOVED him in the musical!
Me, too! He was incredible onstage, and he was SO nice offstage!
Johnny doing the air quotes at 1:57 is pretty much my life.

"Yeah, and those stories that say I'm a wooden boy! Hahahhaha...what?! Well I'm not! (Nose grows) ...I have a glandular problem..."
i LOVED chris' "make-a-mess troll" face XD that was a lot tamer than my reaction to that episode lol
Johnny, we love you!
His amazingness is making me dizzy
He's a puppeteer who played a puppet

I'm doing this play and I REALLY want to be Pinocchio. I just have to figure out how to talk like him.
He rocks! Pinocchio is boss!!!!!!!
The guy that plays shreck looks like shreck as a human 😂
Haha he does
If he had a child with Sutton Foster, it would be a god.
108 people are wood and good, and one person is not used to it!
