  • Vanilla farming in Bali shows the island off the beaten track, and tells the story of the most expensive spice in the word (after saffron). It's a story of farmers and of the hidden treasures of the land - not just of Bali, but of entire Indonesia. In our short documentary you'll see how Vanilla is grown, and what it takes to produce the highest quality vanilla bean. You'll learn what's the connection between growing high value crops, supporting farmers and ensuring that the rich culture of Bali keeps thriving.
This video is the part of the documentary series produced by Happy Bellyfish: "The Origins of Food That Matter".
Special thanks to Rex William Colerigh Sumner and Dwitra J Ariana (Dadap) from the Royal Spice Gardens, who shared their story. You can learn about the Royal Spice Gardens, their vanilla farms and investment projects here: www.royalspicegardens.com/

I’m a business developer who has always been fascinated with Bali on many levels despite never having the chance to travel there yet. I feel very compelled at this moment to reach out to that documentary producer/ farmer. Maybe there’s some beneficial work that can be done there to get his films into non domestic markets in a way that can benefit him and his family. Thanks for the share, hoping to hear back from you soon.
