I look forward to this every Friday. I have been watching it weekly since 2015/16! I don't remember the year but we are approaching a decade. Thanks Matt!
Tim Kuniskis is back!! I remember people saying he did great things for Dodge when he was CEO, I absolutely agree, so I’m hoping his vision will lead RAM back into a good state. I’ve heard nothing but good things from people in terms of experience with him. Stellantis is really in a poor state, and with Tavares gone, I’m sure this is the start for a good uphill for them. I’m not a Stellantis fan but Carlos Tavares really didn’t do anything good for this company at all.
He was CEO at Dodge for three years. The only thing that was new under his tenure was the Hornet. Unless I'm missing a lot of info, sitting back and saying "make another special edition Challenger" isn't exactly taking the world by storm.
To be fair, they said the same thing when asked about a Hemi in the JL Wrangler, then made a few modifications and are still on sale as a "final edition." Lol, I'm sure it's not designed for a Hellcat, but with it clearly being designed to work for Ev and Gas, i imagine it won't be too hard.
I’ve said this before on an older video, but I dont mind the inline 6. We never got the ford barra engine and that was a fucking riot. Dodge coming up with a new inline 6 designed for a RWD car? I’m all for it. Fuck the V6, if we can get an AWD charger inline 6, I’d be able to drive that in the snow!
Tim gives me not-self-aware middle aged dad vibes. He'll have a beer with you and help you shovel your driveway like the bro he is, but is just out of touch enough that he sees nothing embarrassing about his Dodge Brothers video.
Wunderbar! Another Episode of the Matt Maran Friday Night Car News Show - with over 30 Minutes of the latest topics again. Wishing everybody here a great day and a fantastic weekend ahead!. Enjoy the News!
Great session. I’m afraid the new Electric thing is a dud out of the gates. They need to rework the Hemi’s, aluminum block, try to make it more efficient. Wild to me that the Hurricane hasn’t made its way into the Jeep Grand Cherokee
The comeback of Mitsubishi lancer Evos would be surreal. I dream of a port injected turbo with electric rear wheel drive and a small buffer battery for a hybrid system
EU 2035 ICE ban: don't refer to the synthetic fuels thing as a loophole. A loophole is something that was overlooked by lawmakers, and this synthetic fuels exception is anything but. This was an explicit exemption and it's in line with the whole carbon reduction thing.
Mazda should keep producing many desirable affordable models. It has been working well for them for a long time. Key point of evidence: what's one of if not their biggest US seller? The aging CX-5. It keeps trucking on with well over 100k sales/year because it is very affordable for what you get.
Yeah, that hurricane engine will probably be a great engine. They can do all kinds of stuff with that. Hell they already got it pretty powerful and that’s not even with a supercharger on it. That’s just turbo. You think maybe they could supercharge and turbo charge that engine? That would be awesome to have both!
This week's update was filled with seriously exciting news! I'm especially excited to see what happens with Stellantis, Nissan, and Mazda in the future! 👍👍
The V8 lives YAS!! Listen, he wasn't bored (ok maybe he was) but they begged him to come back, and rightfully so. I hope this helps jumpstart Stellantis over all but the issues are deep and will take more than one hire to get into gear (lol). Tavares was thinking he was doing the right thing with all of these regulations and such, with most companies loosening on this now, he should have pivoted. Renault Turbo 5 looks amazing!
CRDJ patient bodies to Mexico to retro V8 to 57 they have to move the strut towers a little bit and of course the secret engine that I told you about the 4.7 Magnum twin turbo dual overhead cam variable valve
Because the companies that adapted made more investments and sacrifices to get that done quickly. The other companies that chose not to do that obviously saved a ton of money and engineering time and chose to pay fines instead or gamble hoping for the regulations to fall apart. Either way, it means that companies trying to play by the rules won’t be rewarded for that.
I don't think it's a matter of if the V8's returns they will . The Ram is easy 6.4 hemi and the hellcat hemi . What they do for a V8 charger?? I don't think it'll be a hemi. . I think they go with a variant of the Ferrari V8 and rework it for the charger or if that's a big if they really have the rumored daule overhead cam Magnum V8 .
Honestly there’s no reason to keep the current generation of hemi, if the hellcat engine won’t fit. Just start a new gen v8 for dodge/ram and build it to fit in the charger.
Why do you think America will see "little EVs" as you called them? With the current baby boom, the "little Mazda 3" ICE competition will more likely be 5-tonne 3-row SUVs.
The company better start finding ways to dump all that massive inventory no one wants and start building some dependable affordable cars that people actually want one or two new V8s won’t save them in this car market big hill to climb good luck
I hate Stellantis because every single one of my family and friends that have owned a Chrysler product has regretted the purchases due to abysmal reliability. Why am I even here? 😂
Agree that the Tesla vehicle is a sham. It’ll be another “well we couldn’t hit 30k because of” and “the range promised initially was only when we put a 100kwh battery” Tesla constantly lies and people let them get away with it.
Tesla is known to never meet their estimates. Not one product has made it out on time... its always been late or teased like it would be allowing deposits and whatnot, then didn't come out.
If people wanted V8s to stick around they should have voted accordingly in 2020. Now we’re in a position where we’re reversing course. Which is only made worse because in 4 years a democrat could take over and reverse course again. I think the best Stellantis could do is stop releasing anymore EVs and see how their current releases do-charger, wagoneer S and Recon. In the meantime, focus on improving the hurricane engines and hybridizing your entire line up and lowering prices while increasing reliability. Also, eliminate your premium Wagoneer, no one wants it and no one is buying a Jeep as an upmarket brand.
Looking forward to seeing the Valhalla all over the better L.A. neighborhoods! Dude, get some Matzoh ball soup, eat some oranges, and get some SLEEP asap!! (You can tell that cold is coming on strong!!! 🤷🏼♂️).
The v8 will come back...its the only option mopar has. But it may be too late with years laps of it gone and loosing customer base, unless they make some amazing release.
Hellcat no but the 5.7 and 6.4 might, the problem will the hellcat engine was it reqired top space but just leave it to the aftermarket and dodge should just say "not my problem "
To meet cafe regs. They should do a hemi hybrid ram! With cylinder deactivation. Edit. A dry sump oiling could help with fitment in the charger could help with packaging.
Matt, a Tesla Model 3 can be low as $35k after the federal incentive. The compact car will be a four-door version of the Cybercab. Like a mini Model Y or a hatch version of the Cybercab. It’s coming mid-2025.
Thank you for making these weekly updates Matt! This is my favorite way to stay in the know on the car industry
Thanks for watching them!
we want hemi V8
Lots of us want a new, modern v8 instead.
@@azizaladwani000 It is going to be a 4.0l turbo V8. Same combustion chamber and pistons as the new straight 6.
Thanks for the news Matt!
Thanks for watching!
Nothing will happen if they keep putting outrageous prices on their unreliable trucks

Tavares is still around. He got a seat on the BOD.
@ oh but still he was terrible as a CEO.
He was CEO at Dodge for three years. The only thing that was new under his tenure was the Hornet. Unless I'm missing a lot of info, sitting back and saying "make another special edition Challenger" isn't exactly taking the world by storm.
That Renault is freaking awesome! Those are the kinds of EVs we need to see more of.

I mean at this point there is no V8 for the Charger. Do we know if one would fit?
@@Michael-ur5qb should. It's wider and larger than the last gen. A 6.4 would fit easily.
I like good news. You do a very good job with your updates. That’s my favorite part of your show. Is the update Friday.
Major props to Hyundai and Mazda!
Tim gives me not-self-aware middle aged dad vibes. He'll have a beer with you and help you shovel your driveway like the bro he is, but is just out of touch enough that he sees nothing embarrassing about his Dodge Brothers video.
Great update! The new palisade looks great inside and out.
Vicks dayquill honey is great for a cold.
Was it really not feasible to make the hemi V8 emission compliant? Idgi

YEA!
Meh, doesn’t matter. That company needs billions on investment, which is more than they’ll ever make in profit.
Hope he improves the parts on the hurricane and bring back the hemi. We don’t need Europe when it comes to pickups trucks.
I dream of a port injected turbo with electric rear wheel drive and a small buffer battery for a hybrid system
take the 6.4 v8, put 9it in the charger along with a hybrid motor. Enhance some of the electric motor whine, boom, v8 with supercharger like wine.
I will be open to job opportunities...!
EU 2035 ICE ban: don't refer to the synthetic fuels thing as a loophole. A loophole is something that was overlooked by lawmakers, and this synthetic fuels exception is anything but. This was an explicit exemption and it's in line with the whole carbon reduction thing.
Just mimic ford and offer the hemi as an option. It’s that simple
That check must’ve been BIG for Tim to come back
Mazda should keep producing many desirable affordable models. It has been working well for them for a long time. Key point of evidence: what's one of if not their biggest US seller? The aging CX-5. It keeps trucking on with well over 100k sales/year because it is very affordable for what you get.
how about making a smaller displacement hemi
Yeah, that hurricane engine will probably be a great engine. They can do all kinds of stuff with that. Hell they already got it pretty powerful and that’s not even with a supercharger on it. That’s just turbo. You think maybe they could supercharge and turbo charge that engine? That would be awesome to have both!
And violate emissions laws in the process 😂, good luck with that 😂😂
Screw the hemi V8. Bring back SRT, and put that V10 in everything. I mean...EVERYTHING... even the Mini Vans 😈
Stellantis still has the tooling and could keep manufacturing the HEMI V8 but it's doubtful they will.
If they can't fit a supercharger under the hood, then make a new shaker hood for it
Mazdas ceo says that buy they added cylinder deactivation to the CX5/ CX50 and it’s been a rather large issue 😬
They need to update the hemi!! Make more power, efficient and weight less
Obligatory comment for the Al-Gore-Rhythm.
Another great Weekly Update, Matt.
Stay classy my friend.
We defo want affordable and reliable cars, whether its gas, hybrid, or electric. Even gas cars are so expensive now
the challenger name is still open....
We need more electric vehicles please
Yeah that mustang GTD time probably won’t last long with that new ZR1 coming out…

A redeye trx would be awesome
Tesla: you say a stripped-down Model 3 can't possibly be as cheap as 30k and developing a brand new platform would be cheaper for the manufacturer?
I WANT ME A GOOD HEMI V8
How would pushing Euro7 to 2027 penalize companies that have already adapted?
Because the companies that adapted made more investments and sacrifices to get that done quickly. The other companies that chose not to do that obviously saved a ton of money and engineering time and chose to pay fines instead or gamble hoping for the regulations to fall apart. Either way, it means that companies trying to play by the rules won’t be rewarded for that.
We want the 5.7, 6.4 & 6.2 hemi v8s.
Do I go with the "I Will Never Retire!" joke or "Tracksuit Matt" is Best Matt this week? 🤔
I don't think it's a matter of if the V8's returns they will . The Ram is easy 6.4 hemi and the hellcat hemi . What they do for a V8 charger?? I don't think it'll be a hemi. . Honestly there’s no reason to keep the current generation of hemi, if the hellcat engine won’t fit. Just start a new gen v8 for dodge/ram and build it to fit in the charger.
Save the V8s!!
That'd be the best thing to happen to Dodge and Stellantis.
Screw the 5.7 and 6.4, bring back the 426 Hemi again for the street legal vehicles
Why do you think America will see "little EVs" as you called them? With the current baby boom, the "little Mazda 3" ICE competition will more likely be 5-tonne 3-row SUVs.
What baby boom? Everyone is talking about making sub-30k EVs and at that price they can’t be big.
Stellauntis??
The company better start finding ways to dump all that massive inventory no one wants and start building some dependable affordable cars that people actually want one or two new V8s won’t save them in this car market big hill to climb good luck
Dodge could drop a new Challenger with a fresh HEMI and keep the Charger as an EV.
I told you Carlos Tavares that what happened and it did and Tim kuniskis when he first started he at ♈ then he moved up the ladder to the CEO
I hate Stellantis because every single one of my family and friends that have owned a Chrysler product has regretted the purchases due to abysmal reliability. Why am I even here? 😂

You buy a truck with a v8 for reliability and sound. Not a 0-60 time.
The angle of the strut towers are so intrusive, I can only see a 60° V8 fitting not a 90°v8
If people wanted V8s to stick around they should have voted accordingly in 2020. Now we’re in a position where we’re reversing course. Which is only made worse because in 4 years a democrat could take over and reverse course again.

Rumor has theyre testing a dohc v8, the upper trims with twin turbos.
It's very believable that only one guy wanted to get rid of the V8 considering how bad Stellantis is doing since announcing they were dropping it
😂
I still think Hemi is dead. A new more efficient V8 maybe. But they are probably betting on Trump destroying the EPA.
I bet a hellcat v8 could fit. If a long inline 6 can fit then the v8 could. Remember this car is wider than the last charger/ challenger
Looking forward to seeing the Valhalla all over the better L.A. neighborhoods! Dude, get some Matzoh ball soup, eat some oranges, and get some SLEEP asap!! (You can tell that cold is coming on strong!!! 🤷🏼♂️).
That Aston Martin is slower than a ZR1 and makes the same horsepower.

Noone wants a v8 hybrid either
