Thanks man, Skywatcher have actually been really good. I’ve just sent it off to be refurbished with the only cost being one way postage. So hopefully I’ll have it back in a couple of weeks. Cheers, appreciate it!
Thank you very much for this video! The comparison of the two filters CLS and L-Ultimate on the DSLR is really very interesting! I have a Canon 350D and I want to buy an L-Ultimate. However, I have a question. With the DSLR + L-Utlimate, is not too difficult to make the polar alignment with the ASIAIR, what exposure time do you use?
No worries at all! Glad you enjoyed it. I had no issues with polar alignment. I usually did 5 seconds for the first two pictures it takes, then 3 seconds for the adjustments to speed things up a bit :)
Hey Vaughan, the guide scope comes with rings and black riser bar you can see. It also comes with a seperate green dovetail but I mounted it on that green handle which I bought separately.
Thanks heaps! I knew I wanted to do a couple of reviews on some of my equipment but I wasn’t sure how the videos would turn out lol Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the feedback.
im personally a fan at the moment of thr 585 mc. i feel like its very good once u just slap noise Xterminator on ur end product , i;ve used the 2600mc 533mc 183mc and 183mm with nb filters, and the 585mc price to performance beats them on on a wide feild scope all day long
I hadn’t looked at the 585MC before. I think that would be a really good choice instead of going the modified DSLR route and with way less bulk. Processing has definitely changed the game of what you can achieve with much cheaper alternatives. Is that your current main camera?
You don't say the temperature of your canon camera was for the DSLR images, many recent canons include the temperature in the exif data of the raw file, and apps like ekos will put it in fits files as well. I have tested my camera for changes with temperature and the noise rises steadily with increasing temperature. Also I have found that with some capture software the camera temperature can rise to 20C or more above ambient, which increases noise a lot! I have taken to keeping the camera in the fridge before sessions to give it a good cold start.
Hi Iain, apologies for such a late reply. I've missed placed the hard drive which I saved my data to. But the DSLR sensor temperature was definitely around the 25-30deg celsius. It was a really warm night. With the high temperatures here, my camera wouldn't stay cool for long and then I'd have mixed temperatures. I'd rather just cop a uniformly hot sensor. Lucky for us software has come a long way in dealing with noise😊
@@prettyaverageastro7409 Ah! way warmer than where I am, for those in cooler a climate, a dslr should perform a bit better but probably not much in it.
Love this filter!
Great video with relevant tests and information! Thank you so much for sharing!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks heaps!
Fantastic results. Good work, I like it, congratulations.
Thanks heaps Nestor!
Oh man sorry about the mount getting bricked. Enjoyed the review!

Great video..👍 What's the name of the last picture nebula? Looks amazing 🤩
Thank heaps mate! NGC 6357 or otherwise known as the lobster nebula!
Is the ring you used to mount the guide scope integral to the main telescope or did you buy it separately?

Hey, just found your channel. - Very interesting video with great images. Would like to see more in the future. - subscribed! cs

Use noise exterminator on the DSLR image and u get very similar results as the image taken with the astro cam
Yep it's crazy how much software can do!
SCNR will get rid of the green cast on the 533 image
Perfect! Thanks for the tip mate.
