Yes it is not safe. We are about 1 hour east of Cotabato. We know people there. They got kidnapped when they were young and had to marry the Muslims. Higher up in their hierarchy, royals. They are old now, but that is what it is there. They say do not stay there, not over night, dont go restaurants, do not just stroll around.
@@peterhardie4151 you have no idea what the conflict with Muslims here was and still is. We are not allowed to go there and announcing it, you do not stay over night, you do not travel there at night. Roadblocks can get you abducted. You do not buy land there. Why is that? Because they are Muslims, they are Abu Sayyaf, MAUTE, BIFF, MILF and many more. They want an independent Muslim Mindanao and they hate and kill Jews and Christians. You were lucky!!!

Mindanao are compose of about 22 provinces and half of these are predominantly muslims in the Eastern and southern part are very risky for the foreighners especially Americans and Europeans namely Lanao Del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Maguindanao, Cotabato North, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Basilan, Jolo, Tawi- Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay all these areas a foreigner must take extra caustions in travelling and not good for living with the exceptions of few cities bur need cautions like Zamboanga city, Pagadian City, Dipolog city. The following are provinces where Christians are majority and are peaceful but need cautions. 1.MISAMIS ORIENTAL ( CDO) 2. BUKIDNON 3. 3 DAVAO DE ORO 4. DAVAO DEL SUR 6.DAVAO DEL NORTE 7. MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL 8. SURIGAO DEL NORTE 9.SURIGAO DEL SUR
Not all cities or province of south and north cotabato are harmful for foreigners,,, Im from north cotabato and my place is safe bcoz all people live there is all christians....there are some barangays that most of them live are all Muslims, even me I'm afraid to go in their places.
The western part is the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). He was kidnapped in Zamboanga, north of BARMM. It's best to just avoid that area and nearby provinces if you're a foreigner.
Stay safe. Just follow what the police tell you to do. If they come back and warn you again then you know something's up. If they ease up then the coast is clear.
We're a ways outside of Pagadian and 2 police officers came by and collected more information about me and my wife than I actually feel comfortable about having given, including taking pictures of us and our passports. They said it was because of the kidnapping. We had the same done at the Pagadian City Airport a year ago.
I gotta ask. What is with the guy at 13:55 sitting at the bench in the middle of that clearing?? Thank You for the insights! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
@@Philippinedreaming But what's he doing just sitting in the trees on a stool and a bench?: It's like he's an artist drawing or a customer at a bar :) Just different ;) Best Regards and Best Wishes!
If you live in ARMM or Zamboanga it is your own choice. We live in Bukidnon, we dont have police and we are all armed here. We also have curfew, have your lifelines ready and be aware of what MIGHT happen. Have your reputation, too. Dont always be nice, but try to keep up with your enemies. Make sure you can handle the consequences. Be aware of your surrounding. Dont go out and drink. Watch the bolo guys. Being safe is NOT a Feeling. Remember, you have the right of self defense, and your wife can register a hand gun, but keep an illegal too. Just a tip.
He is brit not American. So guns not his thing I guess. 😂. In any case, I am in Mindanao, iligan to be precise. From the day I came first in 2019, I knew this place isn't safe. Have been here a few more times and each time I feel less safe. Won't spend more than 2 weeks here. That's enough to greet family and GTFO. One time a group of men approached me in Robinson asking me questions. As we spoke they told me they went to study in the middle east.😂. Anyhow, I digress. Be safe guys.
@@Philippinedreaming Good thing!! Yes, the police here in Don Carlos said, you better arm up because we will not be able to reach you in time ever. You put signage up around your property, no trespassing, it is law after 3 months even the signs might be taken down. At night only bad guys come but obviously also at day. But if they do NOT come with barangay officials here, they will be target, they know.
@@bigbrother4ever Well, Illigan City is safe, maybe the surroundings not, since you enter what I consider ARMM, but my wife grew up here and knows. Yes the areas outside city are not safe. It is Zamboanga Land
It depends on the location my friend you go into that Muslim area of Mindanao and you're playing with your life just like you are in any other dangerous area in the world
What they say or don't say its up to you to interpret. It does not mean its definitive in any way or form. So, if the flood control guys say for instance to evacuate in case the dam breaks but it has not, will you then think it will not so you will stay? Of course not. Same here, they are warning you of the possibilities that can happen to you in case those thugs come in your neighborhood or not you will be long gone. If you know the area will and have a back door exit then stay, if you don't have a evac plan #2 get out.
It's true anyone that goes to a different country should blend to the surroundings not tried to stick out like a sore thumb. If ever you decide to live in Cebu you'll find that it's more money there everywhere you go not unless you go outside the city centre of course.
Hi iv had been told there was a foreigner and Filipino take a Grab taxi in manila city the driver didn't take them to there hotel location and started to drive a different way for long time and wouldn't stop the car after a time he stopped they where very scared on the highway the police pulled over to help.he was reported ture the Grab app . I dont have anymore details
I have no doubt that you have a better feel/understanding of your situation than I. That said, I can't resist busting your chops a little. You seem to have an intelligent wife. Add to that growing up in the area and women's intuition probably means you should weight her thoughts a bit heavier than normal and maybe do what she says. (add +1 pt with wife 😀)

In many of Eastman's videos he is walking around SHIRTLESS IN PUBLIC. Even though he married a Muslim woman, was he unaware that according to Islamic teachings Muslim men are expected to adhere to a "dress code" that emphasizes modesty and decency. While the chest is not considered part of the "awrah" (private parts that must be covered), it is still seen as inappropriate and IMMORAL for Muslim men to walk shirtless in public settings. Men who are world travelers know that old meme "when in Rome do as the Romans do." Regarding Eastman, he should have worn a shirt when in public, if nothing else out of respect for the Muslim people, their faith, and their culture. Instead, the Muslims saw him walking about shirtless and immoral. Side note: I'm wondering why his wife, who I assume is a devout Muslim, didn't tell her husband that he must wear a shirt and not to walk around shirtless. If she did tell him, but he refused to wear a shirt, well, then that's on him.
Local authorities told him repeatedly to stay away from that place for his own safety. He didn't listen to them either. It's doubtful he would've listened to his wife telling him to put on a shirt.
In my books, Marawi is the most dangerous city in the entire region of SEA. I saw videos of the city's siege a few years ago and I thought it was irak or something 😢. Now my wife is from iligan and I don't even feel safe there when I visit due to its proximity with Marawi.
The state Dept has warned about living in Mindanao for years...the Abu Zaief have kidnapped for years...my ex wife lived in a compound there and I remember hearing while face timing the Abu Zaief having an all out fire fight with the military....if you wanna be naive so be it but please don't tell people it's safe there. Even fillipionas that live up north know it's not safe there. Any third world country that has military patrolling the are regularly should tell you something
@steven9541 Does the State Department tell Americans to stay out of Chicago, Memphis, Trenton, Or Detroit. The country with crime stats that makes the Philippines look safe has a lot of nerve warning Americans it's not safe, but its own country is not safe. I'm 80 miles from Detroit 60 miles from Flint Michigan and feel safer in Mindanao Philippines.
Steven, does the State Department warn us about our schools? There are many more mass school shootings every year in the US than there are kidnappings in Mindanao.
@@michaelatoz580 This is silly talk. Do your American cities have an organised military insurgency doing kidnappings for ransom? Do they fight pitch battles with US military and seek an independent state. ? Don’t talk rubbish u
It is not because you have no money…ransom occurs because money can be given from your family members abroad to pay for your return. Don’t be naive that you can’t be kidnapped because you have no money. No one said you have to leave, but it was recommended for your safety and the safety of your family to leave for the time being. There will be a lot of activities involving the military and PNP along with U.S. officials involved to find the missing American.
they went to your place because that's the protocol. You are now safe. they are now on alert and the bad guys will avoid doing anything stupid. what happened to the american victim maybe an isolated case
Those kidnappers are frightened now because of the presence of police and military. Maybe it was jealousy/ some people upset with him that's why they shot him at first, otherwise if that ransom for money they have to keep him alive or unharmed.
He should not have talked about his business dealings on youtube, and secondly never lend money for interest. The other thing is he talked about lending out 30k, and building some covered building with benches, spent money on a peso wifi, a sari sar store, etc. I am assuming he was still on a tourist visa and should not have been working period The odd thing too is he wanted to leave, but said he couldn't because there was no money. Very confusing.
Ya it's not an advisable area to live according to the state department, but it's your life of course. The FBI are now involved in this guys disappearance, and no one has asked for any ransom, it's all a very sketchy situation. I feel for his wife and family. Any way look out for you and yours .
As a former US Marine,my senses tell me to stay the fuck out of the jungles. I've been here in Marikina city since May of 2020. My Filipina is a very big help keeping me away from trouble. We don't hold any type of schedule other than when she goes to work. We stay away from strangers. She has a few guns and that makes me feel better. I will not leave my family's safety in the hands of the PNP.
Where are you in part of mindanao,if you are in eastern part of mindanao ,davao gensan area youre safe, but if you are in cotabato, zamboanga then thats dangerous
youll never be in danger when you are a respectful person.. but when hes a pedo, his time was coming. And he knew it. Word gets around, they come looking for him. It is safe, he was targetted for the things he does. I dont have sympathy for pedos. I salute those who took action against him, whilst the ppl who knew him did NOTHING, and in denial... The police must interview all children who went to his residence. And see how far he went. Its a disgrace!

You meant Western
Im thinking of living in bukidnon .. Salamat
@@charlesHUECKSTAEDT-e8p how about iloilo
The western part is the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). He was kidnapped in Zamboanga, north of BARMM. It's best to just avoid that area and nearby provinces if you're a foreigner.
Stay safe. Just follow what the police tell you to do. If they come back and warn you again then you know something's up. If they ease up then the coast is clear.
Be careful ,,to that place. ,,
We're a ways outside of Pagadian and 2 police officers came by and collected more information about me and my wife than I actually feel comfortable about having given, including taking pictures of us and our passports. They said it was because of the kidnapping. We had the same done at the Pagadian City Airport a year ago.
Yes hey did the same here with me. Picture of me and picture of my passport
Just worried about others there might think it's a good idea to do the same thing. Most probably not as you are a humble gentleman.
Hello Perry, Just on the news now. Its not the Abu Sayyaf. The police know the suspects now. Nothing to do with kidnapping for ransom.
I gotta ask. What is with the guy at 13:55 sitting at the bench in the middle of that clearing?? Thank You for the insights! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Thats my wifes cousin hahaha
@@Philippinedreaming But what's he doing just sitting in the trees on a stool and a bench?: It's like he's an artist drawing or a customer at a bar :) Just different ;) Best Regards and Best Wishes!

Me too. I hope i hope for a positive outcome but i am doubting that
A UA-camr recently was kidnapped and shot. He was getting warned before it happens. Error on the side of caution. Play it safe
Just a tip.
Yes Andrew, I said this to my wife. Here is also safe. I think the police here do a great job and respect they came to see us.
@AndrewLander3 wisconsin hello .. im thinking of living in bukidnon .. do you have an email , so that i may ask some questions ? salamat
Walking round the streets of London these days is more dangerous than living in the Philippines!
It depends on the location my friend you go into that Muslim area of Mindanao and you're playing with your life just like you are in any other dangerous area in the world
Soooo true.,
Agreed Toby
Violent crime in London peaked around 1992-93, more than 30 years ago.
You couldn't live like the average filipino as a Londoner.
“If you hang around the barbershop long enough, sooner or later you're going to get a haircut”
Yes agreed
Beside in the muslim area in the Philippines, any place in the is safer than in US.
You are correct that is forbidden to deal with interest in Muslim society... even in his videos, he admits that the people disliked the guy...
When Governments warn of not going there, it’s not safe.
It happens in cebu
It's true anyone that goes to a different country should blend to the surroundings not tried to stick out like a sore thumb. If ever you decide to live in Cebu you'll find that it's more money there everywhere you go not unless you go outside the city centre of course.

If the police and your best friend (wife) has concerns and moving now is possible, then it would be prudent to move. Trust her gut.

Not for young Americans this is for retired or older folks past that flashy lifestyle prevalent is US . I'm happy here not in that area but deep south
I had one additional comment-which is a question: In your opinion, is Davao safe? Thank you
Yes Davao is very safe indeed
Move to Safe places

@@AicercuL15 Hello John. We will be around in maybe 3 or four weeks time for a catch up. Very kind of you my friend.
I think as the days pass we will find out more and ore
Wow. Too much detail for some religions. 😂. I stayed in a condo whose owners were Muslims and I was at my best behavior 😂
Local authorities told him repeatedly to stay away from that place for his own safety. He didn't listen to them either. It's doubtful he would've listened to his wife telling him to put on a shirt.
I feared the military than the NPA... (In my experience.)
When are you going to make another live mate
Maybe the weekend my friend
The PNP has not been to my house in Zamboanga del Norte
I think maybe out further in the province.

Yes, he rattles on about not lending money , low profile as if that will keep you safe. This guy is delusional
Cagayan de Oro is safe
they went to your place because that's the protocol. You are now safe. they are now on alert and the bad guys will avoid doing anything stupid. what happened to the american victim maybe an isolated case

May husband was curious if the guy that got abducted if he is still alive, what about the wife is she with him too?
No it was just him, The police said to us they think he is dead already. I hope they are wrong
Oh he's doing like 5/6 it's like stupid things he did to the local
Those kidnappers are frightened now because of the presence of police and military. Maybe it was jealousy/ some people upset with him that's why they shot him at first, otherwise if that ransom for money they have to keep him alive or unharmed.
What is a safe house?
Meaning just somewhere not near the mountains. Its still safe were we were but my wife wants to go into the city for a while.
@@Philippinedreaming Oh. Ok, I thought it was a special place.
