What he's asking is if that tells you where the wire is..... Then how do you know where the break is in that wire? It's just telling you the wire is there. I'm assuming we went till it stopped beeping but still doesn't seem reliable. How far away would you have to be from the live broken end for the tone to stop being generated. I would also like to know.

What instrument did u use to locate the underground wire? Can this be used to locate 12/2 electrical wire if buried around 1' deep.... HELP
