"I'm going through a Steve Reich phase"
i also was some time ago, now i'm out of that phase
😂😂😂
I keep going in and out of phase. Started listening to his stuff when Music for 18 Musicians came out. Keep coming back to him.
I'm going through a Steve Reich phase shift.
I hope this isn't a phase.
Beautiful tribute and Birthday wish to Steve! It was great to hear clips of him speaking about his own musical concepts and techniques. I’m going to go back and listen to my Different Trains CD which I haven’t heard in years in honor of his birthday. Thanks Nahre!
Thank you Rick!!
Different trains is the first Steve Reich music I heard, my father used to play it when I was a kid.. It's amazingly powerful and emotive
So funny and random to stumble upon you here, Rick! How about WMtSG - Electric counterpoint, 2x5 or Music for 18 musicians? :) Your fan, Martin
Cool to see you like Reich Rick!
Rick interview Steve!
Would love to see you do one of these for Philip Glass!

BAKER, 1ST AND 2ND WOMAN: Loaf of bread?
BAKER: I need bread!
GLASS, 1ST AND 2ND WOMAN: I know, I know.
BAKER: I need bread!
GLASS, 1ST AND 2ND WOMAN: I know. I know.
BAKER: I need bread!
GLASS, 1ST AND 2ND WOMAN: I know, I know.
GLASS: Isn't that a loaf of bread?
Moving faster and faster through the following speeches.
2ND WOMAN: Think.
1ST WOMAN: Philip.
GLASS: Need.
BAKER: Help.
2ND WOMAN: Think.
1ST WOMAN: Philip.
Philip Glass does the same thing over and over but changes his style like every decade.
When "How to Sound Like Nahre Sol"?
You do videos about how to sound like other composers
Yeah I feel like Nahre has a really personal style
is she a composer?
I agree with the sentiment, I like to sound like Nahre Sol
@@ANCMMX She is
Pretty spot on Reich impression..
Thank you!!!
You're the most aesthethic channel ever. Not to mention the mindblowing content. Def on my top three, together with adam and jacob.

Phil had to move, sore critic was throwing stones at the Glass house...

I have to admit, I was completely unfamiliar with his music before this video. I am now well in the third consecutive hour of listening to his compositions. I came back here to thank you for this! :)
So awesome!! 😀😀😀
I love how she's always challenging herself and the appreciation of other forms of music.(It's weird because i was just listening to Steve Reich:Variations for strings, woodwinds, and keyboards and Electric Counterpoint.
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
I dont think I even classify Reich's music as music anymore. Its art. Just pure works of abstract art.
How do make this "high art" music so easy to appreciate and enjoy Nahre???
You are such a great communicator.
Thank you so much, I appreciate it 🙏🙏🙏
this is the best lesson on minimalist music I've ever heard
Happy unbirthday to you
😀
Happy birthday unto you
Happy birthday to unyou
Unhappy birthday to you
This incredibly enchanting work and video essay are so important in so many aspects that I don't know where to start! As a composer, sound scientist, and true iconoclastic Steve Reich has been always representing every part of modernist art and his effect on the music we listen today can never be underestimated. All the movie and game soundtracks, sampling based music, tape loops, art rock, ambient pieces and everything has something from Reich's music and his art has been always new and I think it will keep that freshness forever, maybe people from the future will find it incredibly new and refreshing, too! He's certainly one of the great composers whose creative output has significantly changed the way we understand the nature of music and my life itself has been changed by its influence a lot during many phases! As Anthony Davis said: "The most important contribution you can make to the tradition is to create your own music, create a new music." and Steve Reich has always delved into the hidden parts of the wonder of hearing! To me, he's a brain scientist who knows every unknown functional underpinnings of the brain and can manipulate the sound and composition the way he wants to create transition and impact! Many times, I found myself in a different state of consciousness when I listen to his music... This spirituality, this state of consciousness... I can't thank you enough for introducing all of these groundbreaking artists by staying true to your artistry Nahre! I think as the young generation of the world we need every single enlightenment and understanding and as a great artist and teacher you always try to create this impact by enlightening people's artistic lives! To me, the music of our era is transported by that element that is the general determinant of life and this is change! Everything is changing and you're always willing to be a part of this change by preserving Classical music heritage and this is more than important and influencing! As always, I really love the final piece which at the same time, shows your personality when being reminiscent of Reich's dynamic music! Thank you so much Nahre! The future needs visionary people like you and their iconoclastic works like your original music! 😊👏🧠🙏🎉🤯🚀❤️
Thank you Bati!!!!!
The Mr. Rogers clip + piano hands ÷ steve reich = endorphins 🐬
When that City Sounds melody came in at 2:46 I immediately remembered 2013 Bluecoats

Nahre, this was really wonderful. Beautiful composition and I'm grateful to you for breaking down the different elements of his compositional style. Most of us probably don't have the background to identify and articulate them so this is a real contribution. Thank you!
Steve Reich is one of my music heroes, (I wrote almost the entirety of my masters thesis to his Music For 18 Musicians ) and your arrangement is a beautiful tribute to his style. Great channel!
Your videos aren't just a lesson and study of music, but of editing and visual language as well. Watching your channel has given me a better musical vocabulary, which is leading to a deeper appreciation of classical music.Thank you for these gifts, your work is inspiring.
It's so refreshing to see an analysis of some of the lesser known composers that I can really connect with. Thank you!

I had the luck of having a music teacher once give me a CD of Drumming by Steve Reich, changing my life forever. His music essentially taught me how to listen and gave me a ton of inspiration. Now I see why your style connects with me so much.

Your composition at the end blows my mind! I'm a huge fan of Reich; he's made a huge impact on the way I like to compose my music, but your ability to create in his style is impossibly brilliant.

Loved it!
Love this thanks x
great work as always , thank u .✨
This guy is like my favorite modern composer
Hello Ms. Sol, your piano and keyboard style and clarity is far beyond anyone else! I for one do not care about how to sound like some other guy. What makes your BRAND a unique is that your piano is unique and it is YOU, and it is one of the best. I hope I was not inappropriate in my language.
This was lovely. Thank you.
I saw Steve Reich and his ensemble perform once. At one point there was a problem with the sound system and after some discussion on stage Mr. Reich spoke to the audience with just his voice moving the air. He announced that given the absence of amplification they would perform a composition using wood blocks. They proceeded to fill the auditorium with the phasing poly-rhythms that you beautifully demonstrate. A local reviewer described the work as sounding like a "chorus of creepers." It was really good.
Was it music for pieces of wood? I really like that piece
All of your videos are so great dear nahre, thank you for sharing :-)
Thank you!!!
