  • This week Carmen is joined by Amanda as Kayleigh is working on her PhD this month. We dig into Amanda’s career as a knitwear designer and what it’s really like working full time as a designer.
The wine this week is a Spanish Syrah from Carmen’s Good Pair Days box called Topico.
    What are we working on?
Amanda has two designs she’s finishing up - one for Walcot Yarns using Fluff and one for our upcoming retreat using The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering. Also, she is wearing a slipover by Petitknits, the Stockholm slipover using Walcot Yarns Origin (Wild River) held with Isager Silk Mohair (100).
Carmen has her Pressed Flowers Cardigan on the go and is nearly done with the ribbing and she is wearing the Plump it Up shawl by Maxim Cyr in Fluff (Shadow) & Spincycle Yarns Plump (Rosy Maple)

Thanks for this episode. It was really interesting to hear about the changes in the life of a designer since the 80's and 90's. By the way, I wanted to say that Ravelry patterns are not all sold in US dollars. There are patterns sold in GBP, in other European currencies, as well as currencies from further afield, such as Australia. But I take the point that many, many are.

Fun and interesting subjects in this episode! It is the first time I "met" Amanda and I did not catch her last name...

How can we find and buy an Amanda designed pattern?

The Fibre Co has her pattern “Langstrath” knit in Lore. I knit it in Hillesvag Tinde and LOVE it!

You can find a few on Ravelry and she’s designed for the shop and Walcot Yarns and you can find those patterns on our website

I thoroughly enjoyed today's topic. So interesting. But, the traffic noise in the background was awful. Did you have a window open? It gave me a headache. I would have shut off, but found the topic so interesting.

Sorry about the background noise, the acoustics in the shop - especially when it’s a rainy day - are quite unique and we can hear everything from outside. Audio editing isn’t something we’ve become experts in yet but we are working on it!
