Lots and lots of practice over time...plus being able to slow down the songs using the VLC player also helps! :)
32! I thought you were 22! Good call on Deftones. I would enjoy some lessons from some key tracks om Koi No Yokan.
If I'm learning song for myself then I can usually do it by ear. If I come across a tricky section then I might write something out. But yes, I always write out the drums when recording one of my video lessons.

Great job It is perfect! But for acoustic users it would be worth noting that AT LEAST one of the two crashes are Splash cymbals and he does not attack them that hard! MUCH APPRECIATED THOUGH!

Ha ha! I knew a fellow Deftones "fan" who made a custom jacket that read "The Deftones" and it made me cringe every time I saw it. I didn't have the heart to tell him how wrong that jacket was.
