You could play the vinyl discs on a playing device (Pick Up), which had a needle with a diamond 'reader' that was lowered onto the disc to read the information stored in the vinyl discs' grooves. Vinyl discs were always two sided because even a Long Player disc would only hold about 30 minutes of music on one side. Single vinyl discs were much smaller though, only enough room for one song on each side, the A-side and B-side.
