Orc technology is amazing, it's entirely powered by their belief that it works. If there are enough of them they can actually stick oars out the sides of their space ships and row them like like ancient Greek ships... through space...
Well Warhammer both Fantasy and 40k are HUGE - like bigger than Star Wars. And they have influenced ton of modern settings/games. Star Craft for example was supposed to be 40k game, but GW didn't give Blizzard the license. So they changed a few things and called it Star Craft, but even then you can see the almost identical races and models. WarCraft was supposed to be Warhammer Fantasy, but again the same happened - no license.
You are only correct in terms of Warcraft. Warcraft the RTS was originally supposed to b a Warhammer fantasy RTS that became its own thing because Blizzard decided they want their own IP at the last minutes. The whole StarCraft supposedly being a WH40K game on the other hand was a myth that arisen mainly due to Warcraft's history.. This similarity are basically superficial at best mainly because both WH40K and StarCraft gains used the same source material as their sources.
Warhammer 40k is insanely influential on modern scifi, and was itself inspired by the book Starship Troopers (which doesn't even remotely resemble the movies).
I'm having trouble hearing you over the video you're watching, which sucks because I want to know what you're thinking about it. 18:04 Orks are the only ones unambiguously having fun in Warhammer 40K, since they LIVE for war. The Dark Eldar may be massively sadistic and masochistic, but they at least fear for their lives; the Orks barely even care if they live or die, so long as they are fighting.
Space Marines are treated as borderline gods. They are 850+ lb. naked and have 28 implants (some more or less) that help them heal, gain mass, and a variety of other abilities including: licking blood to gain the last memories of the creature, breathing toxic atmospheres, being borderline immune to poison, and giving them a preposterous lifespan. How preposterous? Dante, force commander of the Blood Angels, is roughly 6000 years old. Bjorn the Fell-handed (admittedly a Dreadnought but..) is nearing 11,000 years old. There was also a Salamander marine found that was around that age. Marines are fabricated, not born. They are created from particular people's, selected in one way or another, to gain the implants and rituals that make them. The youngest marine you will likely ever see is at least 150 years old. Any rank above Sergeant and you're nearing 500 to 1000 years of service. All that said, there is a more terrifying marine and that's the Primarchs.... the original 20 marines made by hand by the Emperor of Man. Of which, I think 7 are dead, 1 is completely obliterated, 4-6 are Demon Lords and around 5 are missing or uniquely out of the lore .. until they suddenly aren't. The only full bore Primarch currently fully awake and aware is Roboute Guilliman, who would be around 11000 years old, is about 2-3 ft. larger than the average marine is, and can seamlessly mobilize, order, and control hundreds of millions of troops. He is also considerably tougher and stronger than the other marines. Each primarch has unique traits based on the world's they went to (long story) but Guilliman's ability to mobilize and control vast armies and armadas is uniquely his. Other primarch's can tactically guide smaller forces but tend to have other abilities... like Leman Russ's death howl and raw strength or Rogal Dorn's impenetrable methods of defense.
Girlymans unique trait isn't mobilization lol he is uniquely a politician and knows the best moves to make (like making hawk boi the next emperor instead of himself because he understood exactly what was needed there). While Roboute is the only loyalist 'awake and aware' that we know of it's 100% certain the Lion and Vulkan are also awake and aware out in the universe they just haven't shown themselves yet. Nutshell version of the primarchs is as infants they were flung to different worlds cause evil space magic and that evil magic also caused corruption of their bloodlines which is why each Chapter has its own unique flaws. (Red Thirst for the blood angels, Werewolf type issue for the space wolves, etc.) This isn't a put down, thanks for sharing the lore with everyone!
As I can guarantee has probably been said. Basically everything was inspired by Warhammer fantasy and 40K. The lore is extremely expansive and there are tons of games made around the universes and based off of them. It's very easy to get addicted to 40K if you start to look things up. I'm surprised neither of you have played Space marine before.
