    I started commuting from the train station in Somerville, NJ in 10/2009. Workers had already started demolishing the train platform at that time. I don't take the train any more. But recently when I passed by, the platform rebuilding project was still going on. More than a year for a new platform, and still counting. Very impressive...

    Well, not to say it wasn't fast, but all the prefab parts didn't grow on trees. There must be hundreds of individual beams and profiles and manufacturing all of them must have taken at least several months (or a huge number of workers). Assembly is just the last part of the process.

    • @DivineAtheistWannabe
      @DivineAtheistWannabe 4 роки тому

      That part doesn't matter. What matters is the construction part of it imo.
      The materials are likely already sitting somwhere, whether they decide to make this building or not.
      I'm not an expert in construction, but I assume this helps to finish a project quicker and to reduce risk and costs of a long term drawn out project. If your project is 3 years long, you don't know what might happen during that time and things could go to custard for various reasons. No one can predict the future.
      If they decide to abandon this project before construction, I'm sure the pre fabricated materials could be easily used for a different project instead of having to commit so fully to it. And since it only takes 2 days to assemble, I'm sure things wouldn't change so much in that time.
      And also it's just more efficient to make something quicker. Saves on labor and less inconvenience to everyone in the general area, instead of having to walk past a construction site every day for hte next 3 years.

  • @alexusa100

    @batukhan
    If you watch the video closely, it took roughly 2 days to build the infrastructure (up to the when the top roof was settled), but then it took roughly 4 more days to decorate and touch-up. So both 2 days and 6 days are correct depending on how you define "finish building".

    Awesome work! I think some people may need help reading this video. Note there are two stopwatches shown in the video, updated every minute of the actual constuction time. The builders worked on shift. If construction paused for logistic reasons, the stopwatch would pause. The main structure was completed in 46.5 hours, the exterior work took 90 hours. The total net construction time is thus 137 hours. It's not a concrete building that you have to wait it solidify. Good job China Yuanda!

      Tod Wilkinson WTF. I'm American. I just think most high-rises from the 60s-80s are boring boxes, except for a few exceptions like the Sears Tower and the LA US Bank Tower. The ones from the Art Deco period, as well as ones built in the 90s and after, are better. It's just my opinion. Chill.

      Tod Wilkinson Oh yeah, I know that building (just not by name, until now) and it's nice. I never said EVERY 60s-80s skyscraper was bad, just that the overall trend was more towards buildings like, say the XYZ buildings in New York.

    I am not sure how long does it take to build the foundation in Hu Nan province. As far as I know, Hu Nan is definitely not a earthquake place. But generally speaking, it does take a pretty long time to build the foundation if there is any concerns about the earthquake. However I have to mention that the structure of the building in south china is very different from that in the northern part of China. Mainly due to the weather concern.

    這很棒的說,因為這個建築的部件都是事先在工廠裡製作好的
    在運到現場組裝,像是積木一樣又是說模組化建築
    需要龐大的大型機具,所以一般小型建築公司的話應該沒辦法吧?
    但是我希望這種技術能夠再度變更棒,應該還有進步的空間的
    希望未來的建築不需要人力也能建築,像是將所有的房子所該具備的地基
    預先就打好,一整片那樣子...然後具備能與建築合體的功能,就是能分開和組裝
    但不用再度作地基那樣子,只要像是拼積木哪樣插上去就行了
    模組化加上電腦控制,那些地基也可以插上其他建築,直接轉換成其他東西
    能這樣子就最好了,希望中國人能將這個方法實現,我是台灣人

    @CPURS111 是的,这就是预制式建筑,这次上海世博会远大公司用了一天时间建成了远大馆,他们在这方面确实走得很前。如果不能大规模生产,纯钢结构的建筑成本是钢筋混凝土结构的两倍以上,但如果能大规模批量化生产,这种模块化预制式建筑成本会降到很低的边际成本,远大的世博会展馆和这栋酒店都算是技术展示+广告,目的就是想让这种建筑模式被广泛接受。

    Everybody this is not a traditional building built with cement, so it's not like 'they built something in 2 days so it's bad quality', it's a new technology with new materials and new structure of construction which allow them to assemble every storay in factories and just pile them up in place. It's way more resistant than traditional cement buildings that China has.

    Although I'm not a fan of cubic space structures this is nevertheless impressive. Well done those people involved. Nice specifications too!
    I would like to know how many man-hours it took to assemble and how many man-hours to prepare the prefab parts.
    It might have been more impressive if it were a hospital rather than a hotel though. A hospital is generally the first thing to go in an earthquake it seems.
    All in all, impressive work. Well done!
