    I've done ground work a long time but unfortunately have a fear of heights. I wish I could do what you do. I do occasionally get a little air time in our bucket but my knees lock up on me like crazy when attempting to climb. Oh well... love your videos.

    • @Human1337
      @Human1337  7 років тому +3

      Look up (Operant Conditioning), you can totally climb. You just have to do it enough that your body learns that it's normal, and stops having anxiety over it. Nothing better than an experienced groundie starting to climb, they pretty much already know everything, tends to work out well for everyone.

    • @Human1337
      @Human1337  7 років тому +1

      Really just did that one slash cut blocking down the trunk, mainly because I was already starting to feel a bit sick and just wanted it done already. This wood almost can't be steered, so I was using alot of drop cuts, where I normally would have notched to pull one way or another.

    What do you prefer for gloves when cutting? I have ordered a few pair and have not found anything I really care for. The ones in this video look nice, not too bulky. Are they anything specific or just random work gloves from the hardware store? I like the dramatic slow motion at the end. Lol

    Gread video. Poplar is always interesting cuz it doesn't hinge so well.
    The last piece you tooke off the trunk before felling, was it just one straight angled cut, or did you do a cut on the front before the back-cut?

    • @Human1337
      @Human1337  7 років тому

      No, started feeling a bit ill by that point, just one straight cut at an angle, simple and easy, leaves a big divot though.

    human, what are your preferred gaffs and pads and helmet? im looking to upgrade my gaff pads because they dig in to my legs so bad.

    • @Human1337
      @Human1337  7 років тому

      I haven't tried a whole lot of gaffs, I've found that I love bashlin spurs with the opsal "cadillac" pads though. Much more comfertable than my stein x2's. Geckos are supposed to be amazing as well though, and that new pair that edelrid is coming out with this summer look amazing.
      I have a kask super plasma helmet, it's amazing comfy. Might have to try the Pfanner protos soon though, they're reviewed incredibly well.

      James Bailey rope thickness is irrelevant, use equipment that's for tree climbing/work and rated and tested for what you're using it for. That skinny line Human is using is strong enough to hold 4+ Humans. Know your tree and inspect your gear and do like he says, "stay safe"
