You would benefit if you use a bench vise to hold it while you punch out the old wood

Sledge hammer handles are easier than some axe handles. Your handle pretty much went straight in. Sometimes you gotta trim them down a bit. Anyways....I was just looking and you seem to have a pretty nice channel. I think ill subscribe.
