I loved the movie, and feel sorry for the actor who played Cyborg. He had to wait five years for people to see how well he did in the movie before the film was shredded for the time restriction.

I agree. I did not like Cyborg in the Josh Whedon version. At all. The Synder cut? Emotional impact caught me by surprise. I shed a tear with Cyborg's story arc and welled up when he helped that waitress. This is the Cyborg fans deserve.

Yup. What I gather from many people (the general audience and casual viewers friends) was they also wondering why cut out good scenes and replaced with lesser scenes. I think most of them were expecting the cut stuff were some very dark and dour scenes hence why lighthearted joke scenes were inserted. But they were surprised that they were character scenes or funny scenes too.

Meh, it was probably studio mandate to make it funnier. So he didn't really cut the scenes because he didn't like them, but probably because he thought "this is a point in the story where I can squeeze in a few jokes". The grave digging scene in particular comes to mind: it's a very good scene, but if you're on a mandate to make more jokes, a scene where two characters have to dig up a body is where I would go too. There's also the fact that they replaced him affirming his engagement to Lois with jokes about him being itchy or wooden boxes. But replacing a meaningful line about him speaking like himself again (and for the first time since he's been back; it's the first time she's heard his voice since she lost him) with a joke about his smell is also pretty dumb. I guess it wouldn't have made sense in Whedon's cut, since he has that forced "Do you bleed?" exchange (with the weird accent) when facing Batman.

I also prefer that they just talk underwater normally in the Aquaman movie, but as a counterpoint, I think the intent in ZSJL is that they need the air bubbles to talk to Arthur in English (presumably because he doesn't speak Atlantean). There are brief scenes where Mera speaks to the motherbox guards and it's in a kind of whalesong/dolphin speak. That would be hard to sustain for a whole movie, but it does make a kind of grounded sense in that language evolved for a thicker fluid medium probably wouldn't sound like everyday english. Like, I literally paused my movie multiple times while watching just to figure out why they cut it. Like seriously, why????? Especially Cyborg stuff. It made the while movie better and more cohesive. Like damn. I read someone say that Josh might have seen a really good Justice l ague movie written here and therefore decided to butcher it so that no one comes close to Avengers and these cuts really make me feel that way even if I know that's not the case.

In addition to the things everyone is saying (Cyborg, etc) I think the Themyscira fight scene was improved extremely.
In the 2017 version, it just seemed like the amazons were incompetent. It made the amazons look bad, and also didn't build up Steppenwolf, since he just beats a bunch of idiots.
But the 2021 version showed the amazons as extremely capable, and still failing to stop Steppenwolf. This built up the amazons more, and also established Steppenwolf as a real threat.
I think the value of this is kind of underrated. How Steppenwolf's first scene establishes him as a threat, compared to 2017 version, where he is just an evil guy who beats a couple of incompetent fools.

I must admit I was triggered by your admittedly brief mentioning of Wonder Woman killing. She’s a warrior! Ironman killed terrorists and nobody cared. Captain America, Black Widow...all of the Avengers kill and nobody cares. There’s no moral rule for Wonder Woman to not take lives to spare lives; she was a trained warrior and they were terrorists going to kill an all girls school at that!
I’m not even mad at ya but I get triggered by people having this strange rule where DC characters are “gritty edgelords” for killing but MARVEL characters can literally do no wrong. Shoot even Spiderman has killed in the MCU😅

Yup. Superman just should not kill people, period. Or if he does absolutely have to, then certainly not in the first movie in a franchise. And despite Batman's willingness to kill in his earliest comic book appearances, I don't think Batman should kill either. But it's justifiable to portray Wonder Woman, who was raised and trained in a warrior culture, as having no compunction to kill if she feels she has to. It's the interplay between her warrior prowess and her deep compassion that make her a compelling character.

This was absolutely night and day better than the 2017 version, but I had problems with the editing early on.
It felt like Zack reordered his own script because the way the bits played didn't flow smoothly. This was especially noticeable during the opening when Superman's scream affected all the Mother Boxes and then it cuts to Bruce looking for Aquaman. This takes place weeks if not months after Superman's death but the edit makes it feel simultaneous.
In regards to all the great ideas that were cut from the 2017 version, I can't help but think that Whedon purposefully sabotaged the movie. There's no other way to explain why anyone would leave out something great and add inferior substitutes.
