I REALLY hope DA4 shares the story tone with Tevinter Nights. We need to truly return to the dark fantasy roots of Origins. The world is beautiful but cruel and dark too. Realistic, dark tones set stakes and make the stories more meaningful and impacting.

I hope they throw in a twist like with Imfamous and we could side with Solas. In all honesty, turning into the villain is such an underappreciated concept in the gaming community. Just think if we could join the Executors, if you're an elf, or any other evil faction in the game and you could take companions who'd side with you and be made to fight the others who want to stand against Solas. That'd be great for replayability.

  • @foxracing8973
    @foxracing8973 2 роки тому +24

I actually really like the open world concept that Inquisition had. Although I loved DA 1 and 2 as well, they felt a lot more "closed-off" then Inquisition in terms of the maps/places you traveled to. They felt small and basic. I do agree about there being way too many fetch quests in Inquisition but I still wish they would find a way to still keep the open world concept in DA4, without it becoming kind of monotonous. As long as it doesn't turn into an Elden Ring type of open world play which I wasn't a fan of...with Inquisition's open world it still had the "boundaries" of each place you traveled to instead of the whole area blurring into one big map, i.e. Elden Ring.
Some things I would love to see in DA4:
First and foremost...Dorian. I hope with all my heart that they find a way to not only bring him back, but for him to be a playable party member fighting by your side again. I have never fallen in love with a character more than I have with him. 1 of the biggest reasons is bc I'm gay and had exactly the same issues with my family that he did and it was so refreshing to see a character not only go through what I have in life but also stand up for who he loves! Plus he is absolutely hilarious and his party banter had me dying in Inquisition.
Which brings me to my next point...I hope that DA4 has better romance options for a girl hero wanting to romance a fellow girl main character. No offense to anyone but I wasn't that excited about Josephine and I absolutely did not like Sera at all. If anything I would love the option to romance Leliana again like DA1.
More Morrigan/ Flemeth interactions and questions answered like if you choose to have a baby with Morrigan in DA1, whatever happened with it and her? What did Flemeth mean in Inquisition about how she never would've hurt Morrigan when Flemeth had always been sucking the life out of her previous daughters? More info on how and why Mythal came to Flemeth.
Finally, that they keep the aspects of dual wield rouges in DA4. This is my fav type of build/class I have ever played in any game. The combat skills, their fighting style, their armor, their dagger designs...all of which I totally love!
Sorry for the long post, this is just the only place I have to pour out my Dragon Age love since I have no friends who play it lol

    • @killagainkrow1254

Personally I think elden ring is the new standard when it comes to open world's and exploration but I do think that dragon age 4 would be better taking there world building inspiration from something like the witcher 3 we're rather than have 21 to 25 small little areas they could have three or four massive zones with detailed cities and environments one zone could be tevinter the other antiva and the last the anderfels.

i’ve been replaying inquisition and i’m not totally convinced Solas is ostensibly evil. i know he’s going to be viewed as antagonistic. but one of inquisition’s fatal flaws is it was originally written for a human protagonist. adding the other races was an afterthought. also most of the in-game lore is written from a human perspective. i’m rly hoping Bioware tries to unravel this perspectival divide rather than continue pushing a human-oriented narrative

What exites me the most is the story and characters!! One of the reasons I love Bioware games is because they are one of the best studios at telling stories that have great characters and Dragon Age is one of my favorite worlds if not my favorite altogether. Another special part for me is the world building, I love learning about the history of Thedas and the characters and stories that have happened in the past and I'm looking forward to learning more in the next game!!

I really appreciate the fact that you follow the DA devs. Every breath they take, every move they make, every bond they make, every step they take, you'll be watching them 👀 😂
I hope for more depth in the friendships in the next game. And the romance too, but mainly the friendships. I ADORE Dorian, and I would've loved to have a quest or a cutscene with him and my Inquisitor just having fun. I liked the cutscene you get with Sera when her approval is high enough where you prank the advisors and I would've loved something similar with the others. Just having fun together one on one. Like in Witcher 3 where you can get drunk with your fellow Witchers and, well, I won't spoil it I'm case some haven't played the game yet and I believe you have to experience it for yourself. But the same kind of silly camaraderie is what I would love to have in DA4

What makes me empathize with Solas is remembering that quest where you go a few years into the future at Redcliff castle. The thought of DA4 being playable no matter what stage of development it's in is so so so exciting to me! There is also an article from GameSpot reported that one major EA IP will be released early 2023 and I cannot stop thinking that DA4 has a chance of being that very IP. Like Final Fantasy has been able to focus on solo games, they have great online games that are specifically just for that multiple person experience. Lets keep the solo and multiple gaming experience separate. Nothing wrong with making a spin off of Dragon Age "Online" game. Elder Scrolls did it too.

    I would loove to see:
    - Seheron, even if its a DLC mission but i want to go to the island, see the Fog Warriors, get insight on the war, talk to natives.
    - Qunari Lore. What do their cities look like? Their children? Do they have dragon blood? Are they related to the Titans at all?
    - Clothing. What sets them apart in Minrathos? In Par Vollen?
    - Griffins. Theres even a codex that Griffin eggs possibly originated on Seheron so how cool would it be to find an egg in act 1, train in act 2, then ride in act 3!
    - PLEASE LET ME UPLOAD SAVE FILES OMG
    - Will Dagna find the answer to the 'link' between Dwarves, Tranquil, lyrium, and the Fade?
    - What happened to Valta? Did she find more Titans? Does she dream now? Wtf did the dwarves in Orzammar think? Do they know? Does the Legion?
    - Will any choices be made canon? Such as who is ruling Fereldan or Orzammar, Kieran being alive, anything from DA2. Or will those choices matter?
    - Choices in general. What choices are they likely to make matter and how? Ive seen dev comments that they want past choices to have consequences, but as a player, I really wonder how they're going to make it happen.
    - Please keep armor crafting!

I'm definitely still excited and chomping at the bit for more information this year (fingers crossed for a trailer!). More than anything I want to see what's going to happen with Solas and I'm super curious at to how our Inquisitors will be involved in the story. So far DA4 feels like it's going to be more of a direct sequel to Inquisition in a way that DA2 wasn't for DAO (and DAI for DA2), and I'm really interested in the future. I'm also so stoked to finally see Tevinter, and I really like the idea of the story being about not having power, as I think that will create a much better journey on the whole than Inquisition had, since you start leading the Inquisition pretty early!
You make a great point about the tone in Tevinter Nights hinting at a potential return to some of the series' darker elements, too, which I think would be really cool. Origins was super dark and I'm not sure I want to go *all* the way back to that, but Inquisition in particular felt a bit too high fantasy at times, so I'd like to see a better blend of the two.

i really hope that da4 takes the different origin/background intro for characters and expands it. Imagine a story where your race, background and even class affect how you have to proceed in the world and story.
Imagine a quest that forces you to complete it a different way due to your background. Like retrieving a stolen item. A noble human could go through proper channels and get it done quickly, but a commoner may have to go through more shady means to get it done.

i am writing a book inspired in the Dragon Age Universe, basically the last volume of the saga is a fanfic about Dragon Age 4
that's one of the reasons why I'm so hyped and excited about the game, i can't express just with words how excited i am
and also I'm so curious about what is Bioware going to do with the heir of Ferelden, I mean, they say they are making the game based on choices that matters so if i chose the Warden to be on the throne i hope there's a heir u know
i think dragon age keep can help a lot with the background of the whole history like it did in Inquisition (I hope you understand what i mean, It's hard for me to speak english)
also, if the Warden was close to Sten and they became friends, but the Qunari are invading Thedas and Sten is the new Arishok what is he supposed to do? I think Bioware shouldn't forget this details
another thing why I'm excited about Dragon Age 4 is because i want to see the game with the graphics and the technology we have nowadays, i think it will be so spectacular
sorry for the long comment, i almost write the Chant, and for my english🤣

It would be great if all the heroes from the previous games appeared in some way which I believe is possible. The Inquisitor is very likely due to their relationship with Solas. Hawke, iirc could still be going to the Grey Wardens so he might appear and the Warden is connected to the blight which in turn is connected to the black city/the evanuris so they (the warden) could have a role in the story regarding the blight, red lyrium or the darkspawn.

This is the one franchise that I'm still eagerly excited for after well over a decade since Origins. It's the most immersive series that I've ever played regarding in-game choices that carry into every single game going forward. It really is such a complex and grand story.
Now the things that I feel we are going to see for sure are:
    1. Solas, his plans, more fade/veil stuff, and more on the Evanuris of course.
    2. Something related to lyrium and the titans.
    3. The Grey Wardens, darkspawn, and more on the magisters like the architect. (And the oh so long-awaited return of The Warden. They know we want it; we know we want it; and I'll cry if they do it 😂)
I understand that everyone is excited about Tevinter, the Qunari, and possibly Antiva and the Anderfels, but the three listed points all occurred in Inquisition's DLC. According to track records regarding this franchise and Bioware, DLC has ALWAYS carried on into a major story point in the next installment one way or another. I honestly expect no less from the major things we were revealed in Trespasser and in The Descent. As for Jaws of Hakkon, it was just explaining the origins of the Inquisition for lore purposes, so I don't think it'll be as major as the other two in the next game.
The real question for me is whether or not to wait after release for bugs and quality of life improvements or jump straight into it. As well as am I still going to be an elf? My Warden was Dalish and my inquisitor was Dalish 😂 I need to change it up, but I just love the Elvhen in this universe.
(Edit) Oh and regarding the map, if mounts are still a thing, then it HAS to be open world and not smaller confined map layouts like Origins or DAII were. Especially if flying mounts (like Griffins, which I don't think they'll give to us) are a possibility.

I am of the minority that plays the multiplayer for inquisition more. That being said, picking the single player experience over multiplayer live service is a godsend for this game. I may be in the minority here. But I started the franchise with DAI. Then played DA2, and recently finished DAO. Having played in reverse may be the reason I feel the way I do. But out of the trilogy, DragonAge Inquisition was the best of the 3. I felt that the other two games were just too small. And tho I liked the story of both, neither compared to the hot mess of feels that Inquisition left me with. DAI has it’s hiccups, it’s a stunning game with a storyline that has it all. Drama, action, comedy, friendship, love, & betrayal. I cannot wait to see what DA4 brings!

Bioware has been a massively important part of my life with both ME and DA. And although I was happy to let ME:A fans enjoy the game for what it is, I was disappointed. Ever since then, I've been trying so hard to remain pessimistic, manage my expectations, not set myself for another big disappointment with DA4.
But you brought me back! I'm ready to believe that the team is having as much fun creating this game as we will have playing it. And the fact that both ME:A and Anthem released only 18 months after entering their production stage is absolutely insane, and I reminded I absolutely needed.

Seriously, when I see the lists of the lore interests you made at 13:00 I'm excited... But worried at the same time. It seems so much ! Maybe "too" much...
I mean, Thedas is a very interesting and dense fantasy world, but I got the impression that they add more and more to it while we don't have time to go deep on all this lore parts.
For ex : personnally, I still don't see the point of the seekers of truth. I don't the see interest of the Lords of fortune : ok they're treasure hunters - and so what ? Compare to slavery problems, countries invasions, giants monsters and the end of the world... Are they just here to connect to an "adventure" genre ? Would the Mortalitasis be more than an occasion to bring a gothic atmosphere to the game ? (even if it's cool)
If you look at it this way, even the Inquisition was a "waste of time" : it lasted one game and the world isn't so different before than after. The Inquisition was here to solve a problem that was new at the beginning and had disapeared in the end of the game. While we still have so many questions on deep lore aspects that were here since the first game like the elven gods, the wardens, the Qunari invasion, the Antiva crows, the Tevinter Empirium, the Blight, the (red) lyrium.
Hopefully we will have answers in the next game but, jeez, we would have had to wait 3 games (and many books) for it !
I just hope the creators will make all the elements incorporated in the game really meaningfull (they can do it ! I trust them on that)
Just like it is better to have a small and dense map than an open world full of nothing...
P.S: thank for having talk about the music ! DA soundtracks are AMAZING, they deserve the be properly valued and highlighted.

The point Patrick Weekes made about the game being about higher powers unwilling to address important issues always struck me as weird, because both the DA and ME games have always done that. In the first ME, nobody believed in the Reapers, then in the second game their existence was denied again and the attack on the Citadel was attributed to the Geth, and finally in the third game everyone was too focused on their own problems to unite against the threat. Similarly, in DA:O Ferelden isn't addressing the Blight because of the civil war, in DA2 the Viscount does nothing over the brewing mage-templar conflict and the tensions with the Qunari, and in DAI, nobody but the Inquisition is interested in ending the mage-templar war and fighting Corypheus.

I don't think I'll be excited for DA4 until we start seeing videos showing off the gameplay and some details about the story, which should be sometime soon. Mark Darrah said in a recent stream that BioWare was discussing the possibility of having the Hero, Champion, and Inquisitor importable into some kind of downloadable module or the Keep so they can be imported easily into DA4 right off the rip, but he also said just because they were discussing it doesn't mean it will happen. If BioWare did something like that, THEN I'd be excited. But if DA4 doesn't feature the Hero of Ferelden at least as a cameo appearance, then I won't buy the game. And by cameo I mean something more than Alistair in DA2, and less than Hawke in DA:I.

Tin Foil hat on for a sec, and given the current state of government in the US, I found myself reflecting on DAI and the actions all forms of nobility take throughout the game and why. Inspiration in regards to being without power or hope in DA4 might be better understood (as a storyboarder might do...) when looking at nobility quests and missions in DAI. Anora and Eamon to name a few - they both have their own struggles with the Templar/Mage rebellion. They both participated in Origins. Following the events of Origins, DA2, Inquisition and Trespasser, I am confident the political and social standing of governments in DA4 will be so drastically different and in tensions with situations and events we won't know about until we play, that the changes these governments make will be apparent all across Thedas. Maybe something is outlined in Inquisition that when paired with what we know after completion of the game (and perhaps DA2 and DAO/DAA as well) the shift comes from the impression left on nobility following the sum of these atrocities. Sequentially, the only people not noticing the havoc laid on all of these lands' peoples falls to a very few areas ruled by people we haven't met - yet... and I presume this will be who we engage with in DA4. We have met two individuals who have been all too aware of this shifting though. Solas and Mythal, both of which I might add - will be the curveball and center piece in DA4, I presume. But as for what will happen or why, and in what order, or how - we'll just have to wait with staffs in hand - unless red lyrium corrupts all magic and we can't use it... no please... Andraste no!
It's also interesting to note that as things change in the world of mortals, things are changing in other aspects of the universe of Thedas as well. The veil, the fade, political powers, choices - there is a reason it's all happening in the way that it is like the dimensional shadow of something greater taking place. I can hardly wait.
