    Andrew, you were on a ROLL when you did this video! That is absolutely the best explanation of "senior golfer" issues and how to do something different. I'm 76 now and thankfully I have always hit a draw. I never really understood my swing and how to make it even better, until I found you on UA-cam. I've shared your videos with my senior buddies, tool I'd love to see more of your short game expertise on the channel, just to learn more of your teaching in that area. Thank you, and please keep the videos coming!

    Wow! Yes, Wow! At 7:30 -- very key that I started working and helped a lot. Used to do the drop (gravity), or the pull down, and with this video started to push down got immediate better results in lag and ball speed. Made it easier to keep the left arm extending out and not in. Still have some range work work to get it correct and ingrained. Thank You!

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  Місяць тому

      Everything can be overdone Steve! But it could be a grip that’s too strong and or a club face that is too closed at the top that’s the problem!
      You need permission to rotate the golf club. A very strong grip or excessivley closed club face requires a different release pattern that is suited for a left to right ball flight!
      If the problem is worse with the longer clubs and driver in particular then I would check your grip!! Matching up the grip with the corresponding release pattern is very important! Best, A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

    I think a light bulb just went off! Thanks. I'm a 2 handicap 72-year-old struggling with pushes and pulls. My pro was telling me I was a bit too slow on starting my swing but he was also telling me I was not maintaining my hip depth. I think now that I have been concentrating on maintaining the hip first and the speed second. I"m out of sequence. Will try this next time out.

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  Місяць тому

      Maintaining your depth as you change direction is critical. Allow your arms to work down faster but keep your trail hip ‘behind you’ as you do so!! Your swing sequence will be great! 👍🏻

    Love this. Any chance you could address toe hits?

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  Місяць тому +1

      Start with the video below! There are at least 6 different reasons for hitting off the toe starting with something as simple as standing too far from the ball, and also from early extending or having swing plane issues.
      Rather than diagnosing a swing blindfolded. Give this a go! Your hands and eyes should be able to help you without over thinking too much!

I’m right handed but bat from left (baseball)… My forehand in tennis is absolutely money but I can’t transfer it to the golf swing… I borrowed a left handed golf club and find a more natural feeling… like bating/ double handed back hand (tennis). Tom, it depends on your swing pattern. If you’re a steep swinger then a draw release pattern is going to net neutral things!!

    I estimated the speed of the arms free falling using gravity would not be more than 20 miles per hour. So I googled it and found: If a golfer simply allows gravity to drop their arms, the driver head speed would be significantly slower than a normal swing, likely only reaching speeds around 20-30 miles per hour; this is because the primary force generating speed in a golf swing comes from the golfer's muscle power, not just gravity pulling the arms down, which would only contribute a small amount of acceleration to the clubhead.

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  День тому

      Spot on! Linear speed requires linear force which moves the grip considerably faster than gravity into the delivery position, before the grip of course slows down transferring energy to the club-head through angular momentum.
      You only need to look at the long drive guys to see how much vertical energy they ‘work’ through the grip in transition! It should be noted that gravity is however extremely helpful around the greens when we require slow ball speed to control distance!
      Placing that same linear force aggressively against the grip from inside 40 yards is going to work against you! Thanks for the salient comment! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

    I'm still ok now that I'm in my 50s. Lost a club length distance through the bag (5i used to be my 200yd club, now its my 3 hybrid), but my biggest issue now is my driver. From averaging 270-280y ten years ago, I barely hit 240 consistently. :(

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  Місяць тому +1

      Declining muscle mass, reduced flexibility, and not changing equipment are all factors for golfers going from 40’s to 50’s. Losing that kind of distance over a 10 year period isn’t as unusual as you might think!
      You often need to adapt your technique accordingly which is what I talk about a lot in my channel. It’s something I have had to deal with personally! The equipment is a really big deal that most golfers don’t realize!! Best, A. 🤔🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  Місяць тому +1

      You have a wide open club face! Keeping your back to the target helps the arms de elevate but you’ll need to either strengthen your grip or twist the club more to get the toe caught up to the heel at impact!! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

    Andrew you clear up so much of the discordant advice that we poor high handicappers get fed all the time. You nailed it by dispelling the 'let the club fall under its own weight with gravity with no effort" mantra or the swing slower to hit further nonsense ....It is BS-it doesnt work. I have a swing speed monitor and i cannot achieve reasonable clubhead speed (90+mph-Im 58 with bad bvack, knees and shoulders) ---without decent downforce effort on the grip and active cracking wrists. We are constantly told that if you feel like you are putting in effort the swing is BAD/WRONG. The boxed up right arm above my shoulder unwinding down with a wristy right arm throw down the target line to "home" is what gives me the speed but it feels effortful

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  Місяць тому +1

      I’m glad it makes sense. The gravity thing never made sense to me either, but the idea is very enticing!! Bottom line is that your arms will never catch up to your pivot if you use gravity! The long drive guys are placing insane force against the grip vertically as they change direction. No gravity there!!! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻
