I’m enjoying the narration. It’s at a fluid clear pace. The breath between Austen’s long sentences is needed to think about the meaning and readjustment that brings.
I love the reading of S&S and MP.
    Thank you for your work.

The more you read any of Austen's six novels, the more you get from them and Mansfield Park is no exception ❤️

Ms Austen's narative voice shows her that been a very keen observer of the people and times in which she lived, plus i liked that she did not use tools like Grammerly just pen on paper, simplicity! hooray!!!

Ms Savage is my favorite Austen narrator, the pace is perfect for me - any slower and Austen's wonderfully constructed sentences would lose all their wit!

It really helps if you listen to the text of the play, "Lover's Vows" that plays a big part in the plot.
You can hear the story and get to know the characters that each are playing. It adds extra depth to our understanding, as the original readers of the novel would have known and understood these details.
There are various uploads of the same librivox recording

I find that Ms. Austin does not keep track of the ages of her characters very well. In the beginning she writes that Edmund and his brother are 16 and 17, but in chapter 23 Mr. Crawford mentions that he will have seven hundred a year by the time he is four or five and twenty. Since Fanny is 18 that would make Edmund 24 right then.

Yes. Fanny and Edmund are 6 y apart and Edmund was 23 at time of Henry's comment

7:46:00 I don’t dislike Fanny, but her strong feelings towards Miss Crawford seem completely unjustified for me. Mary has been gentle and kind to her, treating her as a friend and always speaking her mind, never deceiving anybody as to what her intentions and understandings are. Fanny is indeed unjustified in her opinion of Mary and that is only because she is in love with Edmund.
I honestly hope Mary does not marry Edmund because is way too boring and she deserves someone who appreciates her entirely and will share her happiness in the world.

7:47:26 Fanny, my girl, you are a tad obsessed with Edmund. Broaden your horizons

I’m afraid I can’t agree. Mary Crawford is a vain and selfish woman who doesn’t deserve the attention of Edmund. Thank goodness he sees the truth of her.

Mary has the intelligence to separate Fanny from Edmund. Whether Edmund is worthy of either (very different) women is up for discussion. I like projecting Lucy Steele into Mary but with education, money and an intelligent sibling. She has no need for an equal fortune in a husband.

To be fair, Mary was much kinder to Fanny than either of the Bertram girls and the vile Aunt

I am very fond of Mansfield Park and Fanny. But what on earth ailed her ? If she had nnot been adopted, she might not have survived in her parental home

@@StoryClassics it's probably that either English isn't their first language, or they aren't used to the dense prose of this sort. Modern books aren't written this way. I wouldn't take it personally. Your reading is perfection. Signed a former professor and public speaker.
