@@thecriticalscholar8680 Yes, this is the second largest ethnic group in Uzbekistan. According to official data there are 3 million Tajiks in Uzbekistan, but according to unofficial data there are more than 10 million. Many people are not aware, but cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara, Termez and others are historically Tajik cities and predominantly Tajiks live there, although these lands now belong to Uzbekistan.
@@thecriticalscholar8680 Yes, there are. There are Uzbeks in Tajikistan as well. I think both Uzbeks and Tajiks are the descendants of Eurasian nomads. There are a lot of Tajiks in the cities. The reason is, in my opinion, the cities were established by the tradesmen who were either Persian/Indian or Persian speaking. Nomadic Khans were interested in having secure trade between India and Rome through Caspian and Black Sea, so they protected the cities. People talk about Silk Road from China, but the route from India to Black Sea was a lot more active. However, the real reason for Turkic expansion into Iran and India was the need to secure and maintain this trade route. There was no silk road from China until Mongol rule in China was established, and they forced China to open up for trade. Turkic Khans opposed the new route from China, which lead to Mongol invasion. Because of the hostilities between Rome and Persia, silk road to Mediterranean was not functional in ancient times also.
I think it's better this way, bc it can 'speak' to people from any region. That's also prob why the title & description appear customized, in the language of the viewer. To me they appear in Romanian, but I can tell it's a machine translation.

I don't want to comment on the cities, but yeah - they should have said "live" not "survive". This is not some extreme, uninhabitable region in the Arctic or something. They have food, shelter, water, electricity, TV, prob a phone signal & internet if they need it, and I'm sure you can find a town not far away. It's a normal Central Asian village life..

Seeing the donkeys bring down the hay reminds me of long ago when I lived/work in Xiaguan in Yunnan and I'd see Yi girls bringing down firewood from the hills on mules. The women wore a sort of green highly embroidered costume with a black cloth tired round their heads. They tended to live in their own villages high on on the hills. Yunnan had so many ethnic cultures: Bai, Naxi, Yi, Miao just to name a few.
Yes, Yaghnob valley people preserved their Sogdian language till our days (the rest of people lost their previous language and accepted new Farsi/Persian language and became Tajiks. I was their in 2018. Indeed tough life. Besides, in 1970-s main part of Yaghnob people were replaced to other region by Soviets (to cultivate more cotton and for development of new lands in plain).
