    Nice job Melissa, very nice ring. I was amazed how you can keep your hands in such good condition even while practicing goldsmithing. Congratulations!

    Beautiful ring Melissa. I don't have silver but I would use copper instead to practice. Thank you for another great tutorial😊.

    What size blade do you use in your saw for that gauge of metal?

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  4 роки тому

      I typically use about a 3/0-5/0 blade.

  • @pijnto

    Excellent video , are you happy using CA glue if I fix pearls I always use square wire and twist it, then use epoxy. I have had problems with CA coming adrift
    I have also been put on to a great tip for polishing small hard to get at places, ( new to me ) cigarette filters cheap as can be, just thread them onto a screw tip shaft.

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  5 років тому

      pijnto that is a good question. Quite honestly, I never use pearls this way and never use glue in my pieces, so we will have to see what happens. I was just following the instructions in the book. And that is a great tip about the filters. Thank you.

    AWESOME job on the video Melissa! What is the orange flux called and where did you buy it?

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  5 років тому +1

      Thank you Larry. It is Pripps flux. It is such a good firescale barrier. I like this one a lot, especially when combined with the boric acid wash. www.micro-tools.com/pages/search-results-page?q=prips?aff=8 I buy the 8 oz bottle.

    Wonderful trick! Also, I see you using the Green Lion Saw. I need a new saw because I hate mine! I’m going to order the New Concepts! I was contemplating the Green Lion... what’s your opinion?? May I ask??

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  5 років тому

      Gripco1 I really like them both. I happened to use the green lion saw because it was in hands reach at the time of filming. And right now, micro-tools (www.micro-tools.com?aff=8) has a really good price on the Knew Concepts frames. I will be doing a video coming up shortly comparing my different frames. But I really do like the Knew Concepts saws.
