      In this case the engine fire looks amazing.

    • @wruenvadam
      @wruenvadam 5 років тому +3

      That's what happens when the air exiting your engine is still subsonic. None of the nice, neat shock diamonds that you get with supersonic jets. It's not moving fast enough and at a low or high enough pressure to create them, hence just the pretty, fluttering stream of fire. Still produces thrust, but older afterburning jet engines were nowhere near as effective as new ones. Pretty to watch though, and especially on a beautiful old bird like the MiG-17.

    I believe that it would not be an exaggeration to say that then in the early 1950s our pilots saved the world from the third world war.The Korean air war in the first place showed the staff that the air blitzgrig against the USSR would not work.
    Actually, if our fighter aircraft had not shown itself to be so effective, amers could have launched a nuclear war against us already then. The test of strength showed that nuclear bombing of the Urals, Moscow, Kiev and others can be forgotten for a long time. Not the fact that before Leningrad would have flown. If we could not bomb the bridges across Yalu, we could not even dream of more distant and protected targets.
