I love how simplistic this is. So many 8-bit music on youtube uses way, way too many channels to even remotely sound like anything that would have actually been on a NES, this is probably the closest I've heard in a long time.
Technically, it is. The composer uses a emulated synth format called NSF, which contains the 6510 and Z80 code used to run the Famicom sound system. That said, there's often use of extensions like the VRC6, which couldn't be used on the NES, as it lacked the mixer input that the Famicom had.
If I heard this on an NES final fantasy game I'd have lost my mind. This is a flawless 8 bit rendition and finely distilled nostalgia from a contemporary classic. Basically I love this.
I'm sure if you gave someone enough time with something like RPG Maker or something, it could happen. I think it'd be a fun project to see come to fruition.
Idk if you know this game, but there used to be a mobile/pc online FF game named "Mobius Final Fantasy" (they turned off the game back a round 2019 iirc). One of the game features is online multiplayer, and it was a turn based game. So maybe that could give us some visions! Example video link: ua-cam.com/video/RsRpMzi0114/v-deo.html
The sliding notes actually remind me a lot of the original Shantae on GameBoy. 0:44 Especially sounds almost exactly like a part of the night theme. Great cover.
I never played Shantae myself, but I searched a bit to see if I could check on those sliding notes, and I'm actually surprised I never heard it before! It's a really nice soundtrack overall!
Hey there. Haven't made MIDIs, because in MIDI format, this composition did not convert to a good state. But there's a WAV and a NSF file on the video's description, so feel free to check it out!
Your words are very kind. Though I do not have a patreon at the moment, if the songs I create bring out a smile to whoever is listening, then that is enough for now. I truly appreciate your support, thanks!
Real nice remix! But it kinda annoys me that people make 8-bit remixes while using 16-bit sprites for images. There is a big distance between the sounds of 8 and 16-bits.
After listening to lots of covers of the soundtrack, I'm gonna say something people don't want to hear, this soundtrack is serious held back by its styling and mixing. Not the whole OST. It's still great, I just feel that at times it too modern Japanese muzaik with all the strings and choruses and such. I'm old school. I like the focus to be more on the main melody, bass, etc. than layers and layers of harmonies.
One of my favorite things regarding 8-bit music composition/remixing is precisely finding out which instruments/parts of song can be converted harmonically to simpler, more focused instruments. Sometimes, it can't be a bit overwhelming, I'm currently working on a project that has that many sounds and bits, and I can fully understand your point.
Great music. About the image though... Is it just me or do the Sisters look too high resolution compared to the player party to the right? Also, the Paladin is clearly the Warrior of Light. Black helmet guy looks like a classic Dragoon so that ought to be Estinien. But I'm having trouble IDing the other two characters in the player party. Help?
Pretty sure those are just standard job outfits all around. The party is Paladin, Dragoon, Bard and Scholar. As far as I know, there's no NPCs, especially among the Scions, that fit either Bard or Scholar, so I'm pretty sure it's just meant to be a standard party comp of players, rather than the WoL and their companions.
That's a good question, actually. I know that the most appropriate thing would be to use NES sprites, but I didn't think they would quite convey FF14's aesthetic really that well. Also, on FF14's website, the fankit available uses SNES-like sprites, so I ended up using them to create something akin to FF4's battleground. To tell you the truth, I even thought about customizing NES Mega Man sprites! (which is where most of my inspiration for 8 bit songs comes from), but I don't really know how to do that on GIMP lol
@@nathsfsongs Nah your sprites here are great, dude. The focus is on the music anyway, beyond that is just style choice which I think you've nailed. Keep it up!

Saaaaaamme. ;-;
Honestly wondering why more single player games cant be like 14.
@@KillChaos7 sounds kinda like Persona with party members that have fixed jobs and a protagonist that can swap to any job 🤣
So good, the background you used for this as well so great lmao. You should do more of these. EW had some real bangers.
Aside from the fact that this cover is cool, I also found it neat that you used the sprites of the Magus Sisters from FF4.
Yeah, FF4 is one of my favorite games of all time, it feels so nostalgic to see them again in Endwalker!
Fantastic job on this one. It's my favorite Endwalker song, so this is an instant classic for me.
No reason for 8-bit to slap this hard. Excellent work.
Damn this ff4 remake be lit af
This song is so badass, and translates well to "8-bit". Great work!
Excellent choice and amazing cover >:D
This is such a good vibe. And a good 8-bit cover that isn't ear overwhelming.
God, this remix is amazing! Great job my guy 👌
I had just finished FFIV when I started Endwalker. When I saw Cindy, Mindy and Sandy, I just about screamed. Then I heard this song, and I did scream.
This is freaking amazing! Someone in my FC posted this on our Discord, and we were all jamming out to it.
This song is absolutely fantastic! One of the best chiptunes I have ever had the pleasure of hearing!
You honor me with your words, friend. I cannot express enough gratitude for your appreacition :) thank you!
I need several albums of this sort of thing.
This cover has me entranced, I have it on repeat right now. xD
What a banger !!
Oh shit it's husky!
I love this! Who knew 8 bit could sound so good! Awesome cover!
You should listen to 1987's Megami Tensei's Death Match.
everyone knew that

Why does this remind me of a pokemon champion gen 2 style battle? Really dig it!!

Bro!!! Please do more!!!! Wow!!! I can't believe how much I enjoyed this!!!!! Freaking amazing!!!!!
Great cover! Very well arranged :)

Idk how I didn't find this earlier, I can close my eyes and picture it in an old NES title it's that good.
This needs more views!
This sounds so cool in 8-bit!
So sick!
This gives me strong Battletoads vibes.
Lol 8 bit dragoon looks adorable
This is fantastic.
20 bucks the dragoon is the first to be KO'ed.
The Dragoon's named "Florence Spector." I'm not taking that bet.

"At first you had my curiosity, now you have my attention" 🍷
Awesome job.
So when's the 16bit version?
I'd love to use SNES soundfonts to make something similar, but I guess I deal a bit better with 8-bit in general!

Would love this as a nsf file format download ☺️
Hello, and sorry for the delay! I'm not familiar with NSF formats, so it took me a while. Check it out on the video's description. Thanks!
