6/10
Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
I never thought I'd see the day Knocked Loose is on theneedledrop. You made it boys
ColTRON right? I came on here to see if the new Tool album was up yet and was surprised by this
Drcrumbs Oh shit, the new Tool album is out? Thanks for the heads up!
Also, on “Laugh Tracks” he gave some nice enough words about it a couple year ago, but it was one of the really short reviews he used to do, or may have been an YUNOREVIEW actually, but I remember him definitely not hating on it. Point being, he actually did talk about them way back when “Laugh Tracks” came out. ✌️
Same, I saw these guys in a bar years ago when they weren't big at all
They were on a short segment in a different video. He said something distasteful about Laugh Tracks haha
They were on a YUNOREVIEW, just search "theneedledrop knocked loose".

If you were on twitter you'd know he'd molested this album a long time ago :p

This band has incredibly good riffs. However their sound is definitely carried by Brian’s voice. The hardcore scene is dominated by lead vocals that you literally cannot distinguish from each other. Brian’s higher, breathier yells are great.
As much as I like all parts of the music the vocals are like a super-magnet to my brain. Love the intensity, especially on the Tear in the Fabric of Life EP
@@brandonsteele1138 Knocked Loose was a very early intro to deathcore for me in 2014 with their Pop Culture EP, and the first thing that was so appealing about them to me was how Bryan's vocals were literally terrifying to me. That only got better with Laugh Tracks with songs like Billy No Mates and No Thanks. Plus Isaac's riffs are so complimentary to the vocals.

Knocked Loose like my teeth after I asked my dad if this was djent
Lol it's 100 percent djent adjacent. They're low-key a successfully failed djent band if that makes sense haha. They smoked cigarettes and worshipped volumes like a lot of nerds in hardcore right now
@@HimFinancial what are you talking about? Nothing of this is djent lol. Low tuned guitars doesn't equate djent.
They're just a carbon copy of desembodied an the warriors.
@@crowing3886 check their old videos dude. They all rock volumes shirt and their drummer tries to play ghost notes before they play. They started during the rise of djent bands like periphery, meshuggah (at their peak), volumes, etc.

@@SDREHXC I really don't see how unless you aren't fond of breakdowns. The song structures are tight and transitions are great.
Khan because they aren’t anything groundbreaking and a 6 is slightly above average. It just seems like a fair score. I wouldn’t expect a music critic to enjoy breakdowns in the amount that they’re present on this album either, even if they are good it doesn’t make it less repetitive.

Anyway, these guys and Code Orange are gonna be huge.
They already are
Most of the Midwest loves Knocked Loose
Michael S they were nominated but didn’t win.
Code Orange literally writes WWE theme songs now, did a song with Corey Taylor of Slipknot and were nominated for a Grammy. Code Orange is about as big as any heavy band like them can be. Knocked Loose packs shows across the midwest and they even do big on the coasts and outside the US they may not get to CO's level without some kind of catchy image for the music press to grab on to but they Power Trip and Turnstile are the biggest bands in hardcore right now.
I recommend Fuming Mouth, they dropped a crusher of an album recently.

I feel like when you say metal core you should be saying hardcore since they more fall into that genre
The attitude is very punk, but at all, they inspirations are other metalcore bands like Hatebreed, Earthcrisis and even alternative metal bands.
They are like a revival of the 90s scene, who was wiped out when The Melodic bands become mainstream.
And also they literally use grooves and Deathcore/Metal riffs, hardcore never did that and continue pure
@@RibeiroGames12 Metallic Hardcore always did

Tool’s New Album is going to get a 6 isn’t it?😑
I first gave the album an 8, hearing it when it leaked. But after a week or so now it’s definitely a 9 at least. I really enjoy the filler tracks also, very cool shit.

Nate Fact

Billie Eilishes new album was extremely good though. Maybe just a little worse than this record but this was a pretty top tier metalcore album.
Ohh you expecting a non biased review of this album from a guy who praises deathgrips then craps on an album because of genre then will tell us all how the next taylor swift album is a masterpiece of its genre might as well have a spinning wheel with 1-10 on it you'd probably get more accurate reviews cause he obviously just giving these scores off the cuff then when people dont agree he throws out the genre tropes saying that it makes it feel 2D or more of the same and thats the weakest argument especially when you review industry marketed garbage albums and give them a 10 when 9 songs on the album are ghostwritten crowd pleasers the artist is forced to play
Over all i feel like hes just thrown it in the bin because he thinks scene music is (cringeworthy) and didn't wanna take full time to appreciate whats been done before he just writes it off as more of the same scene music its honestly hindering music growth and thats what pisses me off
this is legitimately one of the best albums of the year. it deserves at least an 8/10
Its so fucking good, can't stop listening to it
I personally was blown away, laugh tracks was a great album but with this they brought it so much farther. With a scene full of bands that we're good ten years ago, it's nice to see a young band break through with a really heavy weight record. Also for breakdowns, it's knocked loose, you're going to get breakdowns that aren't as interesting but it's to serve the purpose of the song and the album has a whole. I don't really listen to albums but this one I can't stop playing order, the samples, the lyrics everything about it just brought knocked loose into a new realm, setting them apat from evry other core band. 9/10

Really good review though, keep up the good work!
Hard Disagree there Fantoman, but I am glad you enjoyed the parts you did. Best of the best of this era's Hardcore imo. Some of us love the chug, some of stay for the party.
The best of this era's hardcore really isn't saying much
@@theXlegend17 I'd argue the genre is experiencing a bit of a renaissance with the likes of Vein, Code Orange, Knocked Loose, Dying Wish, Show Me The Body, and many more making significant waves in the genre.
armedwithmusic plus varials, godhand, dealer, last ten seconds of life, alpha wolf, kublai khan, etc.. Heavy hardcore has definitely increased in popularity for the last couple years
I think you’re forgetting this isn’t hc it’s straight up metalcore. Check out dress code, glue, gag, protocol, freedom, lower spices, devils den, odd man out, blood pressure, ekulu, fury, illusion, the pose, hoax, vile gash, bib, or true love if you are looking for actual modern hc of note.
@@drakemccomas2346 Anthony repeatedly calling it metalcore doesn't make it true. This record definitely leans that way thematically, but I wouldn't say there's any real "metal" riffs on this release, and IMO that's the real deciding factor. There's much more djent-like chugging, and heavy breakdowns on this thing than metal riffs. I wouldn't say it's wrong to classify this as metalcore, but I think hardcore is more accurate, and calling it "not HC" is straight up wrong.
"This is the best hip hop album of the year. It's like what all the trap metal rappers have strived for without the trap" -Melon 2019
I really enjoy the little, hidden details you put on every one of your videos, like the brown shirt symbolizing the album title and the “The Big Day” LP by Chance The Rapper on the background.
Very FAIR review! But god dammit, the energy of this album resonated with every bone in my body, hit super hard, and I appreciate that you brought up the execution being flawless. I know you were looking for something more interesting or outside the box musically, but sometimes its more about the feel of the music rather than the intricacy, but that changes from band to band for me as well, so I get it. I love this album.

@@HeyIntegrity HA no
Listing it as deathcore is a bit inaccurate. I feel how you could feel that, but as a fan of both metalcore and deathcore, it is metalcore-tinged hardcore punk, in the vein of a band like Beartooth. The closest thing to the "death metal" influence would be some of the really guttural growls. However, the metallic, despondent and distorted guitar riffs and brooding sound, as you put it, are much closer to the beatdown hardcore scene, or just the very rough-around-the-edges underground metalcore scene. But that's neither here nor there.
I personally enjoyed this record quite a bit. I gave it an 8/10, personally. I enjoyed that many of the breakdowns felt like they were coated in this veneer of flavor and spice. The vocals might be hard for some to get behind, but I think it really brought metalcore back to a 2000's rage that puts an emphasis on what one of the major components of the genre is: hardcore punk. I'll use the Beartooth example again...that ferocity in the vocal acrobatics. Not to mention those growls that recall the mid 2000's Metalcore scene with bands like August Burns Red, Asking Alexandria, etc. I also felt like some of the screams were reminiscent of screamo. Just me, though!
Thanks for the review, nonetheless. Was surprised to see this come up on my feed just a few days after I'd covered it, lol
