    Song is about the 12th army refusing Hitlers order to "attack the encirclement around berlin and take the city back" in order to open up a way out for the citizens of Berlin and the remnants of the 9th army to keep them out of the hell that was the red army.
    The US Army stab refused to let the civilianz and surrendering troops cross the river and ordered the troops to shoot anyone who tried to cross, but the commander in charge of the frontline where the 12th tried to cross made use of some obvious BS loopholes in order to let them cross over to the allied side and safety.

      One young soldier, who was a part of Wencks 12th army, was Hans-Dietrich Genscher. Genscher was the German Secretary of State in between of 1974 to 1992.

      It depend on the version. Some say that soldier went to the bridge with whip to keep the people away until the soviet dropped artilleries on the bridge and some US soldier got caught up so they took some distance allowing the civilian and soldier to cross. I don't see any loophole there.

    • @chrisc9769
      @chrisc9769 2 роки тому +12

      @@roftar the loophole he is talking about is an agreement between the American/ British side and the Russian side that the Germans could only surrender to the group they were fighting the 12th was fighting the Russians so couldn't surrender to the US/UK so the 12th took a shot at the US/UK so they could surrender but 12th were attacked by Russia at almost the same time which did kill some Americans on the bridge. So the US/UK pulled back leaving the river unguarded and the Germans crossed and surrender to the US/UK cause they were Technically also fighting them. That was the loophole.

      It's a music video about nuclear war. Combining clips from different movies and real footage. The band is Globus and the song's name is preliator and is in latin. I think it's a great and underappreciated music and video combo but it might be because Im really interested about nukes :P

    the german line, nicht ein schlacht, ein rettungsaktion, is technically incorrect it should be Nicht einen schlacht, eine rettungsaktion. it means This is not a battle, but a rescue mission.

    • @ffarkasm
      @ffarkasm 2 роки тому +1

      Why would you put "Schlacht" into accusative, let alone in masculine? Both Shclacht and Rettungsaktion are feminine, so it would be "Nicht *eine* Schlacht, *eine* Rettungsaktion, but that's still not good, because German uses negation even for nouns as well, not only verbs, so the correct form is: " *Keine* Schlacht, (sondern) eine Rettungsaktion".

    As noone thus far has pointed out, it is known today that one of the soldiers of the Wehrmacht's 12th Army who held the line for their comrades and civilians was 18 year old Hans-Dietrich Genscher whom Germans know better as the Foreign Minister who was instrumental in the German Reunification.

    Its a song about a group of damned soldiers who fight, only to give civilians a chance to get to the western allies on the left elbe ufer.One of this persons was my grandmother with my 5 years old father.After the war she found her luck in bremen ,northern germany.She is dying 20 years ago and my lovely parents left this place for 5 years my father and last month my mother.I never forget ,that my child(my little 4 year old princess), I or off course my father never exist, if this soldiers don't fight until the end,to hold the line.They know what they espect in russian prison camp and the can go the easy way to the western allies,but the still stand in in the trench.In Germany we learn that Europe together is the only way for peace and we never forget the dark side of the Holocaust,where people from our country do to childs or women,but my family don't forget this soldiers from the 12th and 9th Army too at the end of the war!History is never black or white and thats why i respect Sabaton for the work they get in the songs.i was 12 years soldier in an paratrooper batalion 314th in Oldenburg and 3 times in Battle Regions (former yugoslavia,kosovo and afghanistan)and i learning that people could be exactly brutaly to civilians in this time,as in the 2nd world war and this is so sad.RESPECT and GLÜCK AB to my US Soldiers Kameraden.Now we stand all together with france ,GB and so pn as Brothers in Arms🤛🤝

    The guitar solo is from Air by Johann Sebastian Bach. This is a perfect match to the story and the cinematic. There's Germany. A country with great culture, architecture, classical wonders, art and theatre. At this time they stood behind Holocaust, starting a world war. I almost want to cry to them : "You were my brother!" General Walter Wenck did the right thing. He didn't obey the order to fight til the end. To save lives was the decent thing to do.

    you should do Attack of the Dead men Live featuring RADIO TAPOK. RADIO TAPOK had actually done a Russian cover of the song, when Sabaton did it live in Russia not only did they have RADIO TAPOK there to sing it in Russian, but, to go with the theme, he was dressed as one of the dead men.

    The 12th Army's sacrifice was basically worthless because the British and Americans went and gave the civilians straight back to the Soviets, which was essentially a death sentence.

    The americans were on the other side of the Elbe. Watching this and doesnt allowed the germans to cross and capitulate for them. They falled back and let them cross when soviet artillery started to hit the army standing there.
    Just expect what it has to be.
    As american: Looking on the other side, seeing all these civilian, soldiers, waiting and just wanting to cross the river
    as german: Waiting, got declined t ocross, and simply look in the sky and hear the artillery shells fired upon you - till the americans retreat and you can fall back.
