Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well, and allows you to buy less and buy better.
This is awesome!
Hahahah thank you!
You forgot the classic:
"What do you mean there's no zipper"
Hahaha you’re right!!!
My Orslow 107 actually has a zipper
@@RecordSisi there are definitely raw jeans with zip flies but the majority have button flies
This video is unwatchable now.
This is great, it shows how selvedge denim isn't for everyone without being mean spirited or anything. This concept can work for many passions
Oh definitely! No hate at all, I love raw denim but I cant explain it to anyone else!
This was very, very, very good
😂 thanks man!
You have comedic potential too man, just unleash it.
"did you say weird guy?" This is the greatest video ever made about denim! We are launching out Dapper Villains custom denim service in Bangkok this quarter and I am going to send this to all the customers on the waiting list now, and make it mandatory for all future customers to watch.
Hahaha I can see it now: "Here is your mandatory homework"
@@CarlMurawski There will be a quiz, if you don't pass you don't buy. LoL
@@IdeaStudioBKK Thats the greatest marketing idea iv ever heard😂🤣. Pass the quiz or you cant buy - love it!
Classic. I spent a whole year obsessing about raw denim till I realised it was easier, cheaper and better just to buy regular jeans.
What is your favorite brand/style of regular jeans?
You can still enjoy raw denim, it's just a simple as buy what you like and wear them how you want.
But I will admit that there are definitely cases where a pair of stretch slim jeans are the way to go. Not gonna catch me on a long car ride or a flight in a new pair of raws.
Yep. I have a pair of cheapo Wranglers for garden work because this designer raw denim isn't actually made for yardwork lol
@@FilmaticProductions "this designer raw denim isn't actually made for yardwork"
Raw denim jeans were made for much harder work, like mining and construction.
@@NostalgiaforInfinity I have now seen the light and only wear 21oz Iron Heart for yardwork.
Shows how much I have to learn about selvedge denim, because once you started using boot terminology I understood every word lol.
Carefully researched, artfully, choreographed, and informative. This will serve as a great “soft” introduction to the world of selvedge denim with a nod to one of my favorite denim brands: Naked & Famous out of Canada.
I have feeling this is going to be a “gateway drug” for a few future denim-heads.
Keep them coming Carl!
I just discovered selvedge and this video might be 3 years old but TRUE. It's overwhelming! So awesome.
Glad it was helpful!
That sales guy has attitude. He could work for Gucci. My first time was in Tokyo at Hinoya. Despite some problems with language, it was a relaxing and informative experience. Oni, Sugarcane and Iron Heart - a great beginning.
Oh man. My first time discovering raw denim, I bought so many pairs from Gustin to Bravestar to N&F that all didn't fit after I started working out. I call that first wave a lesson. Now I know every last inch about myself when it comes down to fit 😁
weird guy, easy guy, and strong guy
Love that shout out to Naked and Famous
LOL this is so true I have a pair that I got that don't fit me sitting in a drawer. Because nothing makes sense. I'll stick to knowing about boots and shoes thanks.
I laughed the whole way through this. My struggle understanding raw denim when I first got into it 😂 I remember looking at sizing chart upon sizing chart, video after video, and soooo many different fit types. I got lucky on the sizing for my first pair (15oz Bravestar Reg taper), and have loved raw denim ever since. All I can say is buying the more expensive Japanese brands was a stressful Russian roulette of will it fit or not. I love my Momotaro’s but idk if I’ll be getting another for a long time. Great video. I actually watched some of your denim videos a good few times 😂
Reminds me of the first time I walked into a bespoke shoe maker after wearing off the rack my entire life till that point. First few questions were overwhelming then the person I was talking to managed to figure out I knew very little. I was freaking baffled. Good on him to turn the conversation as a discussion on lifestyle and preferences. They gave me recommendations and showed me examples to figure out how to proceed but before that, it was a technical spiel that made me go: Wait... what?
LMMAOOOO THE BOOOOOTTTTSSS , THAT KILLED ME!!!!!!
When I first watched this video was 5 months ago. It was when I first got into selvedge denim. I had NO CLUE what anything meant. 5 months later, and impulse buying a new pair of selvedge about every month, I finally understand everything in this video. 21ounce elephant 9’s in the weird guy cut and 34 size. I never thought I would understand the foreign language of denim but here I am
Hhahaha awesome! How are those Elephant 9s treating you?
@@CarlMurawski very stiff but getting there! Love the channel!
I literally just bought jeans dyed from trees. What happened to me
Thank you for the reality pill in purchasing raw denim jeans.
Definitely the best video made on the denim business,One can pick a lot of the jargon of the trade & with a tongue in the cheek humour.Carl is at his witty best. 👍
I’m dying. Bought my first selvedge jeans today. Watching all the instruction videos and ending on this one. I felt this video deep in my sole. Ha
You have nailed it... An Oscar is in the mail for you... Excellent job
Bro, This feels so accurate, I'm at exactly this stage of denim..
Lol. Loved this. This explains why I don't have any friends who are into raw denim.
Ha! After the third time I cleaned indigo stains out of my tub, I just threw my jeans in the washer. There was no difference.
Ah..but it's so worth it when you finally get to that Buttery soft body glove goodness.
I come back once in a while and watch this in awe of how funny, but at the same time, of how incredibly rational and logical all the denim options sound to my ears. 😂
Knocked it out of the park with this one! Like always. Well done!
Thanks man!!!
You are the Ryan George of Style!
Hahahaha
I'm just starting to get into raw denim but I am a total boot nerd already. I have 8 pairs of nice boots. I'm also in the heritage boot group ;)
When your quads are bigger than most raw denim wearers torsos you quickly realize this is one trend that might not be for you
I found this out the hard way.
Not even a relaxed tapered pair? My unbranded jeans are meant to arrive today?
This video was the best reality check I've seen.
Nice job
This was far funnier than I thought it would be! Weird guy Left-Hand twill for me. Going to research the cuffs now. Thanks
"does it have to be a japanese mill? " - ded hahaha
Isn’t that because Japan bought up all of Levi’s mills, which are the most high-quality?
This was very funny. You are the one who got me interested in raw denim.
Now even before I got my first pair I have 6 pairs on the way, the first is to show up today. Thanks again.
Exactly!
I changed my mind right about the same point as he did in the video when I went to buy mine.
For sure!
@@CarlMurawski Thanks for the reply!
:)
It's so much easier to understand and retain this info through a skit
Bravo!
I don't own any raw denim, but this did more to explain the it better than I could ever hope.
Man i wish i saw this before i bought my first pair. Super helpful. This is a great video!
As someone who was obsessed with raw denim for years, but not so much the esoteric and kinda inaccessible lingo, this had me howling with laughter
this is absolutely brilliant, Carl.
This is amazing... I'm sticking to Levi's!
I absolutely love this. Thank you!! Maybe one day I'll understand this video fully!
Hahahahaha lets hope you don't get this nerdy!!
After watching 2 mths of videos on raw selvedge denim, I decided NOT to get into it... but already have ordered 1 jacket along the way, shipped after a 2 mth wait. I won't be getting anymore. LOL!
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on UA-cam so far. Extremely well made, informative and funny. Great job 👏
Great video! I'll stick with the on sale Levi's for $30 that I buy once every 5 years and fit, look, and feel better than raw denim IMO lol
Not gon lie, for a regular guy the acting was on point hahaha
Lol!!! Thank you
i don't believe the other guy. He's wearing a Field Leather jacket, he obviously knows his stuff!
I feel like I was blessed by the lord for getting my pair of jeans so right on the first try.
Literally got my first pair of raw denim in the mail today. This pretty much summed up the research experience
Hahaha I think most people feel that way when they try it!
I loved this! Can you do a real video detailing the kinds of denim available? This was a great intro but I’m honestly curious what’s down this particular rabbit hole.
Definitely! I did a video called "What is selvedge" that gives some of the basics.
Not just fades... The journey is beautiful in its own way..! 😇
This has been me talking to the internet for the past few weeks
Greatest Most True Video out there on this subject. Funny video and very Accurate. Thanks for making my Day better Carl.
Take it from me had a tan leather sofa...my husband had transfer so much on the sofa. I made him sit on throw blanket got tired of conditioning the sofa trying to get transfer out.
Poor guy!!!
You switched it up here, but its still great content Carl. Keep up the good work 👏
Excellent work! You have great acting talent. Very good way to present the informatio.
Thank you very much!
I understood everything. Lol. This is funny.
Very cool video. Your a natural! From one of your many subscribers.
Haha, nice one Carl! can't wait for the boots one, make sure to ask vegetable tan or chrome tan, lol
you made an extremely important point here, the people who do not manufacture garments do not always appreciate: mordents do a great job, but they can only do so much.
I thought this episode was a little eh at first but actually enjoyed it and thought it was pretty funny.
Have you ever done a suburban Dad work wear episode? An episode about good quality work wear that won’t break the bank and great for Dads and the weekend home projects?
Thats actually a fantastic video topic!
I worked as a salesman for Levi’s and saw lots of customers. It seems that almost everyone fits in a 34x32. I’m 6”1 and weigh 170 and that’s what I wear. I’m willing to wager that Carl is dimensionally quite different but that size just seems to work.
I can fit in a 34 x 32, or at least I could after a year of bread and water in solitary, plus a little time on the rack to stretch me out..
Just under 5'9" and Im a 29 32. Pants shopping is hard
Pretty sure this is what my wife feels like whenever she asks me a question about clothes!!!
Glad I bought mine right after your video of the NC White Cone mills.
I would really like to see Carl bring in episodes that are geared more for guys with not as big budget want to get the best bang for him. Good solid well made quality classics for less than the big players, top dollar, designer stores.
.
I don’t know if it was intentional that the guy who isn’t well-versed in style would be wearing that hat, but it was a nice touch.
Thumbing Up, while going, "what the hell did he say?" Great Job.👍
So true, but that's part of the fun. TBH one wash, measured eliminates a lot of the unknowns...
So funny, I'm surprised something similar to this hasn't been done before.
Me too! I searched to make sure i wasn't ripping anyone off!
Love all the videos, but this is my favorite.
Hahaha awesome!
Here I am again seeing this and laughing my head out 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣
So funny! Very well done!
Thanks so much!
Really great video Carl!! It all sounds a little silly but it’s the best scene! I really recommend a great pair of Japanese selvage denim.
Men PLEASE get a pair of Vidda Pro Trousers from Fjallraven, they are amazing.
This is hilarious.
Ahhh, I love denim.
I should have watched this before I went to my first denim shop. My god.
I feel personally attacked 🤣🤣🤣 I loved this (especially since I just got my very first pair of selvedge this past weekend LOL)
Lol.... The silent responses are the best 😂😂😂😂😂
Hahaha!
Also the different manufacturers use different sizing systems. My Gustins are size 36 and my Bravestars are 34s. They fit exactly the same.
Lol epic. I have slowly waded into tge boot kingdom but so far have avoided the denim realm.
Haha, this is great. The leather thing is what has kept me from getting a pair. I have very light colored leather seats in my car, they have been stained by my wife wearing dark levi jeans that have been washed 100 times. I could only imagine what raw denim would do. But my next car will have dark leather, all for the raw denim!
I think you can change the leather seat covers. I'm not sure if it pricey or not. If it's around $100, it might be worth it
This is a fantastic video. Well done
Thank you so much!
The face at the end 😂😷
Great vid Carl
This was excellent Carl 🤣
Thanks!
🤣🤣🤣 The silent responses killed me.
That’s me right now. Great video
I will just order my denim cooked, thanks
Wow you're a comedian too. This was good and I don't even know half of what was said
Lol!!!
This is amazing.
mate every video you make I must watch hahahaha good stuff
Glad to hear it! lol
Uh, screw denim. I'm just going to Goodwill and picking me up some blue jeans.
Fun vid. Thanks Carl
That was a great video and yeah those damn denims are way too much of an effort to understand initially. I mean I get boots but denims really!!
I hear ya!!!
This was hilarous!
Haha very funny! I still go to the store and get the normal jeans i like it thats it, had no idea that actually exist all this crazy options, maybe i will be part of the weird guy this days
Oh the world of raw denim is vast!!!
This video basically encapsulates an entire year of my life before buying my first good pair of jeans lol
What brand of jeans did you end up buying?
I love this…now. A year later of 21 oz. raw denim.
Classic video! Very cool and informative and entertaining.
Embarrassed that I think that 1,000-page tome on the virtues of heritage boots is actually waaaaay to brief. 🤯🤣🤪
Lol! Thats part one!!!
I have a pair of tellasons that I seriously love
