I can recommend going to New Orleans, if only to visit Crescent City Books in the French Quarter. I texted my then-fiance now-husband to ask him if he wanted to move down there with me or be long distance for a while. 😅😅 I spent only $100 but felt limited only by the size of my suitcase.

Loving the Irish representation! Our rule for The Irish Readathon is you just need to read one Irish book to participate, so welcome to the gang! 💚💚

I I'm a big fan of Oliver Sacks and " The man who mistook his wife for hat," is a really good one to begin with! The "Star of love and techno," sounds intriguing , especially after checking out your first review of it!

I started rereading Sue Graftons's books a couple years ago. I read about 6 books per year of the series. I'm listening on audio on my reread and really enjoying it.

Ducks is soooooooo good! Last year I read a biography on Sacks and while I’ve read about half his work, I’m going to start a long term project to read all his books in publication order. I think I’ll start that next month though.
The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat was made into an opera. While you read it you should definitely seek out the music and libretto to see and compare the two.
Angela’s Ashes was so harrowing that I needed to repeat to myself as I read it that I knew he survived because he was writing the book. That sustained me to continue.

I have never been into re-reading. I have favorite books, but I think there will be more. So little time and so many books I want to read. 😅

The Tsar of Love and Techno went into my TBR immediately! I remember reading Angela's Ashes in high school, and it was one of my favorite assigned summer readings. I found the writing approachable and compelling. Happy reading!

Have a few books I reread periodically. It is time to reread Lost Horizons. I read it first in high school. I enjoy Oliver Sacks. I haven't read him in years. The man who mistook his wife for hat seems to be getting much discussion lately. Maybe I will need to pick up my copy for a revisit.

I'm planning to read Murder Is A Must by Marty Wingate, Foul Play At The Fair by Shelley Freydont, If Books Could Kill by Kate Carlisle, Murder by the Book by Lauren Elliott, A Botanist's Guide to Society and Secrets by Kate Khavari, as many mystery books as possible, Night Shift by Alex Finlay, Fight Like Hell: The Untold History of American Labor by Kim Kelly, The Bookseller At The End of the World by Ruth Shaw, The Dogs of Avalon: The Race to Save Animals in Peril by Laura Schenone, The Irish Goodbye by Amy Ewing, The Wild Stare by Bob McMillan, and as many Irish-themed books as I can possibly read as it's when I do the majority of reading them and I have quite the owned stack. I hope you have a great reading month.

Long ago, I loved The Man Who Mistook. I hope it holds up over time. I liked Ducks. I had a lil experience w/ temp work for big money in ‘male’ environments after college. I tend to enjoy graphic novels too. If you’re intrigued by the Canadian oil scene after reading Ducks, I highly recommend Fire Weather by John Valliant-nonfiction-which takes place in the same region. A winner of the Baillie Gifford Prize and a finalist for the National Book Award last year. 🔥🌲📖

I must say that the audiobook for Angela’s Ashes is truly exceptional. It is narrated by the author.
I am from Alberta, so I must sadly report that the ducks in the aforementioned book do not fare well. I am also a college basketball fan, and because of my location I cheer for Gonzaga. I am curious to hear if they are included in that book.

Ducks is great! I read it last year and was very impressed. Can't for the life of me remember where the title's name comes from.
I should probably do a reread of Angela's Ashes, it's a keeper on my memoir shelf but I do really love the audiobook too.
I'm behind on my feb reading after having a respiratory bug for over a week and not being able to concentrate, so I'm continuing on with that.
I need to find another nature writing audiobook, I have listened to two amazing Aus ones. Koala: A Life in Trees by Danielle Clode (she writes on some of the most fascinating topics, I have all of hers) and another fascinating one written by the eccentric A.J. Mackinnon, The Unlikely Voyage of Jack de Crow: A Mirror Odyssey from North Wales to the Black Sea- one of the most incredible travel memoirs I've ever read.
I love the odd mystery book, I have a 1950s copy of Death of a bookseller, I picked up secondhand, but it's written by a man with a completely different take, does make me think about trying it out for March Mystery Madness. Happy Reading.

I heard an interview with the author of The Antique Hunter’s Guide to Murder. They had a relative who was a part of Antiques Roadshow IIRC. They know their stuff so that sounds like fun layer.

Hi Olive. Question: do you have a video series where you compare your planned reading to your actual reading? Some of these planned reads look interesting and I'd like to know how it turned out in real reading life.

I love Angela’s Ashes but I don’t know what people found funny-his humor is a little dry I suppose. I liked his orher two books, Tis and Teacher Man better than the first
