Good message. It’s a tough situation for the custom ammo shops. Some put a lot of time into developing a load that shoots well in a lot of platforms so to give out the load data would be giving away that time. I’ve stayed away from the shops for this reason. One could ask if they have had their load pressure tested. And ask for the test results. That would give some reassurance that you are not getting a hot load. BUT they would need to do this for each lot of ammo before shipping. There are labs that will do this for you but it comes at a cost. Back in 2009 I was looking into starting a business loading ammo, pistol ammo to start. The amount of work involved in quality and safety control to do it right was a lot. Ultimately it was the reason I stopped pursuing the business. I only load for myself.
That cat meme saying oh no oh no oh no no no comes to mind. I totally believe it though. I bought a $600 custom 450 bushmaster ar barrel for hunting w 425gn subs. The thing came w cerakote covering the muzzle threads and about 2 1/2- 3" down the barrel. Also there was an uneven taper on the face of the muzzle job preventing me from installing any muzzle device. Sent the barrel back got the same barrel back w a 5/8(on a 450😅) but at least it had a 90deg stop. I was then told to shoot the cerakote out. And that's what he tells everyone. He never got another dime from me
Always a good reminder! Thx sir 👌
