  • Hi guys, in today's video we will take a closer look at the 42 presser foot set from amazon. Is it a good buy?

I just ordered a 42 pc set - have an older Singer (1981) but is a low shank model which should accommodate the feet. My only limitation is my needle does not change position across (left or right) but I have managed for almost 40 years without it - haha. My machine came with the usual basics - zipper foot, satin or applique foot, all-purpose foot and button foot. A few years ago I added a walking foot (what a great investment especially for sewing knits/stretchy fabrics). Looking forward to learning how to use the new feet and especially to have an overcast foot, darning foot and edge joining foot. Thank you for your video and look forward to receiving my kit in the next 2 weeks.

ROLLED HEM FEET - I spend 20 mins every morning practicing the rolled hem feet (I make a lot of goofy handkerchiefs) and it only comes out right one in every 20 tries. I've watched many tutorials that make it look like a no brainer but now I'm convinced those people are in league with the devil because only supernatural influence can make it that easy - I have the exact set you have - so at least I know we're using the same accessories

I have had no luck with the rolled hem foot so far, I'm inclined to agree with you.

I have the 52 piece set and I use them all of the time. Trying to get good results from a few of them.

I received this kit in the post today, purchased from a seller on Ebay, £12.99 nil postage. The idea came from watching an almost identical but 32 foot set on the craft channel HOCHANDA, sold by the Craft Yourself Silly company, but over twice the price, and not as many feet but came with a booklet which explained how to use each foot, which is handy and it sold out. They don't look the best made of sewing machine feet, but for the price you can't really go wrong. Instructions are definitely needed, as to use the feet you seem to have to use a certain type of stitch, and play around with the stitch width and length to get the desired stitch, some of which had me amazed.

I just bought the "52" size kit and the foot was crooked after installing the quick-snap adapter.
I had to open my machine and loosen the set screw for the drawbar angle to adjust it straight again and retighten.
I had to remove the lamp socket bracket to access this. I have an older domestic 808 so access wasn't that bad. But still. Could have been higher quality IMO.

I got a 82 PC kit! I decided to get a kit because my vintage Kenmore ultra stitch 8 I got secondhand only had a satin stitch foot!
The 82pc kit comes with a low shank (holder) and high shank (high handle presser foot handle) attachments so it should work with any machine
The low shank holder fits my Kenmore

Just to add, I believe that they can be used with ANY 'LOW SHANK' sewing machine.

I agree! There does not seem to be ANY info on these feet available anywhere! What do they do and how do you use them? Who knows!!

Came here looking for info on the no side gear whipstich foot. Seams to be just another overcasting foot with a guide. Maybe it makes a difference depending on fabric type ???

With this kit, what type of needles would you use? Do you use a Universal needle or machine specific needles (Singer, Janome, Brother, etc)?

Can you use them with an older machine? For ex an old pfaff 332 or an elna supermatic?

Hello from Miami, Florida. I bought a kit similar but not as many feet. I think mine was 32 different feet. I would definitely like to see how you use some of these feet because I've never seen them before. I guess the button foot is the most intimidating for me so that would be a great start for your series. Thank you for the video.

check your machine - the little screw that holds the foot on - if it sits at 1/2 inch - they will fit your machine

Does it have a foot that does ruffles? I just ordered it online and i'm new to sewing, so I'm not familiar with the names and it's use. Thanks!

The set that I purchased (and mine actually has fewer feet) does have a gathering foot. When I tried it on some medium weight fabric (a little lighter weight than a woven cotton) it did not work. I think that you would need to be using a very lightweight fabric, like a chiffon. I purchased some fabric to test it on but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet. You can buy a ruffler attachment for your machine, but that is a different thing altogether. You can look on UA-cam and find all sorts of tutorials on using a gathering foot. Good luck!
