  • 150cc on an interstate sounds fun they say! Well, that's a personal choice. In this episode I wanted to try something different and show you guys that yes, you can ride this bike on the interstate, but it's not something I do on a regular basis.

    Do you ride your bike on the highway? If so, what "cc' is your bike?

  • @MrNightro
    @MrNightro Місяць тому

    There are a number of engine mods available for your bike that will open up the speed on your bike. The "Limiter" you're asking about is the ECU which you can either have flashed or buy an aftermarket ECU to remove the limiter. You can also look into gearwheels, front clutch, back clutch, clutch bell, torq drive, aftermarket exhaust, unrestricted ignition coil, throttle body, camshaft, valve springs, larger CC block/piston. Really it comes down to how far you want to go with it.

      @@MrNightro Thanks for that. I was always curious about the limiter process. ECU eh? Cool. It's fast enough though. Appreciate the info for everyone to understand. 🙏🏼

    I went for south Florida, to northern Wisconsin, on all back roads on my Honda Goldwing Pulling a large Matrix Rover trailer, in four days, (never touching a highway once) a little over 1700 miles. traveling on a small bike is easy. (time is the game changer)

    I ride my ADV 150 almost every day in the DC area, about 30 miles per day. Roads and parkways are great. Today, traffic was bad and was going to add 20+ minutes to my trip, so I took the local expressways... I 395 and I 695. Exactly as you described, do-able but unpleasant. I don't like cars next to me at those speeds and with so many lanes (up to 6). Totally do-able for short distances or special circumstances. Nice video, thanks.

    Cycle gear has nice mesh jackets under $200. There’s one with the patches on it. I think Sedici. It’s nice and good price. Get some decent pants. I found some Kevlar reinforced padded jeans under $100 there. Go in there and look around. They have all kinds. My jeans saved me from breaking my knee when the bike fell on me. They really help.

    In California a motorcycle is 150cc or more. Must be 150cc or more to ride on the freeway. Under 149cc is considered Motor-Driven cycle. Mopeds in California are also known as motorized bicycles. All 3 require a M1 or M2 motorcycle license.

    I ride a 2021 adv150. I’ve only ridden it on the interstate once for about 2-3 miles and that was enough. I stick to backroads and urban settings for the most part. I really enjoy riding the ADV. I just wish the seat was more comfortable as I get a ton of back pain after an hour of riding.
    The one thing I love about the Adv though is that it is not much bigger than my wife’s Yamaha Zuma, which is only a 50 CC scooter, but mine has that much more cc so it can go faster of course. I guess I like the size of the scooter. I will say that it does struggle on bigger hills.

    Good video about 50cc and up. Interesting to hear. What is the top speed on your scooter if you had to test it on a racetrack?
    I rode Ninja 250R's on the freeways all the time, but those can go from 0 to 60 in about 5 to 7 seconds, and top speed of 105+ mph downhill, so I was able to keep up and pass traffic if needed, no problem with such a smaller engine. These days in the US, Kawasaki no longer makes the Ninja 250R but the Ninja 500 and up now.
    I see what you're saying about pushing the Scooter here to the limit on the highway/freeway being a bit too much versus all that fast traffic, but good to see your Scooter is capable of it. Nice riding.

    • @Trekopolis
      @Trekopolis  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! Top speed on this thing is 67mph and no more, not with standard parts. People have upgraded various components and I've read they can get anywhere from 70-80mph, but I don't need to go that fast or I would have bought a different bike. I'm perfectly content cruising around at 35-40mph all day long and to me, it's a lot more enjoyable. What's the hurry I feel. Riding a motorbike is supposed to be a relaxing experience and that's why I bought a smaller displacement, automatic bike. I've ridden many bikes, but this one is so easy and fun to just twist-n-go. It helps me focus on the scenery and not have to overthink the riding process. Hard to explain. People need to ride something like this to really understand or they won't get it.

      @@Trekopolis Great points, thanks Trekopolis. I feel that way too in more recent times, really taking my time more often, doing the speed limit and enjoying the scenery (while still being alert). I have a Ninja 650 '21 but I really like getting the most out of the fuel tank, getting 200+ miles range on the 4 gallon tank. Enjoying the country backroads is my favorite thing now. I tested the bike's limits but now am content enjoying a slower pace. Enjoy!

      More Details---
      Highway: This is the most general term. Any major road designed for fast travel between places can be called a highway. This could be a multi-lane road with a high speed limit, or even a two-lane road with some traffic signals. There are both US highways (funded by the federal government) and state highways (funded by individual states).
      Freeway: This is a specific type of highway with several key features:
      Limited access: You can only enter and exit a freeway at designated ramps. There's no stopping along the way to access houses or businesses.
      No traffic signals: Freeways are designed for continuous traffic flow, so there are no stoplights or stop signs.
      Higher speeds: Because of the limited access and no traffic lights, freeways typically have higher speed limits than regular highways.
      Interstate: This is a specific type of freeway that's part of a nationwide network. Interstates connect major cities across state lines, and they all have a shield-shaped sign with a specific number to identify them (like I-95 or I-70). So, every Interstate is a freeway, but not every freeway is an Interstate.
      Think of highways as all roads in a city. Freeways are like express lanes on those highways, with limited stops and higher speeds. Interstates are like the major highways that connect different cities across the country.
      Hope that helps!
