I had the 18 to 35 It had horrible vignetting at 18 mm .Still I would like to get the sigma35. If this one on the review has the same issue, It's not worth it. Maybe just the 35 mm prime would be the best choice.
@@Creepokemoner9375 Yes I was using the Canon 5D.l don't know about the 16/35 mm.l only had it for a while. But many lenses at 16 mm generally get vignetting , don't they ?

Im eager to test this lens out I own the 35mm art but do miss having wider focal range for certain things, this would cover 2 primes for me...the only thing putting me off is the weight! :-/
+cyberchickgeek how's the 35mm regarding weight? I used to have the 18-35 for crop sensor and it was such a tank. I've since upgraded to a full frame but have been considering the 35mm ART. Also got a 24-70 as a regular but I suppose it's fairly dependant on what you shoot?
+Dawn Kim the sigma 35mm art is not to bad weight wise, when I was upgrading my 50mm i chose the 1.2L over the 50mm art just because of size and weight, sigmas is too bulky, I made the right choice though its my most used lens
I bought this lens for my d750 last week and am having issues with focusing in low light. It's very slow to focus and sometimes misses the focus. Is that normal for sigma? I'm a birth photographer and need a fast, sharp lens good for low light.
If Sigma made an 18-35 F2.8 DG or faster I'd be all over it. I have this lens but have just purchased a Canon 16-35 F2.8, and looking at ditching the Sigma. The Sigma unfortunately doesn't go wide enough for my liking. I could of purchased the 14-24 f2.8 but that doesn't accept standard filters, requires 150mm wide and a special petal adapter.
I already have a 35 art... I feel like a 24 art would be a better investment? I really like low light / shallow DOF... thanks for the short review Jared!
Thank you for the awesome review Jared. I purchased this lens today and it just amazing on my Canon 6D ! I sold my 24mm prime and my other wide angle lenses because this lens covers most of my focal lengths. In South Korea here, they're having an opening special for this lens where you get the Sigma 82mm filter and the USB docking station. Thanks again !
Darn the ISO 800 of the test file is taking a lot with the noise. Why did you had to go that high and get a 1/640 and 1/400 shutter for 24mm ? I've heard that twice the focal lengh in shutter speed was around enough for handholding. Does that stand only for telephoto lens ? Nevertheless the lens really look like being freaking sharp. I'd like to see a comparison against a prime 24 and prime 35 since usually zoom lens are less sharp than prime. Thanks Jared.
I am amateur photographer, I shoot with Nikon D5100 since last two years. Now I want to do a one time upgrade for my next two years of shooting portraits and sometimes street photography. Do you think it would be a good option if I buy Canon 5D Mark III body with Sigma 24-35 F2 ART Lens? Please give me recommendations. Thank you :)
You're one of the first to hold this and review it. Actually probably the first. I'm considering this lens now. it looks HUGE though. definitely not good for street photography. I see this lens As being a popular wedding lens
I've problem in 50mm 1.8 lens. The apreture index in the lens is on 22, and when I want to change it to 1.8 the camera and lens never work. My cam is nikon d90 Could you help me
What would happen to the image quality if I put this on a gh4 with a metabones speedbooster? Aside from the crop would the depth of field change? Have there been tests? Images or video anywhere?
Nice review Jared. Also thanks for the 4 raw files. This seams like a good lens. It is so sharp. I really like the sharpness that comes out of this lens. Nice job Jared.
I've seen a few people use the 18-35mm F1.8 on FX. Have you tried it Jared? I'm thinking of picking one up along with a D7100, be nice to use it on my D750 too!
Steve Madden I use it with my D7200 and it is incredibly sharp! I have noticed very little to none chromatic aberration and I haven't experienced any flaws what so ever, let alone soft corners.
Mathias You're right thanks for clearing that up you too. Thought the white box like that was a "demo version of the store" and the normal retail ones on sale.
Neopulse00 From what I have seen Fro usually unboxes a regular retail version when it's in stock or one that he bought himself (as he did with his D4s). Camera stores are usually happy to take a lens out of the box to let you test it if they don't have a demo unit, at least that's my experience. And since Fro is a pro they probably let him fondle the lenses a little^^ But they did make him use hand sanitizer when he unboxed and reviewed the 200mm f/2 VR II! XD
24-35 seems like a rather strange focal range. I'm REALLY loving their newer lenses by the way. Absolutely fantastic stuff. I can't wait for their 85mm Art to drop.
For low light indoor events (e.g. dancing) I like to use my 24/1.4, but need to close down to 2.2 to get decently sharp images. So if this is good wide open and focuses well then it is more useful than the 24/1.4 for me because it will allow for better use of the pixels especially if I need to crop a little.
@froknowsphoto I have a very specific comparison request. Please send me a message if and when you can do this. Sigma 24 1.4 and 35 1.4 compared to 24-35 F2
AAAGGHHH if this had OSS it would be a killer filmmaking lens. Possibly replacing my most used wides: 24, 28 and 35. Still a great option as the OSS isn't _totally_ necessary, but man, that'd be great.
Thanks Jared for that video , i'm waiting for a real world full review from you . if that lens will be at f2 as sharp as sigma 35 f1.4 A at f2 , it will be my option as a wide angle . i prefer it on a 24-70 f2.8 , and i will pair it with a 85 f1.4 or 70-200 f2.8 vc as a portrait lens , those two (24-35 with 85 or 70-200) will fits all my needs , i'm not a pro :) and i have the nikkor 50 f1.8 , which i think if i get that combo , i'll give to my little 7 years girl , she'll be more happy with it than me .
Landscape artists are unlikely to find it that useful. We tend generally to use higher f-stops usually between between f8 and f16. And even cheaper glass has a sweet spot in that range that is very sharp. I suspect that the street guys will adore it though.

I remember your review about the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 for dx cameras and you were shitting all over it. Now there’s an ff version of exactly the same lens and now it’s suddenly the best thing ever. In fact they pretty much picked up an 18-35 and limited it 24 on the wide end so it doesn’t vignette and sold it as an FF lens.
We as photographers really need to start calling this the Sigma 35-24, not the Sigma 24-35. The backwards designed zoom is so hard for my muscle memory to reprogram.
This is what I like ! I saw your Video of the Sigma 50-150mm and I bought it. This lens is amazing...! I believe your statement about this lens!!!!!! But now, I don´t like RAW Talk, this is very boring. Make videos about lenses, Tips, Black Rapid, 5 Min Shootings, e.g. this is really good.
This seems like a pretty bold and potentially pointless move from Sigma to me. People love their fast primes! I doubt anyone would replace their primes with this short lens. I wouldn't!
Perhaps you wouldn't if you had some nice f/1.4 glass, especially since such a wide aperture comes at a rather steep price (upwards of US$1,000 per focal length, in some cases). If you're like me and you have f/1.8 primes, this solves a problem and you'd only lose 1/3 stop of light for the convenience. From a Nikon perspective, this lens is only a few hundred bucks more than buying a 28mm f/1.8G or a 35mm f/1.8G. Unless you really need the light gathering capability, it seems like a steal if you ask me.
Michael Heath Yeah, it's a lens that is only for convenience. But even in that regard it's rather pointless in my opinion. Something like a 24-70 f/2.8 from Tamron is also optically awesome and it covers a far more useful range, plus it's cheaper. Sure, you lose another full stop compared to an f/2 lens, but we are going for convenience here. In my opinion a 24-70 f/2.8 and a fast prime with your favorite focal length within that range is a far more practical and versatile combination.
Hey dude, remember that ART SIGMA 24-105 you did a Preview of ages ago? Can't we have a Review of that too? Or else that Preview is pretty damn useless
Think its time the big boys woke up, Sigma is making waves. If you are a Nikon DX user really the only way you are going to get f2.8 DX zoom glass is buying Sigma right now (I dont count Nikons silly and expensive variable new zoom, that really is a cop out). If people wanted FX glass they would have bought a FX body. Why buy a Nikon body if you are not using Nikon glass? Where is the Nikon mini-trinity of DX zooms; looks at the Sigma 17-50 f2.8, isn't that what Nikon should be making? Why upgrade to Nikon FX if you have moved to somebody else's crop sensor body following the better glass. Suddenly nobody is buying Nikon except existing Pros. Less sales means a price hike and suddenly nobody wants Nikon at all. See how it snowballs. Get real Nikon make some proper compact DX professional lenses; f3.5-5.6 is insulting our intelligence ;-)
