The song is a poetry of Bulleh Shah (ca. 1680), famously renowned as Baba Bulleh Shah, a famous Punjabi enlightened being, a Sufi mystic and poet. In his verses, Bulleh Shah further urges that true wisdom elevates inner consciousness, to feel a deep sense of unity and love with All, and intellectual knowledge alone would only have the purpose of feeding the ego. Bulleh Shah’s heart touched the divine nectar beyond any distinction of gender, caste, religion, opinion, or any form of duality.

Today’s radical islam has nothing to do with Sufis. If they would understand sufism, they would not be radical. Sufis were the ones who were inspired a lot by the beauty of Sanatan and incorporated many elements in Sufism, especially the Bhakti element and music. This poetry is from Bulleshah, who is considered Kabir of Sufism. If you read about him and his poetries, you will understand the depth of Sufism, it has nothing to do with radical islam. This is a love poetry for his master. For me, such poetries are beyond any boundary of religion but one has to have a little more maturity to understand them. Ask any indian musician who enjoys sufi music and they will tell you how much they respect Bullehshah. In Punjab, all Sikh musicians sing Bullehshah’s songs and they are not muslims. Also for musicians, these boundaries do not exist. Bade Ghulam Ali khansahib used to sing shiva songs with total devotion while Pandit Jasraj’s “mero allah meherban” is a very well known performance. Musicians do not believe in these boundaries because our connection is with divine through music and if any lyrics help in that, we sing it irrespective of the religious boundaries. I am not secular or non secular, I am nothing, nobody, except true lover of Sanatan Dharma and of beautiful spiritual literature which our land has given birth to. Now if that means for you I am a Sickular, frankly I do not care, I am a lover of truth.
During Bull shah's lifetime, he was outcasted as kafir by some foolish radical Muslim clerics. Song is very beautiful 🙌. Radical Islam has not digested also Mansour

Bhagawan Dattatraya had blessed lot of Muslim also. At one point of time all the religions are collapsed and merged in to oneness . Somehow I feel Sufis is one of larger branch of Sanatan.
