Koalas are marsupials, not bears.
I hope the Koala is fine, most people dont know that Koalas should not drink with there head upwards. Koalas get nearly all the water they need from plants and if they need they drink some. But when the water comes from something like a bottle, they can drown cause the water goes into the lungs. I also didnt know this a few Weeks ago but i heard it from the news.
They said when u wanna give water to a koala, give it in a bowl or something like it .
I learned the same thing.

Please everyone, if you can approach a koala like that, it means it is very sick and needs professional help. Contact a local wildlife group who will go out and rescue him, rehabilitate and nurse back to health.
Not calling for help will condemn that beautiful guy to a slow agonising death :(
That's what I thought, the video is very sweet... but I was also thinking if he knew the right number to phone it for the critter, or look it up - if did not already know it, then dial. How did you know that if one is able to approach them like this, they are very sick with need for veterinary help?
Emy Fowell I've been very lucky to work in a wildlife shelter with koalas amongst other native animals. Healthy koalas will come down to ground to get to another tree if there aren't bridging branches to climb across. They will never stay on the ground unless something is wrong.
Something I will never forget is feeding baby koalas, absolutely the best experience ever! :D

Bicycle riders are some of the best people. I ride a recumbent bike these days, and I would not hesitate to stop and help a critter. And Koala's are some of the cutest critters. Good on ya mate.
I like this video, but serious question here... Suppose the cyclist gave the Koala all of his water and later perished from dehydration. Would the Koala be a murderer, or would it be considered a suicide?

Some really fucked up things are happening the animals in the wild, yet a little thing like this really sends a message that there are people who really care.Special thanks to the cyclist. For all the animal lovers, we need to find a way to end the fur industry. Obviously ending the demand will theoretically eradicate it completely, but what else?

This is probably one of the coolest videos you have ever done. Loved it.
This is cute but quite unusual. They don't usually drink much water at all, unless it's extremely hot or there is something wrong with them. Also, they are usually not fond of human contact at all, the guy was pretty lucky he didn't have a chunk taken out of him! Cute encounter but the koala's behaviour suggests something's not quite right. Or it could just be very friendly! p.s. you shoudn't share your water bottle with an animal unless you're going to disinfect it afterwards. No lecture intended but don't put yourself at risk of harm just to get close to our furry buddies. Cute but unpredictable!
g dv Thought the worse you could get from them was fleas. Petland has been selling puppies with this Chlamydia too (possibly a result of puppy mills?). Is it possible this koala had been adopted by a family and abandoned or accidently left behind at the stop?

koalas normally have to rely on eucalyptus leaves not just for food but also for most of their hydration (many aboriginals versions of the word mean "doesn't drink", although they do drink - just not much) so water like this is a treat they'll never say no to!
