    @Joe Doherty I just watched the original. I know some of British politics and I found it just as amusing as our "family" In fact when Archie bunker's place started up, it inspired the British creator to restart the show.

    You cannot say one show is better than the other. They are reflections of their cultures. I can appreciate both shows for the ground that they both broke. Brits are going to like their version better because it was first and also they understand the cultural and political references. Also most Americans do know tha All In The Family was retooled from Til Death Us Do Part.

    I'm American and I totally agree with you. I find TDUDP to be more sharp and quick witted overall.

    All in the Family had 5 Spin Offs. The Jeffersons, Maude, Gloria, 704 Hauser Street and Archie Bunkers Place.

    • @cityhawk
      @cityhawk 2 роки тому

      704 Hauser wasn’t a spin-off of All in the Family. Only the house was the same. That’s it.

    • @kevanos4636

      @@cityhawk You are of course entitled to your opinion but if you look up 704 Hauser St. on Wikipedia, it is mentioned as a spin-off of all in the family. It was the same house, same producer, same set (It had been kept in storage and was reused). It dealt with similar social issues from a different vantage point. In the first episode Joey Stivic appeared briefly. Also, one of the lead characters was Archie's, Wife's, Cousin's, Maid's, Husband who had faked his death years ago and was living his life under an alias. LOL

    Archie wasn't a hardcore racist. He would be VERY anti-Obama, but in large part because of political disagreement. If, say, Clarence Thomas or Thomas Sowell (black conservatives) were president, Archie would still say politically incorrect things about them while trying to magnanimous (like the way he interacted with Lionel Jefferson), but he would like them.

    • @joerubi6249
      @joerubi6249 Рік тому +2

      Yes, Archie wasn't a hardcore racist but was very ignorant due to his poor education and lack of understanding of the outside world. But he began to mellow in the final season of "All In The Family" when Edith's niece, Stephanie, moved in and she was Jewish. And in "Archie Bunker's Place," he mellowed further but still showed a little ignorance but not much.

    For someone who is a fan of British telivision, you come off as an american teenager.
    Btw, it's not necicarly better, it's different cultures of humor.
    Most US remakes succeed while the majority of UK remakes of American shows only last a couple of seasons.
