Some of chat thinks those mental health facilities is like visiting a resort lmao. Like they're all having a blast playing bingo on the weekends. But that guy was clearly not right in the head. I'm sure the insanity sentence was valid. And it's not like pleading insanity is easy- people have tried.

@@Lavenderskullz I mean, you're on the same page as the murderer himself cuz later on in the interrogation the detective asks him what he thinks should happen to him and the suspect said he should be killed because he believes in "an eye for an eye". So in a way, denying him what he wanted and placing him in a place where he will be forced to become lucid and aware of the awful and horrific thing he did is a greater punishment.

@@antonioprice8081 It is and it isn't. He's still responsible for killing someone, but like the video said, he should've gotten help a long time ago. If we assume mental illness is purely responsible, rather than assigning some culpability for violent behaviors, that leads to people thinking people with these disorders are inherently dangerous. When the reality is these people are more likely to be victims.

I've heard these hospitals can be worse than prison and can even spend way longer there than if they just went to prison (very rarely are they just let free). Really the only benefits of choosing the hospital is if the alternative is the death penalty. Otherwise, it's the DJ Khalid "congratulations you played yourself" meme.
@@Lavenderskullz And jurors that do agree the person is mentally unfit to stand trial also see them unfit to be in society. And regardless of mental state, you're still guilty of doing the action. They may think someone not being aware of their actions is more likely to repeat the crime.
