@@markula_4040the whole point is that the Briefcase is it’s own unique type of title that gets you to the title match when cashed in. So managing a story that puts the briefcase to good use is important. If it’s literally being used as a holding case then obviously it’s not going to look important.
My list 1. Damien Sandow (won 1/12 after winning the briefcase, cash in itself made him looking incredibly weak after he identified a weakness and attacked it before the cash in. He didn’t recover from this and was only able to get some fan support back years later as a comedy character.) 2. Alberto Del Rio for everything mentioned in video. 3. Austin Theory (was incredibly dumb.) 4. Baron Corbin (everything said in video.) 5. Jack Swagger (everything said and also ruined Jericho/Edge rivalry.) 6. Sheamus 7. Strowman 8. John Cena 9. Nikki A.S.H 10. Brock Lesnar ( him winning the case to end the match and ppv was pretty bad too.) 6.
Drew won the briefcase, held it for an hour, then cashed and lost the same way Barron Corbin did with a distraction by his rival. in a feud that was already the best in the company and that didn’t need it. Drew should be on here
@num1Jaysta I've never been sold on the hype around Theory. I think he is at the level he was always going to wind up at. I don't know if Corbin was ever going to make it as a top guy, but he was getting the level of reaction that you would expect of him for where he was at the time. And obviously, Strowman was enormously over as an alternative top babyface to the bad old days of Roman.
The argument for Priest's being higher on the list is this: He's one of the few people who won MITB in a stable. A group of people around the winner who would (for the most part) take a bullet for him. Add that with Seth's wonky leg for a few months and all it takes is for Priest, Balor, Dom and JD, (of course Rhea could help, too, but they started writing her somewhat in her own world for while) to jump the champ at literally any time and have Priest cash-in. The fact that Drew won it first, Punk interfered, THEN Priest by himself, hit one move and won was just meh. It could've strengthened the Judgement Day if they were part of helping him win it. A 5 on 1 assault on a wounded champ would get way more heat. But for months Priest looked like a moron for not just sending the entire Judgement Day out there to attack then cleaning up the rest for himself.
Luke really hates whenever MITB was used to put someone other than the briefcase holder over. Even by accident! Orton cashing in during the Yes Movement? Orton's cash-in furthers *Bryan's* story. That's why it's on your list, Luke! It's not just your little mark heart, it's also WWE using the briefcase wrong in exactly the way you don't like!
The whole episode is Luke taking Ls, putting Priest on it because it's "lazy". It's lazy to keep the Drew/Punk/WHC feud going, with more Drew getting screwed for being a dickhead???
The Theory cash in was also a waste of the "hidden" mid-card title loophole. Most people would not want to go for anything except the world title, but if there was a justification, it could be a pleasant surprise. For example, a Sheamus cash in for the intercontinental title to complete his title collection. It's logical why he would do that, and it would've made the "no-one has ever done this before, it was unthinkable!" moment... Instead, they threw that opportunity AND HAD THE GUY LOSE THE MATCH!? Madness.
In the exact same year an injured Cena lost the belt in a competitive match to Daniel Bryan yet a few months later and one armed (plus attacked) managed to pull through on the Sandow cash in.
The stupidest thing about Braun's cash-in is that he announced it before and didn't try to capitalize on an exhausted champ, but turned heel right after that and tried to cheat to win the title anyways but gave away his best chance to do so with a surprise cash-in.
Hey guys, love all the episodes with the lists. How about a top 10 best and top 10 worst signature moves. Similar to the finisher list but a little different. And maybe top 10 best and top 10 worst decisions in wwe history? Keep up the good work!
Yeah, why waste money in the bank on the one title that everyone is open to try to get? That's like trying to put a $20 bill in a $1 vending machine to get a can of pop.
I hate same night cash ins. Used to be creative but most women mitbs cahed in on the same night. I liked when ziggler, rollins and edge kept the briefcase for months and had it as part of their character.
The Miz's cash in was a big deal because no one thought he would ever be the wwe champion, nor did anyone want him to win. Luke doesn't understand how this game works.
This series shows off the best of each person shown at this table. Pete: The joyful but very naive wrestling fan who is a by the book, E Drone. Luke: The guy who seems to forget stuff that happened on pay per view events from the biggest/most well known wrestling promotion, despite knowing evrything that happened in TNA. Tempest: the father of the other two guys having to constintly remind them that they quote "didn't bury this hard enough", and also being the best guy to hear. (maybe that's just my Canadian bias.)
I hard disagree with the Miz one. Because even though the wrestletalk lads were upset when he won. I loved it because I always felt Miz was underrated and it made sense to burn the briefcase and make MVP and Bobby seem smart by trying to sneakily get the belt off Drew and take it from an easier opponent.
I feel like they could have justified the Theory cash in at least a little bit if they tried. At that time Roman barely defended his belt, and when he did he had a whole posse around him 24/7, it would have been pretty much impossible to cash in on him. Maybe his justification could be that it's better to cash in and succeed on a midcard belt than cash in and fail on the world title. He'd still look like a bit of a chump, but at least there's some logic behind it. Of course, that would have required him to actually WIN the midcard belt...
Luke is my spirit animal, and people angry at his 'bad' opinions don't realize that he provides one pov that some people like to ignore: No matter how good wrestling can be, how awesome the stories told can be, wrestling is, as a concept, absurd and camp as hell. Luke is just along for the ride, and I love it
Would love to see you guys do Best/Worst WCW PPV matches with Laurie and Best/Worst TNA matches with Luke. I love hearing you guys talk about non-WWE stuff and both those companies made some bizarre choices.
What i learnt from this is, i don't mind Cena (and Orton and even Jinder) compared to others. I guess it is equalled on the other side by me not really warming to Bryan or Roman Also i don't really understand why people complain about wrestlers being put into a match they weren't in, but like the Becky Rumble win, but that's a different gripe of mine
The Roman Reigns "Who's your daddy" promo on Theory is what ruined him and his cash-in. After that promo any idea of Theory being a World Champion anytime soon was thrown out the window.
How was Edge 2007 not listed at all? Took advantage of 2 injuries that could have been storied differently individually. There was no point. This made me detest Edge, & I still detest him even today.
Exactly. As annoying as Theory’s cash-in was, at least he did eventually go after that title and win it (as underwhelming and boring as that reign ended up being). Baron Corbin got punished for literally speaking his mind and was rolled up by the worst WWE Champion by a country mile and got further devalued for no real reason as a result.
@@RobertJW Guess that counts too. To be honest, it was REALLY difficult for me to pick between Baron and Austin because both cash-in’s were really stupid, made both of them look like idiots in the process and neither of them really recovered from that. .
Was trying to listen to this while doing odd jobs around the house, so no visual cues, no idea who was being spoken about, and it feels like this series is ‘let’s see how many bad words we can bleep and how many ‘funny’ rants we can do)
Sandow was actually number 1 on my initial shortlist and I'm mildly surprised to not see it higher. First time the person cashing in outright got pinned, and while Cena was overly protected from any real bad outcome from his loss, Sandow was never afforded that luxury. Plus, the cash-in occurred on a relatively low stakes Raw, had no real atmosphere to it whatsoever.
while I can understand Pete and Tempos thinking on Randy. I personally agree much more with Luke id even go as far as top 5 worst. It simply was a boring winner that started a boring run that nobody wanted to see because everyone wanted Bryan. If it was anyone else, fine. But Bryan was the only reason a lot of people were watching and that moment is a catalyst for a lot of people to stop watching.
NEVER FORGET. they had Cena win the MitB that year because they wanted him to be the first failed cash in and not a young guy. Only for Cena to WIN the match by DQ, WIN the belt at Mania anyways, and then BEAT SANDOW IN HIS CASH IN! meaning Sandow "the younger talent" is STILL the first cash-in failer.
9:41 wait, isn’t the moment Luke’s referencing here when the guy he forgot about was Jinder Mahal? Which means he fortgot about him AGAIN and I find that so funny
Worst 10 for me 10. John Cena on CM Punk 9. Sheamus on Roman Reigns 8. Damien Sandow on John Cena 7. Bayley on Becky Lynch 6. Brock Lesnar on Seth Rollins 5. Nikki A.S.H on Charlotte 4. Alexa Bliss on Nia Jax 3. Baron Corbin on Jinder Mahal 2. Theory on Seth Rollins 1. Braun Strowman on Roman Reigns
I like the idea of cashing in on the Tag Team Belts. You can do the "Are they going to do a Singles run? What about their partner? Will they break up?" and the Babyface can go "No! I'm not leaving my partner behind. I don't want a Singles career. I'm here with my best friend, and that's how I want to win my 1st Belt. Us winning the Belts together. I'm not letting them be forgotten because I won a special match." You can even have it where when they do Cash-In, they can tag in their partner. Then the partner gets the pin, with the MITBW on the outside, taking out the opponent's partner. From in the ring, they hear "We did it!" and look at their partner all exited. Pointing to their best friend they shout, "That's what I'm taking about!"
I would've approved of Otis using it on the tag titles, because it accomplishes something. It says something about his character. It tells us that he values his friendship with Tucker more than being world champion. That his a selfless, good friend. That's a legitimately good story and would've made Tucker's eventual betrayal way more emotional.
I was absolutely one of those people who thought it would have been brilliant for Otis and Tucky to cash in for the tag titles. Against a proper heel team, and having the announcers slowly come to the realization as to what they were doing...would have been epic. They had two great ways to get Heavy Machinery over in into the championships, and this was the other one. Heavy Machinery had everything needed to be mad crazy over...except for the fact that Vince didn't think the tag division was worth spending any time on. I think Otis having the title taken from him in Wrestlers' Court was so bad an idea, it deserved a spot in this list. They didn't even bother to have him try and lose, there was just a universal nodding of heads that this was one of the worst idea Vince ever had (it wasn't - see above) and they decided to all but Patrick Duffy In A Shower it out of existence.
I actually think baron Corbin's cash in is the worst cash in, worse than Austin theory's and ill explain why. There is one big difference between the two, Austin's cash in, while to make Seth look better and get rid of the briefcase, also tried to do another thing. It tried to make the US title look better. It tried to establish the US title as the main raw title because it was being booked as the main raw title at the time, it was Seth and Bobby Lashley feuding over it lol Austin cashing in on the title was supposed to make the title look better, it didn't BUT I still think that due to this baron's cash in is worse because baron's cash in was to punish Corbin and make jindef look better, nothing else.
For most of the list, I saw cash-ins I thought would be higher and thought “Wow, it could literally be any of these in the top 3… and then I remembered…
Cashing in on the tag titles i think is a good idea, however the tag titles division needs to feel more important than it currently does so that the tag team equivalent to the world title is worth that cash in
Them talking about Theory and his cashing in on a midcard title has me thinking. There is precisely ONE storyline where it could work, and frankly only one person I can think of off the top of my head it could work with; Sheamus cashing it in for the IC title. Yes it's cashing in for a midcard belt, not going for the main event titles, but it'd be him using the briefcase to cash in for the one title that he's never had, that winning it makes him a grand slam champion. Because that arguably is a bigger deal than being wwe champion, rounding out his legacy. It's the only time cashing in for a midcard title could actually make sense to do.
You could do best/worst for segments and matches for me the latter would definitely include Austin and Rock sitting down with JR and the latter would have End of an Era Wrestlemania 28
You can't have Austin Theory beat Roman and can't wait for the new world title, sure. NXT world title would count as a world title and be an interesting idea. Cashing in on a midcard title isn't as bad idea to me than it is to others (though I understand where they are coming from) but it is a massive mess of bad ideas
The most strangest one for me will always be Theory's. Because of it being the US title and him basically not having to cash it in because it being an open challenge
I get the idea of giving Cena the briefcase in order to be the first one to lose it, since that would have buried most other people….but they booked it so poorly and then they buried people with failed cash ins anyway
You guys should rank who was the best seller in wrestling. The true art form of selling moves and making people look good. Triple H, dolph, and hbk come to mind right off the bat but I’d like to see your guys thoughts!
So many of these can be summed up as "they didn't have to try, because there was no alternative." You could study WWE from 2001-2020 as an object lesson on why monopolies are bad.
I mean, it wasn't the case in 2022 and still isn't, but if the tag division had depth and a level of prestige the tag cash in could work. Theory's (after the fact) justification for the cash in did make some sense too, he knew he couldn't beat the Bloodline stranglehold. But yeah, he didn't win, it was a wacky thing when he did it. And then he did win it later so why not have him win the cash in. Of course he'd been booked as a loser and the US title was at the time, the consolation prize for main eventers during the Roman Eternity, so he had no credibility to compete for it.

Hogan's cash-in at Wrestlemania 9 was the worst... He didn't even bring the briefcase with him to Vegas!
Hulk hogan IS the money in the bank briefcase😂
@@simple9533 Hogan cashed in his “That works for me brother briefcase”😂.
@@cliffordjackson3hahaha
My list
1. Damien Sandow (won 1/12 after winning the briefcase, cash in itself made him looking incredibly weak after he identified a weakness and attacked it before the cash in. He didn’t recover from this and was only able to get some fan support back years later as a comedy character.)
2. Alberto Del Rio for everything mentioned in video.
3. Austin Theory (was incredibly dumb.)
4. Baron Corbin (everything said in video.)
5. Jack Swagger (everything said and also ruined Jericho/Edge rivalry.)
6. Sheamus
7. Strowman
8. John Cena
9. Nikki A.S.H
10. Brock Lesnar ( him winning the case to end the match and ppv was pretty bad too.)
6.
Drew won the briefcase, held it for an hour, then cashed and lost the same way Barron Corbin did with a distraction by his rival. in a feud that was already the best in the company and that didn’t need it. Drew should be on here
Luke’s list was so fucked.
Yeah because most weren't bad tbh
He always is like that
Luke is a funny dude, but he tries soooo bad to be individual and cool
He hates Miz and is incorrect to do so.
The truly terrible thing about Brawn and Corbin's terrible cash-ins is that neither of them has ever fully recovered from them.
Add Theory to that list
@num1Jaysta I've never been sold on the hype around Theory. I think he is at the level he was always going to wind up at.
I don't know if Corbin was ever going to make it as a top guy, but he was getting the level of reaction that you would expect of him for where he was at the time.
And obviously, Strowman was enormously over as an alternative top babyface to the bad old days of Roman.
@@mikeclark3223 That’s very true. I was never really into Theory as a top guy yet, but they definitely could’ve done a better execution of it.
Who is Brawn?
Luke really popped me with "We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas." 😆 🤣 😂
Wasn't theory's cash in during an open challenge? I seem to remember it adding another layer of stupid to the whole thing.
Yeah, why waste money in the bank on the one title that everyone is open to try to get? That's like trying to put a $20 bill in a $1 vending machine to get a can of pop.
FACTS.
Maybe Luke should’ve taken a look at wikipedia…
I hate same night cash ins. Used to be creative but most women mitbs cahed in on the same night. I liked when ziggler, rollins and edge kept the briefcase for months and had it as part of their character.
The thing with the Theory one is, the MITB briefcase was doomed in the one belt Roman run, he was never gonna drop it
"You didn't bury this enough" sounds like a new show you guys will have within the next 3 months or so
The Miz's cash in was a big deal because no one thought he would ever be the wwe champion, nor did anyone want him to win. Luke doesn't understand how this game works.
Luke bashing the “Scotland hometown title challenger” but was marking for Saraya’s 3 week title reign that started in London……
He's an AEW mark, I expected nothing less
It's amazing how many episodes of this show feature Austin getting a clean sweep of the #1 spot
Pete is slowly turning into 2019 Eminem.
i love when in these "the worst -blank-" TLCs, it's half either agreeing or saying u didn't bury this enough lmao
Luke including Randy Orton, while not including/remembering Del Rio is peak Luke decision making.
Love these! I'd say the worst cash in was Baron Corbin? and the worst successful one was Jack Swagger
The Tucker heel turn didn’t lead to nothing! It lead to him getting fired!😂
Tempest’ rant about Corbin getting punished for the CTE incident is great.
Come on, Boyz! When are we going to get the TLC episode for the 10 Worst Wrestling Belts of all time?
Been dying to see that episode.
Luke is my spirit animal, and people angry at his 'bad' opinions don't realize that he provides one pov that some people like to ignore:
No matter how good wrestling can be, how awesome the stories told can be, wrestling is, as a concept, absurd and camp as hell.
I guess it is equalled on the other side by me not really warming to Bryan or Roman
Also i don't really understand why people complain about wrestlers being put into a match they weren't in, but like the Becky Rumble win, but that's a different gripe of mine
MVP Luke. He makes this show perfect
The Roman Reigns "Who's your daddy" promo on Theory is what ruined him and his cash-in. After that promo any idea of Theory being a World Champion anytime soon was thrown out the window.
Please do top 10 best kick outs/ false finishes ever

Austin theory wors
How was Edge 2007 not listed at all? Took advantage of 2 injuries that could have been storied differently individually. There was no point. This made me detest Edge, & I still detest him even today.
Me, at the end of the video:
"Hey, at least Austin Theory won something due to the MITB turn in..."
@@DariusFrench6273 Oh, no, that's not what HappyMcPunchface meant.
At least Austin won being on top of this list.
@@RobertJW Guess that counts too.
To be honest, it was REALLY difficult for me to pick between Baron and Austin because both cash-in’s were really stupid, made both of them look like idiots in the process and neither of them really recovered from that.
.
Shirt game is on point this episode Luke and Pete.
Was trying to listen to this while doing odd jobs around the house, so no visual cues, no idea who was being spoken about, and it feels like this series is ‘let’s see how many bad words we can bleep and how many ‘funny’ rants we can do)
Them all saying number 1's name at the same time, then saying the ensuing nerd reference in unison as well was splendid.
“You didn’t bury this enough” great video long gag 😂
Mask guys voice reminds me of futurama
I don't know if Bork Laser was an intentional Team Four Star reference on the part of Tempest, but I'm gonna assume it was and I love it.
Worst 10 for me
10. John Cena on CM Punk
9. Sheamus on Roman Reigns
8. Damien Sandow on John Cena
7. Bayley on Becky Lynch
6. Brock Lesnar on Seth Rollins
5. Nikki A.S.H on Charlotte
4. Alexa Bliss on Nia Jax
3. Baron Corbin on Jinder Mahal
2. Theory on Seth Rollins
1. Braun Strowman on Roman Reigns
I was live in person when Corbin cashed in and i couldnt believe it, a cash in happening, in my town........and he gets rolled by Jinder..........
Number 1 was never in doubt. Like, from the moment I saw the title, I knew it was gonna be a clean sweep
The intro for this needs to be more concise, Pete always feels like he's rushing through it.
For most of the list, I saw cash-ins I thought would be higher and thought “Wow, it could literally be any of these in the top 3… and then I remembered…
Cashing in on the tag titles i think is a good idea, however the tag titles division needs to feel more important than it currently does so that the tag team equivalent to the world title is worth that cash in
I'm reminded of almost a superhero Nikki almost a superhero everytime Justin Roberts says "Maxwell Jacob Friedman, 'MJF'".
Next TLC should be John Cena’s greatest rivalries/matches 🙏🏼
You could do best/worst for segments and matches for me the latter would definitely include Austin and Rock sitting down with JR and the latter would have End of an Era Wrestlemania 28
You can't have Austin Theory beat Roman and can't wait for the new world title, sure.
NXT world title would count as a world title and be an interesting idea. Cashing in on a midcard title isn't as bad idea to me than it is to others (though I understand where they are coming from) but it is a massive mess of bad ideas
“You didn’t bury this enough” should be a new segment 🤣🤣🤣

I've met Jack Swagger/Hager in real life, super nice guy 🔥👍
Luke Owen mocking his WrestleMania 26 moment is PERFECT 👌🤣💯
The most strangest one for me will always be Theory's. Because of it being the US title and him basically not having to cash it in because it being an open challenge
Tempest shouting KEVIN NASH and the slow zoom breakdown is peak wrestling frustration. Entertained, i was.
I get the idea of giving Cena the briefcase in order to be the first one to lose it, since that would have buried most other people….but they booked it so poorly and then they buried people with failed cash ins anyway
"You didn't bury this enough" is gonna live in my head rent-free for a while 🤣
You guys should rank who was the best seller in wrestling. The true art form of selling moves and making people look good. Triple H, dolph, and hbk come to mind right off the bat but I’d like to see your guys thoughts!
So many of these can be summed up as "they didn't have to try, because there was no alternative."
You could study WWE from 2001-2020 as an object lesson on why monopolies are bad.
Luke: "This was easy to do, I didn't need to check wikipedia because I remember all the bad ones."
Also Luke Several times during this: "Oh I completely forgot that one happened."
*Luke it costs literally nothing other then a few moments of your time to just check wikipedia before hand my dude.*
