I love how Cas ran in and saved Dean though in the end it was Sam that saved them both I thought it was sweet, when you first meet Cas he's kind of a dick, and then he grows to be their best friend
(Replying in 2019, after Season 14's finale, waiting for Series finale): I don't see what use Sam would have for those old demonic powers of his.... i mean, this is also considering who the 'big bad' is expected/slated to be for the final season of the show. On the other hand, if the show would've ended with Lucifer being the FINAL "big, bad", then maybe the writers could've found an interesting way to shoehorn Sam's abilities into something useful to use against Lucifer. But since Lucifer is essentially 'out of play', Sam will likely need something else.
@@rkmugen Is Supernatural worth seeing anymore? I really loved seasons 1 - 5, but afterwards I think they kind of lost track of the characters, like they didn't have that one BIG purpose anymore. I watched until, season 8, but after they killed Bobby I felt the show had really lost it.
They were wrong, demonic. Dean before he died had asked Sam not to use them but he broke the promise he made to Dean, I think there is nothing more dishonorable
Why do y'all cut out the part of alistair looking confused when sam says he is stronger than that now? The beat of that scene, the pause and the look on alistair's face give so much more intensity to sam's revelation that he can now kill demons with his powers.
Imagine how useful these abilities would be now if Sam just remembered he had these powers... I think even Sam and Dean forgot Sam has demon powers. It would be so helpful against certain enemies they've faced in the past. But oh well I guess....
They didn’t forget, it just isn’t worth it. It doesn’t only give Sam powers, it changes him. Sam uses it last when they face Famine because he was forced to drink demon blood. Later on they get so strong they face demons bare handed.
If Alistair was the one killing the angels he would have been able to kill Castiel. The fact that he didn't prove that he's telling the truth when he denies it.
Old castiel got his ass kicked in every fight he was in season 4. First scene after his entry in the barn, he tells Dean that he just lost a fight and a seal while six other angels died; then Alistar kicked his ass before Anna (Human at that time) banished him back to heaven; then Cas had to trick Sam and Dean into capturing Alastair because he couldn't do it; then the Scene in the video happend and he was saved by Sam; then he fought against Uriel and was saved by Anna; then the Angels literally beat the shit out of him so he had to leave Jimmy and finally Raphael smote him.
remember that badass moment where Alistair was more of a badass than Lucifer and god put together and is the only character in the series that deport angels and his latin is masterful its if hes done it in his natural language
I am an other opinion. Ruby's Knife like holy water or rock salt dosn't have very high effect on high-tier demons like and he was even one of the white eyes and white-eyed demons like him are the most powerful demons at all (after Cain).
Yes, I am aware that demons have to be mortally wounded to be killed. There you tell me nothing new. However, the things that are implied are never canonologically more true than the things that are shown and it has rather been shown that high-tier demons are generally at least resilient or even durable to the demon-killing knife as well as rock salt and/or holy water.
@@bobdylan1968 The white-eyed demon Alastair has been survived the stabbs if the knife (I know he still implied that the hit to the heart as a fatal would be kill him, but episodes later Dean Winchester killed Ruby and a lot of demons to hit their into the stomach and through the guts and neither glown up nor sparked out of the wound that shown that he was completely durable to it).
who is watching this in 2019 and totally thinks that Sam's powers should make a come back, l mean seriously they have been seriously underutilized. Anyway they were so awesome and l miss them
There are some actors where just with the way they look and speak and move, them going into acting is nothing short of a public service... And Christopher Heyerdahl is definitely 1 of those actors!!!
This is a terrific episode with maybe the most resilient demon ever i.e. Alastair, but was it somehow a mandatory part of the character that he always speaks with the worst Brando accent since "Duelling Brandos" ? And that's not even my only question about this ep: Castiel has already warned Dean, and Sam, at least twice before that Sam needs to stop using demon powers...yet he merely watches in amazement does not intervene... while Sam turns Alastair into a smoking demon corpse using his demon mojo at full power?!
They die as well. Its one of the ways Ruby tricked Sam into using his powers more- bc at first he didn’t kill the demons, he just sent them back to hell, in which case sometimes the host could still be saved, it would just depend on what the demon had done with them first.
ONLY LOOK IF YOU HAVE MADE IT PAST SEASON 4! I know this is a late comment but looking back at this scene after finishing the show, does anyone get the feeling that Alastair was sending Castiel back to heaven because he was working with the angels, to send him back to Naomi for reprogramming like what happened in The Rapture (Episode 20)? I know in season 15 Lilith says her and Michael worked together in the past to start the apocalypse so this just became a recent idea because it would mean that everything both angels and demons did throughout seasons 1-5 were planned out almost perfectly, that they were allies and worked together to the common goal of freeing Lucifer and starting the apocalypse
I think it's just because he couldn't kill Castiel outright. Cas was loyal to heaven and was going back and forth of his own volition; if Naomi wanted to reprogram him she wouldn't need Alastair. In addition, the lower ranked angels and demons didn't really know about the coordination.
You know I wish they did more with Alastair I’m gonna say it Lilith is a terrible villain she didn’t do much outside kill Dean nuke a police station full of people prance around in a little girl vessel and kill the grandfather of said vessel and break the 66 seals to set lucifer and then melt the gun the can hurt chuck and she’s killed like a bitch by Michael and Sam. Alastair on the other hand was cunning manipulative and I feel he’s a pre curser to what Crowley would become I hate season 4 the main goal of stopping Lilith is ignored for a bunch of filler episodes that don’t do anything for the season in fact it drags the season down in my opinion and a lot of the characters make stupid or illogical decisions and as stated before Lilith is a terrible villain but I have to admit Alastair was really good and I hate they didn’t make him the first villain as opposed to Lilith
Mark Rolston did base his performance as Alastair on Brando`s performance in "The Godfather" and Heyerdahl modified Rolston`s performance with his own ideas of what a high-level demon would sound like.
That doesn't make sense though, angels have existed for a very long time before Lucifier made the first demon, and Alastair came after that...this show's power chart is so fucked up. The very next episode we see an angel blade, so why didn't Cas just use an angel blade to kill him, why use the knife? It's not of his character, it's just to progress the story to show how strong Sam has become, and its bs.
LurkinPT Well, I suppose it is for plot purposes still, but as you could see, Alastairs telekinesis was stronger than Castiels, since he could stop the knife from turning and pull it out. So yeah, plot purposes and the fact Alastair was very strong for a demon. Also, like I said, Castiel was no where near the power he is at now
Yeah I understand that, and love the show, but a low tier angel should kill any demon just based on age alone, it makes sense that there are more demons than angels, so at any given fight its like a 3-4 to 1 ratio of angel - demon so than it might go south for the angel, but even if Alastair was one of the oldest demons, he should get roasted by a under powered Cas. I heard a theory that since the angels wanted the apoc. to happen so bad, that the seraphs and such (Zach etc) let certain things happen, ex: this, but still, just frustrating lol
@@LurkinPT no it’s supposed on how powerful they are not by age. And some high ranking demons such as The Princes of Hell, Lilith, Alastair, Crowley etc. have surpassed some angels power thru the years some demons can do what angels cannot do or have that ability stronger than the angel like Alastair overpowering Castiel in telekinesis, also demons in supernatural are the angels’ rival species so they’re kind of equals.
