It is ridiculous that somebody say in the comment that the dance is not Tibetan enough...while they have obviously no knowledge about Tibetan people or Tibetan language or Tibetan clothes! I guess they can not tell the difference between asian people but they just have the courage to criticize China based on their little broken biased knowledge taught in their biased media.
There are many Tibetan students in my university and sometimes they hold exhibitions about their own culture in the campus. In weekends they gather and practice their own dance...So I can distinguish Tibetan people from Han people. But before I knew them, I would not think they are from Tibetan, since the difference is really subtle. Majority Han people in China and Tibetan people have very similar facial features and the only difference I can spot is that Tibetan girls have slightly darker skins due to the strong sunlight in the Tibetan plateau. One day I talked with them in the cafeteria they told me that they came to this university because it has a high ranking and good fame in their hometown, they also said that as minority students they extra points in university entrance exams so they could come to this good university, while majority do not have this privilege.
The performers in this video, since they all made up, so it is hard to tell their ethnicity. But the dance style and lyrics is absolutely Tibetan.
And yes since Tibet is a part of China of course it is normal to see some cultural merge.
I just got so offended every time I saw some stupid comments coming from some foreign guys who thought they know a lot about China and full of prejudice and superiority. If you are so good at criticizing and questioning why do not focus on your own country or your own life first! stop spread these unpleasant sometimes even disgusting prejudice!

Wonderful! Beautiful costumes. The songs are prayers for health, long life and thanksgiving, The Buddha Dharma is of course central to all this. I wish their was more written Tibetan as it's difficult to understand the broad Khampa dialect. The children singing the alphabet song was so endearing. Long Live Tibet! May Tibet be Free! This is my prayer. Tashi Delek!

+johnvist LOL, in china, people in Tibetan have peaceful and better life, they can have their own culture and stage to performance. In fact, china is built by 56 nations. every nation has their own stage and culture. china want to keep the culture. but in US, with thousands of nations but only one pop music. keep on watching your capitalist media. if you never go to see the real truth. you are blind.

LOL back to you, do you know Uyghur, Mongolian and Tibetan people are highly censored and the Chinese government gives them no political freedom. Uyghurs have been forced to learn confucian values and abandon muslim names.

This collection still has some of my favorite songs and performances. Below are my favorites:
    1. Shon at 0:26 - 7:23 (This has khampa vibe. Love the amazing dance sequence)
    2. Tashi Shay-chaen 27:45 - 33:40 (Song for me is a "pump up song". Makes me emotional, mad, and proud to be Tibetan)
    3. Gyang-Shay 37:02 - 42:14 (Among all, this is authentic Tibetan folk song. Just amazing!)
Bhoe-pa tso, Have an awesome day!

I am so happy that you liked this video. The performances, songs, and singers are fantastic in this collection. Are there Chinese influences in the songs & performances? No question about that. But being Tibetans I am happy they are singing in Tibetan and lyrics are awesome. I have edited out Chinese songs or portions of the performances. Being a Tibetan, I know there is clear distinction between Chinese and Tibetan culture and I appreciate our culture. So, I only enjoy the Tibetan aspect and portion of these songs and performance. Thank you for liking it! And yes, our culture is uniquely rich & beautiful. Tashi Delek!

These were all supposed to be Khampa 2014 Losar performances. Amdo 2014 losar performance is on my channel as well. I didn't upload the Lhasa (Central) 2014 Losar performance because the copy I have is not very good in quality and I was not impressed with the performances or the songs.

this is absolute Tibetan Performance. Chinese biggest nation Han can't understand any word. In fact, everyone under western media say china is despotism. nobody think about this, why in china every nation can have their own culture and performance and their languages. The performance like this in china have a lot. every nation in china has their own stage to enjoy themselves. but in USA, the country with thousands of nations, can't hear this different sounds. even no stage. they have only one music, pop music.

Yes, It is Lhasa Dance troupe (the tap dance) and they call the dance piece "Gangchen Dhok-dro". This performance was part of the Khampa losar 2014 although they did a similar dance piece in Lhasa Losar celebration as well.

devmeena1990, the song is known as "Shaa Yumo Shey" (English transliteration) and seems quite popular in the Tibetan diaspora. Various singers have sung this song at different times but I think the version sung my Tsering Gurmey was one of the best. This is unfortunately not available on UA-cam.
