"The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady" is the best yuri anime ever (for me).
I binge watched it just now. Loved it, man. Just wish there were more of this.
This has been on my watchlist for quite some time now! I hope i would stop procrastinating so I can do my boring tasks like looking for work and finally watch it.
I just watched it a few weeks ago without knowing anything about the story and, wow! What a lovely surprise! I hope there’s more in the future. Right now I’m interested to buy the mangas ☺️
Yess, I was gonna recommend this also!
love it and highly recommend
BLOOM INTO YOU IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE STORIES OF ALL TIME! I’m so sad that the rest of the manga isn’t animated because the rest of the story just gets better and better! And it gives me ace representation that I needed.
Some more recommendations I’d give would be: aoi hana (sweet blue flowers), revolutionary girl utena, and yuri kuma arashi (if you like more mind trippy/this is kinda weird stories)
I never read the manga, just watched the anime, but I'm also always looking for ace characters that aren't just pushed to the side or left on the question mark. I'll check out the rest of the story now, thank you!
Yuri Kama Arashi was one of the very first wlw anime I watched! I had no idea what was going on
🤣 Not until about halfway through when it starts to make sense and then I slowly realized just how brilliant a story it is.
For a classic, I'll recommend 'Strawberry Panic!'. That's my all time favorite wlw anime. ☺
I will always love SP for the fact that the show was so dedicated to fan service that the final pairings were decided in an anime magazine poll 😂
I love strawberry panic!! These days I was trying tô remember the names of animes I used to watching when I was younger, and I came out blank! Thanks for reminding me of SP
damn.. that was the first yuri anime that I watch.
gotta go watch again
Bish, u are my friend now
I have no Idea why all of the animé watchers I recommended this anime to hated it
I was like 13 when I first watched it and I have so many memories with it, I even re-watched this last year and cried with it
It was funny, it had a sensible and mysterious plot, the characters were well developed and the couples were so matching
The anime style was not great but it was a Yuri made in 2006! And I actually liked how dramatic they made it
While I recognize that Bloom Into You is the superior anime.... I cannot deny that I have watched Citrus like 7 times and also read the whole manga✋🏻😫 Am I proud of it? No. Will I watch it again as soon as I hit a crisis in my life because it's my emotional support anime together with Kakegurui? Yes. Yes I will.
Your two support anime is kakegurui and citrus, there's a problem🥲🥲
@@uraverageeditor8757 Don't worry, I'm aware
There's something about standing up for a love you believe in and deciding for yourself no matter what other people say that's perfect in Citrus. I wish Yuzu was still applying that kind of self-determination to the reasons for her career choice now where the manga is currently at! 🙃
@@ashlyn1064 i have to say I do like how they stood up against mei's family in terms of the arranged marriage. They really went through so much shit, I think this anime/manga would be more praised if they weren't stepsisters😫 Which tbf, is a very valid criticism
@@alexvachankova7493 why couldn't they have frenemies or something
For a classic, I recommend Revolutionary Girl Utena. It's not for everyone between the symbolism and the trauma, but if it sounds at all interesting to you I think it's worth a look.
I've rewatched it recently. Damn, one of my favourite anime of all time.
Utena and Anthy are one of my fave ships
If you're interested in manga:
1.] Soulmate (I LOVE this anime) - happy ending
2.] Her Tale of Shim Chong (Historical romance with beautiful art) - happy ending
3.] If It Rains Next Week (short romance with a happy ending)
thank you so much for the recomendations, i'm going to look into them
Her tale of shim Chong is a happy ending ? Someone told me it's a sad ending that's why I'm not reading it
As a big anime fan, I am so immensely floored you chose Adachi and Shimamura on here cuz it's one my absolute favourites. I really really enjoyed that you actually spotted the toxicity in the relationship because I love the fact that these two girls just straight up have gotten used to sheer loneliness, barely ever having meaningful friendships and finally finding someone they find common ground in, one of whom really scared to let go and the other really unused to being almost responsible for someone else's feelings to this extent. I've been on both ends of this kinda relationship, and a lot of it really hits close to home. I'm so glad to hear you're continuing the Adachi light novel after this.
Not surprised Bloom Into You and Citrus are on there though. Bloom Into You is the quintessential beginner's anime WLW even if the characters are more like pansexual than anything. I have also watched Citrus a million times but you can't expect me to tell you what the story actually is, I wouldnt be able to tell you.
Some deeper cuts I'd like to recommend:
- Aoi Hana, classic Catholic school melodrama but the art is astoundingly good and the tone has a wistfulness I wish more yuri had
- Revolutionary Girl Utena, artsy and weird feminist stuff but the fun and funny kind of artsy and weird, also very gorgeous art
- Yuri Kuma Arashi, same director as Utena, also really insane
- Kase-san, just really wholesome vibes
- Kata no Ato, nice little short on UA-cam
- Breeze I Come Across, another nice little music video on UA-cam
- Yamibo: Darkness, The Hat and the Travelers of the Books // Touka Gettan, two anime that are linked together but require a lot of piecing the plot together and meta stuff if you're into that
Consider exploring yuri manga btw. There's so much more to yuri beyond the high school stuff that keeps getting adapted, and there's a lot of nice college and workplace stuff that explore lesbian sexuality beyond "I really like this one girl in particular". There's a lot of manga of older characters who have dated more women and are attracted to women in general.
EDIT: There are some yuri manga reccs in the reply if people want em
Would you recommend some titles for the manga?
@@keis5554 Sure!
Qualia the Purple - my real personal fave that's probably the best take on quantum mechanics and time travel I've encountered in anime/manga, super easy to binge in one reading
How Do We Relationship? - about a college lesbian relationship that's failing, has a very relatable vibe to it and there's a weird lightness to the tone in how it shows how these two women aren't really meant for each other and might find love in other women instead
Throw Away the Suit Together. - two women say "fuck job hunting" and find a place in the country to live a wholesome life together, however, they have to figure out the real logistics of actually doing such a big move and finding out what their life is supposed to look like, inspiring stuff tbh
Octave - failed idol who tries to find new meaning in life and meets a former composer, bit of a hard-hitter drama wise
2DK, Gpen, Alarm Clock - weird title yeah, but it's about a mangaka who's roommates with an office lady. delves into melodrama a few times, but it hits similar relatable vibes as How Do We Relationship imo
Vampeerz - classic girl falls in love with a vampire but I do like how the vampire lore is taken from non-Western sources and actually explores beings from middle eastern culture
The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All - popular girl falls in love with the cashier of a rock music store who actually turns out to be the nerdy girl who sits next to her in class, cute short chapters with a pretty slick artstyle, you might like all the references if you're into rock music
Run Away with Me, Girl - good old "let's run away from your toxic husband" story
The Two of Them Are Pretty Much Like This - super slice of life vibes of an adult age-gap couple going about their lives
Aoi Hana - I already mentioned this in the anime section, but the manga continues WAY PAST the anime. more catholic school melodrama, and subtle art and paneling.
I'm in Love with the Villainess - isekai fantasy about getting sucked into a dating simulator set in the renaissance but instead of dating the guy, the main character tries to date the girl who's not supposed to be an option
Asumi-chan is Interested in Lesbian Brothels - the hentai one that actually has a bit of an interesting story and character writing about a girl who tries to find an old friend who she's heard is apparently working in a lesbian brothel so she goes through
Virgins' Empire - another pretty horny one, it's kinda like an anthology of a whole collection of couples in the same school who have brief kinda sexual interactions with each other, hits an interesting itch if you're into the very specific vibe of people flirting and toying with each other rather than actually fully having sex
I Don't Know Which One Is Love - comedy where everyone in this university is just really really into this one girl
There's Weird Voices Coming from the Room Next Door! - comedy where everyone in this apartment is just really really into this one girl
@@jag3596 thank you so much. You have given me lots to read! 🙏 I appreciate it.
Noir is also a great anime
Ok so I would agree Citrus takes alot of ability for someone to step out of their cultural biases to enjoy and is problamatic without a doubt. But it is litterally my favorite Anime because if you strip away the problamatic elements you still have an amazing emotional story and growth of the chracters that continues in the Manga further than the Anime.
Yes, I just really wish they would’ve left out the non con stuff so the story itself would be even cuter
NO WAY IN HELL, *STRAWBERRY PANIC* WASNT IN THE LIST :/ THAT ANIME ARE LEGENDS 🥰 I RECOMMENDED IT AND IT GOT HAPPY ENDING TOO (and angst ofc) haha
YES I was just thinking this! That was my first yuri anime
Yes omg the first yuri anime I’ve watched
Yes ❤
@@Andy-jm3eqsame
I would recommend Sasameki Koto. The anime is enjoyable, but it stops before getting good lol and has some things that make you roll your eyes. The manga is infinitely better tho, especially after volume 1 because it gets away from the most prominent cliches and the story quality improves a lot 🤙
If you want a WLW anime/series that doesn't have any qualifiers definitely check out Asago to Kase-san (Kase-san and Morning Glories). It's a short 1 hour long OVA but it is arguably the best piece of allo-romantic anime out there. The manga continues the story into college and their relationship just gets even more intimate if you know what I mean haha.
Should probably point out that "Happy Sugar Life" is in the Horror and Psychological Horror genres so.. yeah its not gonna be for everyone.
For a much lighter mood I'll toss out another rec for Strawberry Panic; it's ridiculous and probably shows its age at this point but it's still great. Canaan's another fun older one though the relationship isn't the focus.
The quintessential classic sapphic anime is Revolutionary Girl Utena, and it's follow up The Adolescence of Utena. The original is chock to the brim with symbolism and very of its time. It won't be for everyone as many find it just too weird, but if you enjoy over analyzing media then Utena will give you no shortage of things to do that with.
If you don't mind being stuck in heavy subtext where the WlW is clearly there but never the direct focus; Madoka Magicka is a headtrip with a sapphic motivation for one of the lead characters but the show's more about other things (and best watched with no before hand knowledge).
Nana is a more slice of life entry. This ones all subtext, painfully obvious subtext but subtext even so, still its a lot of fun.
Sweet Blue Flowers was super cute and a clearly defined one as well.
The problem with queer anime is there is tons of queerbait, tons of barely disguised fanservice and tons of "it's never more than subtext" entries even still today. But occasionally you find some solid gems.
Sounds Interesting
Evelyn is finally talking anime......
Bloom into you is a masterpiece ! finally you hit the anime train Evelyn
the intro on this was so incredibly edited and made me giggle
kannazuki no miko destiny of shrine maiden is so far my favourite had a sad but beautiful ending I honestly did tear up a little.
I second this recommendation, it’s definitely a classic.
after watching 'Citrus' i think you have been a little hard on it, but then also you're new to anime.
Citrus is a well balanced anime on relationships, and the 12th episode expresses some important thought on 'any' relationship and friendship.
It's 2023 I think Citrus is just fine.
As an otaku expert I recomend:
To watch:
- Yuri is My Job!
- Asagao yo Kase-san (ova)
- Bloom into You
To read:
- Can't Defy the Lonely Girl
- Handsome Girl and Sheltered Girl
- Bad Thinking Diary
- The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't a Guy At All
- Sunstone (comic by Stjepan Sejic)
(You won't regret to read this even if you're not used to it but you love girls love stories)
I would like to mention "The Magical Revolution of The Reincarnated Princess And The Genius Young Lady". I hope you will enjoy this and I hope you shed happy tears.
30 seconds in and you had a new subscriber 😂😂😂😂
Would also recommend 'riddle story of the devil' 'Maria watches over us' and 'strawberry panic'
Your editing is so funny
got into the Anime game later in life but still a fan of Strawberry Panic and Revolutionary Girl Utena
Ahhh, so much to say on this topic for someone just dipping their toes in the water. All the tropes and harmful stereotypes in WLW anime/yuri were hard for me to accept when I first started getting into it. I also saw the humor in exaggerating and playing out those situations in the genre and could see it as a reclaiming in some work. Not all :) But I am still here reading and watching it avidly and rooting for it to own the space that belongs to it outside of the male gaze and other typically masculine power moves still peppered throughout. Lots of the "love" between women in manga I personally consider extremely codependent and toxic, and I rejoice in the stories that challenge the typical "I love you forever". That being said, here are some of my faves not listed in the video:
1. Your Name - okay, not actually WLW, but it has that feel to it. A boy and girl continually switch bodies and come to know each other through that experience. I won't spoil the rest. It's a fucking beautiful, sensitive film.
2. Land of the Lustrous - gems that are non-gendered fight spiritual forces that come through the sky to kidnap them. While officially non-gendered, the voices, movements, and all else speak of femininity. Also a beautifully artistic series.
3. Arcane League of Legends - one of the most creatively powerful series I've ever seen. Considered anime?
4. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power- everyone is gay :D
5. Owl House - get to the gay starting in season 2.
6. The Dragon Prince (Mystery of Aaravos)- super representative series so well done! WLW comes in subtext season 3 and very clear season 4.
7. DOTA Dragon's Blood - again, make it through season 1 to get to the gay in season 2
8. Scum's Wish - teenagers exploring sex from darker emotional places. Not the happiest of animes, but very honest imo with a wlw exploration in the mix.
Everything above is video, mostly on Netflix. For reading manga, I like Mangadex and here are my top picks in no particular order…
1. Lily Love 2 - erotic, hot and surprisingly honest character growth
2. Long Awaited Feelings - very fem and graceful, love the fashion of the main characters
3. A Monster Wants to Eat Me (Watashi o Tabetai, Hitodenashi) - dark, deals with depression and the will to live
4. Anemone is in Heat - sweet and wholesome
5. The Moon on a Rainy Night - also sweet and wholesome, a main character who is deaf
6. Soulmate - reincarnation
7. I'm in Love with the Villainess - adventure, magic
8. Tamen de Gushi - AWESOME long strip and story with humorous true friend connections, the author is currently only putting out art of the "close friendship" due to China's banning of homosexual art/literature
9. What Does the Fox Say - kinky, surprising character growth
10. The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't a Guy At All - rock n roll attracts opposites, modern
11. Urasekai Picnic - supernatural slow burn
12. Her Tale of Shim Chong - long strip, lovely with some surprise twists
13. Miss Angel and Miss Devil - silly and fun with serious moments
14. Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon - low key, slow moving romance between two questioning adult women
15. Love/Death - violent and humorous if you can get past the violence
Also a shout out to a few of my faves on Webtoon…
1. Mage & Demon Queen - humorous and magical
2. Everyday by Day - quick shots into the everyday lives of 4 wlw couples
And yes, the book Sunstone!!! Love that someone else named that here too.
So that's the last year of my life typed out 🤣 I hope this helps in someone's next explorations!
I feel like in anime/manga so often you just have to be able to mentally block out parts of the storyline to enjoy it more broadly.
Abusive relationships (physically or mentally or both) and iffy themes in general seem to be a pretty popular.
If you are looking for somewhat wholesome maintext GL (Girls' Love) animes with a happy ending on top you're already asking a lot from the genre - and they are sadly few and far between.
Here's a list of GL anime's that qualify with that (that I've watched and enjoyed):
- The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady (2023)
- Bloom onto you (2018)
- Sweet Blue Flowers/Aoi Hana (2009)
- Whispered Words (2009)
- Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl (2009) [some may argue it's not technically a yuri, as MC is a boy in ep1 that is then magically turned girl.. still pretty cute story though]
- Simoun (2006)
- Strawberry Panic! (2006)
- Kannazuki no Miko (2004) [Happy ending might be a little ambiguous - but I think it counts]
- Maria-sama ga Miteru (2004)
I think I should also mention:
- 'I'm in Love with the Villainess' which is set to air this October - and unless it takes a drastic turn away from the manga and light novels it will probably be added to my list.
and
- 'Mobile Suit Gundam - The Witch from Mercury' which is currently airing. It has a Female MC / heroine pairing. It might turn out to be just yuri bait, or it might turn into actual yuri. I'm 60%/40% on the former, but those are still good odds in the yuri anime world.
Anyway, I just hope this helps some people find something to watch and enjoy. :)
As an amine fan since Sailor Moon on toonami, I recommend Whispered Words. It's a good slice of life. Those the will they won't they is enough to throw bricks at the screen
Lmao 😂 love this channel. And thanks for this vid bc I know nothing ab anime but I’ll obviously do anything for some lesbian content
el cazador de la bruja is an oldie but not enough people watch it!! if you wanna try something that isn't just slice of life and school life, i would rec that
then there's the magical revolution of the reincarnated princess and the genius young lady which is soooo good. def rec that one too
Ok here are some recommendations! :
• Revolutionary girl Utena (super awesome, great characters, and about overthrowing the patriarchy, but a problem if you're gonna watch for the romance is that it is very much about subtext full of methaphors and stuff, everything about it, including the relationship
• Fragtime: Cute little film about time travel
• Kase-san & Morning Glories: very wholesome, cute short romance :')
• Liz and the bluebird: stunniiiing film
Sweet Blue Flowers: very beautiful too
• Mysteria Friends: relaxing great looking short anime, set in a magical school
...you're making me EXTREMELY curious about Happy Sugar life now woman xD
I'm very disappointed there is no second season for citrus and bloom in to you 😔 they're my favorite
Here's some more for yall: Revolutionary Girl Utena
Kanazuki No Miko
Riddle Story Of Devil
Pulse (It's a Manga but it's gas)
I relate to adachi its so simple and nice and bloom into you and citrus are my fav
❤❤❤The reaction/ recommendations😊
Yessssss. Bloom Into You is definitely my favorite. I hate how much I relate to both of them.
Oh and "lycoris recoil"has a definite vibe between the main characters...
Also in the uk anyone tell me where I can bloom into you please?
As someone who has seen way more anime then I'm willing to admit, I agree! Bloom Into You is an amazing anime!!! Definitely my favorite anime of all time! Also I love Adachi and Shimamura too!
Although I'm a little curious, in this video you said you've seen 5 WLW anime in total. However, you only mention 4 different WLW anime in this video. If you don’t mind me asking, what is the 5th WLW anime you've seen? (Honestly this is just curiosity killing the cat.) 🙂
There are amazing recommendations in the comments! Thanks to all of you!
Yessss!!! I loved Citrus!!
I recently watched The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady is pretty good, Bloom into You is one of my favorites, you should definitely watch Strawberry Panic
Hi,when are you gonna upload your reaction to gap the series been waiting for you to do it
omg you really watched happy sugar life as one of your first? damn.. i mean, i love that kind of stuff, i cried so hard at the end, it was just fucked up people in fucked up situations that ended as you expected to end but i loved it all. How about watching gundam witch from mercury? it seems to be a good introduction to gundam series and even if the yuri is kind of in subtext the girls are "groom and bride" to each other at the start of the show, and the redheaded girl seems to fall pretty deeply for her partner, although it seems to be a really angts show... also, otherside picnic has an anime i havent watch, i have read the manga tho and if you link "ghost" stories and creepy stuff you would like to watch that one too, its yuri with some terror around since the girls travel between "dimensions". Awesome video btw!
My three favorite yuri animes. Citrus is my favorite manga but I prefer bloom into you as an adaptation to anime. But both of them, finish the first season before the best part of their stories. And Adachi and Shimamura is a very differente type of yuri story and is slow but necessary slow for the story. Adachi and Shimamura needs patience but it is worth it. It needs a leap of faith.
Not an anime fan but I think I will go watch these 😊
My recommendation would be Yuri Kuma Arashi. Its kinda weird but in a good way. Also if you like kissing, Sakura Trick is something u would like
I am like you and I am new to anime so... thanks so much ;D
1:01 glasses yeah right
Bloom into You finished up in the books. Which was a great ending.
I would like to recommend Asagao to Kase-san, it's only a short movie but it's super cute!
An anime i would recommend(becuase i haven't really seen people mention it) is Sasameki Koto. It's so cute, but so frustrating at the same time. Definitely one of my faves.
Citrus will always be my love
One of my all time favorite wlw anime that I haven't seen on the list is "Oniisama e". It was released in 1991 based on a manga from the 70's. It follows a girl who joins a sorority at an all-girls school. Big TWs for drugs, suicide, incest, etc. I HIGHLY recommend it.
These 3 are my favorite, thanks for making this video!!🌈🏳️🌈
Y'all i need your help😭 so i have this lesbian period movie i was planning on watching a few months ago but i forgot about it and i now i cant remember the name. It's a lesbian period movie about art especially women art if im not mistaken. It's not a popular movie but it looks good and i really want to watch it. Help me find this movie would u??😢😢
Strawberry Panic!, Maria sama ga miteru, Mai hime, kannazuki no miko, simoun, el candor de la bruja
I recommande Kannazuki no Miko and strawberry panic
Maybe I should try anime 😂❤
i love the bloom into you manga
HEKP THE D4DJ THUMBNAIL😭
My recommendations:
Strawberry Panic (the best of all)
Maria Watches Over Us
Sweet Blue Flowers (Nice one)
Kannazuki no Miko (trigger warning)
Maria Holic
Sakura Trick
Sasameki no Koto (another nice one)
Saki
Blue Drop: Tenshi-tachi no Gikyoku (u will want more but there is none)
PD: I'm old what can i say.
I agree bloom into you is the best
There's lot of good (new) yuri like: Revolution of reincarnated princess and genuis lady, executioner and the way of her life, Lycoris Recoil, Gundam Witch from Mercury Season 2, BWGGS, Alice Gear, i dunno when this gonna drop but i've read the LN and its greate they got married and have child in end- I favor the villainess.
there is also old but great also: netzuo trap, fragtime, and destiny of the shrine maiden, miss kiyoshibaki, and demon girl next door.
I've seen pretty much every shoujo ai/yuri anime in existence. The only one I enjoyed from this list was Bloom into You.
I'd recommend: Madoka Magicia, Kannazuki no Miko, Strawberry Panic, Ga Rei Zero, Love Bullet, & Akuma no Riddle.
I also loove a second Anime😊
Haha Evelyn you definitely need to watch more anime
STRAWBERRY PANIC
Gundam Witch from mercury....
You guys should try it
Did you hear my thoughts
for the past week i was looking for lesbian anime 😅
😢 when someone says don't watch this , that is what people will watch, thank you .. I'll bookmark Happy Sugar Life and Citrus
So... when are you going to make a "Happy sugar life" review???? Asking for a friend
I remember watching citrus and thinking it was f'd up. But I didn't remember why lol. I think I watched the whole thing though
Adachi and Shimamura never click for me, Bloom into You on the other hand is amazing and I love it very much hell I'm watching again hahahaha and Citrus oh what can I say, you're right is problematic and I didn't like it, I draw the line at assault.
There's so little Yuri out in the world and it was nice of you to share, if you're interested I can recommend Strawberry Panic!, I watch a lot of it and that one is one of my favorites.
nobody will say this one but i have the mighty need to mention my favorite anime of all time: yuruyuri, unlike the ones in the video it's not a romance story but there very much is romance lol, it's lighthearted slice of life stuff, very funny and very gay, it's about these girls in a school club that take on random activities, general school life and hanging out, featuring a bunch of their other classmates, it's not very popular in english speaking countries but it's 🔥 so good
Gonna add one more to the Shoujo Kakumei Utena recs because this one got such a big place in my heart since I discovered the anime at, like, 11 - which is way too young to understand all the complexities but yah, it still had a big effect on me lol. It also used to stand out a lot because the whole Japanese ‘homosexuality is a fetish’ mentality was prevalent in a lot of BL/GL works back then, meaning the subject of oppression was very often utterly ignored. But SKU got Juri, who’s very much internalized homophobia/misogyny personified, while Utena is a gender non-conforming girl who can and will do what boys do + whose love for Anthy is very clear without being sexualized (…although the movie is here for it if you wanna). It doesn’t have the best art and deals with fucked up themes, but it is indeed super weird and feminist and I’ll forever cherish it aha
Should read Strawberry Fields Once Again. It’s a 3 book series. Read it in one sitting. I’ve also read all of Citrus I agree Game of Thrones broke me haha. Are a few other good Mangas GL stories.
Have you watched Strawberry Panic yet? that one really got me! xxx
In citrus it’s on and off step-father for Yuzu so it’s not full insect but still partly is
"Yuri is my job! " is a really good one too. And "miss Kobayashis dragon maid" is another good one
As I'm watching this video I was trying to come up with enthusiastic ways of saying "thank you thank you thank you". Then I came to the part where you shipped Jon Daenerys...😮😮😮😢🤦🏽♀️ How dare you Evelyn 😤 🏃🏽♀️💨
Some f/f anime recommendations for the future.
1. Kashimashi Girl Meets Girl
After being rejected by his crush Yasuna, Hazumu runs to his favourite hill to cope with his broken heart, when an alien ship crashes and kills him. The aliens were able to bring him back to life, but he ended up getting turned into a girl. Now in her new body, Hazumu returns to everyday life, except one big thing has changed. Her childhood friend Tomari, as well as her crush Yasuna, both develop feelings for Hazumu, who is conflicted on which girl's feelings she should reciprocate. Basically, Hazumu can be classified as transgender and learns to adjust with her new body, while Tomari and Yasuna learn about sexuality and come to terms with their growing feelings towards Hazumu.
2. Aoi Hana/Sweet Blue Flowers
Fumi moves back home to the town that she was in for first grade before her family's initial move approximately one decade earlier. She reconnects with her childhood friend Akira, who goes to a different high school than Fumi, but both high schools aren't far apart from one another, as Fumi and Akira get off at the same train station on the way to school. The series is basically Fumi coming to terms with the meaning of love and who she may be in love with following a brief relationship with Sugimoto, who asks Fumi who her first crush was.
3. Sasameki Koto/Whispered Words
Sumika has a crush on classmate Ushio Kanada, but the latter is only interested in dating cute girls. Sumika's tall frame and athletic abilities keep her from being the type of cute girl Ushio wants, even when she wears clothes that fall under the "cute/adorable" category. One evening, Sumika and Ushio go to a classroom to watch the sunset, only to find two other girls kissing in the classroom that they wanted to use. A day later, Sumika finds Ushio heartbroken in the library and holds her close to comfort her. Ushio wanted to tell another girl about her feelings for said girl while re-shelving returned books, only to receive a heavy rejection because the other girl was jealous of her.
4. Sakura Trick
Middle school friends Haruka and Yuu begin their high school journey by learning that their selected high school will be shutting down in 3 years, basically making their group of first years the last group to enrol in the school. Despite being seated on opposite ends of the classroom, they begin a secret romantic relationship after sharing their first kiss in an empty classroom. However, Yuu's older sister learns about their secret relationship and does whatever she can to end it for an unknown reason.
I kept it to 4 but there are more out there.
People... Want more Bloom into you and Citrus? Read the mangas. It will happen all you wanted to in the anime. For Adachi Shim I haven't seen the manga... Same for The Magical Revolution of Anisphia and Euphylia .. mangabis still ongoing.
Bloom Into You Is definitely #1 also Dang... I'm about to watch Happy Sugar Life. IF YOU'D LIKE I can give you a list of many Yuri animes that are AMAZING! I think I have a watchlist of over 30 Yuri Anime's on it. Also is it just me or do yall also feel like every single yuri anime you have characters you basically relate to in every single way. Like in Bloom Into You I relate to Yuu in every way possible.
Adachi to Shimamura i recommend reading the novel since the anime doesn't get to the point and it doesn't show how interesting Shimamura is.
-The magical revolution of the reincarnated princess... something
-Fragtime
-Harmony
-Asagao to Kase-San
-Netsuzou Trap
-Yuri Kuma Arashi
Kannazuki no miko
I hate to admit this… but I did enjoy Citrus. Yeah there were problems but I just put those aside 🥴🥴 I didn’t like how their “relationship” was a back and forth thing, but I binged it so fast so 💁♀️
Same here
At least it wasn't NTR Netsuzou TRap levels of bad.
My take of this vidéo is that I MUST watch Happy Sugar Life!
No cause all she did was make me wanna watch it 😂
As much as I enjoyed some yuri animes, I have to say that its mostly baiting. The characters are "good friends" but the anime portrays them as more than that. But most of the time you don't see anyone do anything beside blushing
I heard this one UA-camr say instead of baiting sometimes it is subtext just without kissing. Which was interesting for me to wrap my head around
Adachi and Shimamura is a wonderful story that to me has no actual romance in it, but rather Adachi's self proclaimed love for Shimamura and how this stories shows the angst and difficulties of a shut-in's attempt to come out to meet the world Shimamura lives in and figure out how to express her feelings to her. I can understand Adachi's issue completely but coming from a different background. Due to the want to keep sanity and help my brothers through a childhood filled with torture and blood, I made a conscious decision to trade emotions for strength. This was necessary and helpful until you get out into the real world and all of a sudden you are fearful of interpersonal relationships because you never learned what it was liked to be a normal human. You fumble and misstep, but I think the saving grace for Adachi is that Shimamura's thinking just floats along which means she doesn't really get what Adachi is trying to do. I just started reading the light novels for this series.
Bloom Into You, nothing I can add, it will be a classic.
In Citrus, I've not read the first part of the series (vol 1-10) in quite a while, but I don't understand where you get Mei and Yuzu "sexually assaulting" each other. If it is because they have just recently become stepsisters, just 17 years old I believe (beg Senior Yr), I think that becomes highly debatable. I think it's the story of two characters who fall in love, where one has been raised in a fairly normal single parent family while the other has a lot of internalized trauma and other issues that make it difficult for her to understand what she really wants and how to go about reaching out for it. It is a very touching story in so many ways and highlights the problems of societies which regard children as property of parents born only to do their bidding and of which their own feelings are inconsequential. I wish they would have taken the anime further.
I have been watching yuri anime for over a dozen years, back to when most of it released here in the U.S. was just subtext yuri and series such as Sailor Moon had the Canon lesbian couple, treated as cousins in the U.S. release. And there are other series yuri anime such as the new Mobile Suit Gundam; The Witch from Mercury, which at first viewers may think is just another mecha show, but it's the relationship between the to female protagonists that really is the main focus and though there are light times, there are many serious events and relationship interactions during the serious. I am not a mecha fan at all, but I have found the serious at times touching, heartbreaking, and other emotions.
Lycoris Recoil. See it. Feel it. Be it.
Happy suger life is one of the best psychological anime
If u have seen strawberry panic then u are missing out
I havent seen a yuri anime in ages. I actually havent watched any anime really in ages besides passively watching Jojo while my gf had it on but these are the ones i remember
Sasameki Koto - had a troubled run and they never actually finished the anime unfortunately but the manga was still good i think?
Aoi Hana (Sweet Blue Flowers) - i found it a little frustrating but it has an actual ending so theres that. i really cant remember details about these shows lol
Kannazuki No miko - is about 2 souls one drawn to the other who seems confused or ambivalent about the whole thing. its tragic. i remember watching it here on youtube. but its good enough that it left a real impression
I remember there being some episodes of Maria Watches Over Us which isn't...overt in its queerness? but its about intense female relationships at a catholic school so you know, gay
everyone will be yuri fan someday
Anybody a fan of whispered words ?
Yup - Bloom Into You (Two girls, yes, but one is demiromantic and the other is lithromantic-some dark scenes that made me very uncomfortable), Sasameki Koto (loved this one, but it needed to keep going), Aoi Hana (also one that wasn't long enough, imho-So sweet!), Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl (trans girl - magical/technological transformation of an already trans girl who hadn't realized it yet-love triangle with a romantic ace in the wings, helping them along; super sweet and heart-wrenching), Kase-san and Morning Glories (meh), Fragtime (sci-fi romance reminiscent of The Girl, the Gold Watch, and Everything), Citrus (abusive relationship with no justification), Girlfriends (manga-sweet and fairly realistic).
These are shoujo-ai. Looking for yuri gets you into ecchi, hentai, and male gaze territory. Not like that doesn't exist in these titles, but it's... less.
Sexy and sad girl who is both sexy and sad. Im watching Citrus and jfc do they never get past their weird assaulting each other stage? The opening titles seem to indicate they become regular gfs? I'll have to check out the other two though!
They do get past it. I also read the manga which has a nice ending. I think, had they been cold flirting in the beginning instead of force-kissing each other would've made their mutual desire clearer, but on another hand it shows how terrible education and heteronormativity reflected on them. Throughout the story, they learn how to love, respect and trust each other. But overall it still is as messy as a good old fashioned fanfiction and I still dig it
@@saedbl6307 I thought it seemed like they were learning to trust each other.
Watch strawberry panic🍓🍰
