I have never rolled my eyes harder than this. And while we’re on this subject please keep in mind that sociopathy and psychopathy are extremely outdated terms and you can’t get professionally diagnosed with either of them nowadays. The disorder you’re most likely thinking of is instead called aspd aka anti-social personality disorder. Which is yes, characterized by lack of empathy, but people with aspd are not inherently dangerous or bad because empathy does not equal care, morality or compassion. And while you can be born with it, it is most often caused by severe childhood trauma just like any other personality disorder. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Even people who have the characteristics of a sociopath or psychopath, or _are_ one, don’t always end up becoming terrible people. It kind of just depends on the person and how they were raised, and also if they received or are receiving treatment and therapy. But I do completely agree with you. This video makes me sick.

This is so frustrating. You get to be "sociopathic" today, but tomorr you can decide on something else, since you dont actually have the disorder. You just wanna use it to feel cool and be relatable real quick, but the difference is I dont get to wake up tomorr and *choose* to not have mental illness. It's something I deal with every single day, and it's so distressing that at 23 I have no job, no car, no license, no college, I dont see my friends but maybe once a year and cant talk to them for weeks at a time, I live with my mother and her bf in a very toxic household.. I can go on, bc it affects my whole life and not in a good way for the better. Tomorr, you get to wake up and just not be a "sociopath" when it no longer feels fun for you. People with mental disorders, we dont get that choice. So it's very rude and uncalled for to joke about it in such a light manner. Also, who knows, maybe the uploader IS a sociopath. Edit: hi, when I said if she wrote serial killer instead, I meant that as a topic you could change out for the video itself to still make sense, not an interchangeable term to sociopath. It's all a misunderstanding because I never said AND I don't think sociopaths are the same as serial killers. What I meant by this, is if she replaced her wording to a COMPLETLY DIFFERENT group, the only non offensive group I could think of to put there is serial killer and if she did, you people would still be here trying to come to their rescue. I could have put OCD, but I did not because I'm not insensitive to the struggle people have with that and people would be in the right to call her out if it were that. Then again, she could have OCD so if she had put that and not sociopath, then I change my mind she shouldn't be called out for that either. Also, I'm not Christian anymore so I don't care abt jesus. Edit: someone made a good point, perfectionist behavior would also work. If you still think I "compared sociopaths to serial killers" then switch out where I said serial killer for perfectionist behavior to see that it's a misunderstanding of perspective. If I had thought of to put perfectionist behavior, would i be then comparing perfectionist behavior with sociopaths? No. This is what I mean by it's a misunderstanding and they way I wrote it has a different meaning than the way you're reading it. Ex. And while we’re on this subject please keep in mind that sociopathy and psychopathy are extremely outdated terms and you can’t get professionally diagnosed with either of them nowadays.

By all means, I make jokes sometimes about my mental disorders, but they're *my* mental disorders. As in, I'm diagnosed and on medications. I'm trying to lighten the mood on a very hard discussion when I make those jokes. Not trying to feel relatable or look cool. This video is so disrespectful.

Having OCD is like Hell on Earth because people really don't understand why you have to do something or why something takes so long to do. Any time I go to the bathroom I have to pump the soap a certain amount of times before I can wash my hands and lord forbid anyone ask me to hangout last minute in case I haven't showered yet or else it'll take 30 minutes to an hour just to get ready AND be comfortable leaving the house as I double check the FUCKING LOCK to make sure none of my animals can get out and run into the street. OCD isn't funny, it's not fun, it doesn't mean you're a clean freak. It's your own body holding you hostage till you do what it wants.

Why do people care so much? Sociopaths literally don't care about the wellbeing of anyone but themselves, and are probably unfazed when they watched the vid. She was making a joke abt cutting a tiny square to glue over a mistake, something the average person doesn't do. I guess she should have just wrote, "serial killer" instead, or would people be going off about how serial killers are sick people that have mental illnesses and shouldnt be joked about?
