    Took Atreyu to the vet and his CCL has a complete tear and definitely needs surgery. I'll be getting that done asap, and will keep you guys updated. It'll sure put a damper on the next couple months of camping plans though.. :(

      I used to be a veterinary technician. When we did CCL surgeries, the dogs recovered quickly, much more quickly than a person recovers from ACL surgery (it's called "Cranial Cruciate" rather than "Anterior Cruciate" because in canine anatomy "cranial" means toward the head since a dog stands on all fours, whereas Anterior in humans means something like "toward the front" - I didn't take human anatomy though lol). So Atreyu should make a quick recovery :) Wish him the best!

      I'm sorry to hear about your dog. My dog also tore her ACL 2 years ago(she was 4 at the time). After talking to a number of Vets we got a TPLO surgery for her. My wife and I worked really hard rehabbing the leg(I can't take to much credit, my wife is an athletic therapist and did a lot of the work lol) and it took about 6 months to get her to 100%. She is a 60 lbs husky, golden retriever mix, and she hasn't had any issues since the surgery. I wish you guys the best of luck and hope Atreyu has a quick recovery!

    My dog (lab pit mix) had that surgery last year for a torn ACL. About a one month recovery and she was a brand new dog! If she has a big day of running she will limp slightly for a couple hours, but for the most part, I’d definitely recommend the surgery!!! Hope he gets better!!!

    Great video again. I think that picking up someone else's trash is always a good idea, someone needs to be responsible. Just like with the Hayman Fire, it's amazing how just one person can cause so much damage that will affect an area longer than will be alive. So everyone needs to do their part in protecting our wilderness areas.

    Both of my old dogs tore their ACL’s in their later years. We weighed pros and cons of surgery at the time and ended up not going ahead with the surgery. I forget the exact explanation the vet gave but it was something like the injury forms callus’ around where it was torn. So although it won’t ever be fully healed, they get a lot of use back in the leg. They both “healed” up just fine. They were never 100% but could still run around, have fun and be a dog 👍🏼

    I can vouch for Olight, the brand is highly respected in the flashlight community. I personally have 6 of their products and use the H2R Nova every day for work. They are extremely tough and everything they make is water proof. Their user interface is my personal favorite and the fit/finish on them is perfect. I've often said, they make their stuff like they have something to prove. You honestly can't go wrong with an Olight.

    Mike,my dog blew out his anterior cruciate ligament and we opted for the surgery and $2200 later he was good.The problem is that he blew the other one less than a year later-and the Vet said we didn’t have to do the surgery-that he would heal fine-which he did.Basically a really profitable deal for them-and Stormy is just fine a year later-and jumps just as well as he did before.I would say if you haven’t done it-don’t.Your dog knows something is wrong,and this is why he’s limping,but the pain subsides quickly and he’ll bounce back fine.

    @Mohillbilly1 5 років тому

    Hey brother. I'm a veterinarian. We do lots of acl surgeries. The two procedures that I would recommend for him would be a TPLO or a TTA. These are both procedures that involve cutting the bone and putting either a Stainless plate (TPLO) or a titanium foam wedge (TTA) in the proximal tibia. Both these procedures change the slope of the knee creating an angle that no longer requires the acl. Both of these procedures if done by a skilled surgeon work well and typically create a very functional leg post healing. The TPLO is a little longer in the healing process and return to function for the dog. You are looking at roughly 8 weeks of restricted activity with both of the procedures. As with all orthopedic procedures there can be complications. However, if a skilled surgeon performs the surgery and you fulfill the after care they tend to do quite well.
