There`s a recording of Paco de Lucia watching one of his concerts and Paco himself stood up in applause. And it was many years ago. Yamandu is like wine...only gets better and better with time

@@jennifersmusicpage yeah there is a lot of tributes to Raphael Rabello, but I recomend you looking at "Estudo No.1 (Villa-Lobos) - Raphael Rabello [HD]". In the second movement he does something supernatural to the music.
I saw him live on 6/8/24, and my jaw still hasn't come back up to meet the rest of my face. He was charming and funny, despite the language barrier... and perhaps in an even better mood because there was a Portuguese festival all-day before the show. His guest player was Paquito D'Rivera, a clarinet wizard, and their short set was magnificent and fun.
Yamandu Costa is one of Brazilian masters in a 7-string guitar, which is unique from this country. I am really glad our music is reachiing people all over the world through the work of wonderful players like Yamandu
O violão de 7 cordas não é de origem brasileira nem exclusividade nossa. Yamandu fez uma série de vídeos onde ele percorre vários países em busca da origem, vale a pena assistir. Tem aqui no youtube.
Because both Bossa Nova and Samba are heavy on syncopation, Brazilian musicians get very used to producing 1/8 or 1/16 beats and off-beat sounds and that naturally leads to very clean sound.

That was a time when blood was not yet tested and after that, everything led to a bad ending. Raphael had to take medication because the virus attacked the immune system, which caused addiction. Yamandu Costa is a brazilian classical guitar genius, born in Passo Fundo (1980), in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. He composed the piece Samba Pro Rapha in honor of fellow brazilian guitarist Raphael Rabello, deceased in Rio de Janeiro (1995). Evohé, Yamandu Costa!
One suggestion, watch the video Rafhael Rabello "Heineken Concerts 1993" especially Samba do Avião and Samba de uma Nota Só (Before, watch Samba do Avião and Samba de uma Nota Só by Tom Jobim-Montreal). Rabello also plays Samba do Avião para Paco de Lucia (video youtube). To finish "Raphael Rabelo - Sampa - Jazz Brasil 1993 (Before, listen Sampa by Caetano Veloso)
It's great to have seen your video, it made me revisit Raphael Rabello, world music genius. The video "ensaio Raphael Rabello 31/07/2016" is wonderful too. Unfortunately Raphael passed away very young, in 1995. Thank so much Jennifer. With love, Humberto from Brazil.
I cant listen to this, any "classical guitar" that has the ABOMINATION of an extra string has had its tonal qualities UTTERLY DESTROYED. I dont even need to LOOK to know there is something terribly wrong wtih the way a piece of music sounds when played on one of these horrendous instruments. The guiar is 100% perfect and adding anything to it is subtracting everything from it.
The seven string guitar is not an abomination. It ís a very common instrument in Brazilian, Mexican and Russian musical scenery, among others. The seven string was not added to a standard six string. it came from the 12 string guitar

I'm brazilian composer and I love every song Yamandu plays!! He plays in another level where the sounds become such pure feelings!
He’s amazing!! Thanks for watching ❤️
I've listened to Samba Pro Rapha a hundred times and it still blows me away.
Rapha is a short for Raphael Rabello, another Brazilian guitar virtuoso.
Nice I need to react to his stuff too. Do you know if someone made a tribute page for him or anything? I’m gonna look
@@jennifersmusicpage Here on youtube you find plenty of videos of him playing. And on spotify some of his records are available.
