It sounded like you said that the radio only had 16 channels. For clarification, the radio has 12 banks of 16 channels. You can use 1 for your locals, another for FRS/GMRS, another for marine channels, another for a neighboring city, another for your vacation spot. Etc. The channel banks are programmed from the phone APP, but are stored on the radio.
Looks impressive. The memory bank switching using a side key which their site says is a thing might win over some folk who don't want the whole rigmarole of downloading memory banks from the app.
You don’t have to switch banks from the APP, whatever is loaded onto the APP is automatically loaded into the radio. The APP just makes it very easy to load up frequencies. Locals, FRS/GMRS, vacation areas or nearby cities can be placed in each bank.
I would have liked to see more features explored. It claims ip67 - a test would be nice. Still, first I've heard of this radio so maybe i can find a more thorough review. I dont mind some stuff being app bound, but id love a look at what requires the app and what you can do without it.
I have the Retevis RT99 which is the headless rig type and uses the HT app, loads of possibilities with it but the lack of VFO means I dont use it as much as I Could
I'm not sure if (it's just me) But I find that ALL (SDR based) Radios don't receive the AM Band all that well... some do a bit better than others (Perhaps using a bit of filtering and Digital Signal Processing) . However it still does not perform as well as ( Old School) Analog Demodulation for AM. (No complaints when it comes to the FM Audio Quality) 👍 (Nice Radio overall) Air Craft Band is not all that important.
I suspect it's the demodulation. AM mostly requires AGC to be useful at all and I never found it to be implemented well, often too fast, sometimes too slow, too strong, or not strong enough. Flex Radio does it very well.
@@TechMindsOfficial that’s too bad. I’m waiting for a mobile rig with an app integrated with CarPlay. I already have that big touch screen in my car - if only I could make it be the rig’s front panel….
Interesting. I like the APRS map function/display on the app. Is there a way to send and receive messages using the radio without the application? Like sending an APRS SMS message to cellphones?
@@GratKeydet From other videos I've seen, it appears like the keypad works fine, the first press is the number which is a little weird but otherwise same as all other phone style keypads. All letters and symbols also appear on screen, which may have confused the other commenter
Why do ham radio makers (Japanese and Chinese) insist on having FM and AM broadcast? It compromises the filtering causing blocking on 2m. Perhaps the far east users don't have AM/FM in their cars?
Thanks for letting me know. I have removed the Surlli links and put in place the correct links. AliExpress looks like they have changed shipping desinations since I uploaded the video for the N76. I guess best to buy direct and use my coupon for some money off. Thanks again.
I often see these "clean transmit" videos and what most of the current licensed radio operators fail to understand is that the vast majority of new radio users starting just don't care.

I clarified what you just wrote at the end of the video.

Thanks Matt another great review
I hope the app is in continuous development.... there is meat on this bone.
Air band sounded pretty dire on the video. Of all the hand helds I've tried, the FT70D sounds the clearest.

A couple of other reviews show it being dunked.

@@AC9BXEric I should hope that a FLEX Radio Does well at those prices 😊💲💰 Perhaps they do it right using a (Hybrid Mix) Of SDR Digital and Analog
Does the app route audio to/from the radio as well so the phone/tablet becomes a speaker-mic? That’s not clear from your description…
Yes, but only with the Android version of the app.

Do you know how to get it to transmitt on the American nature radio bands. Cause mine says out of frequency . On 147.240 or 448.680

Yes but it's a pain the but as you have to use the up down arrow to.go through all the letters and symbols

Item unavailable in UK acording to Aliexpress and the surlli link doesn't work either. Is it just me?
