Same here. Just found my cd in storage that he sent me - was itching to hear this again. Then, just now, I gambled, because I was never able to find it on youtube - and found it instantly! What a blessing. Such a perfect song.
I am so glad I finally found this song! I, as several others, loved hearing this song on Family Radio from way back. Family Radio now is so repetitive it's a shame and they no longer play the old, old hymns they used to.
Same here. I was a kid in the 80s, and my parents listened to Family Radio 24/7 ... Life with meaning was the tag phrase. I was always intrigued by this song. So glad I found it, So soothing and holy. Amen everyone! God Bless you all!
One of the most influential songs I heard on Family Radio while training at Mather Air Force base in Rancho Cordoba. I most strongly considered my fate before the Lord on Judgement Day and how desperate I was to know Jesus as my Savior.
I knew a man and he had plenty Placed it in great barns to store Told his soul to take it easy Saying you need nothing more Proudly he assessed his riches Full of self sufficiency But by the dawn the Lord had spoken They say thy soul is required of thee What doth it profit a man if he gained the whole world And lose his own soul For what could he give in exchange for his soul? But blessed of what measure is he whose God is the Lord And trusting his word like a tree planted by the river of life he shall be I knew man and he had plenty Young and very rich was he Asked the Lord one day to tell him How to live for eternity You must keep the Ten Commandments Keep them I say perfectly Then give your wealth unto the poor and take up your cross and come follow me What doth it profit a man if he gained the whole world And lose his own soul For what could he give in exchange for his soul? But blessed of what measure is he whose God is the Lord And trusting his word like a tree planted by the river of life he shall be I knew a man and he had plenty The whole universe he made Then from Love He came from Heaven to a manger cold was laid He was born to be the savior Heaven’s glories he denied Bore a cross to calvary and there for our sins he was crucified What doth it profit a man if he gained the whole world And lose his own soul. For what could he give in exchange for his soul? But blessed of what measure is he whose God is the Lord And trusting his word like a tree planted by the river of life he shall be Like tree planted by the river of life he shall be Like a tree planted by the river of life he shall be And trusting his word like a tree planted by the river of life he shall be

I knew a man and he had plenty
Placed it in great barns to store
Told his soul to take it easy
Saying you need nothing more
Proudly he assessed his riches
Full of self sufficiency
But by the dawn the Lord had spoken
They say thy soul is required of thee
What doth it profit a man if he gained the whole world
And lose his own soul
For what could he give in exchange for his soul?
But blessed of what measure is he whose God is the Lord
And trusting his word like a tree planted by the river of life he shall be
I knew man and he had plenty
Young and very rich was he
Asked the Lord one day to tell him
How to live for eternity
You must keep the Ten Commandments
Keep them I say perfectly
Then give your wealth unto the poor and take up your cross and come follow me
What doth it profit a man if he gained the whole world
And lose his own soul
For what could he give in exchange for his soul?
But blessed of what measure is he whose God is the Lord
And trusting his word like a tree planted by the river of life he shall be
I knew a man and he had plenty
The whole universe he made
Then from Love He came from Heaven to a manger cold was laid
He was born to be the savior Heaven’s glories he denied
Bore a cross to calvary and there for our sins he was crucified
What doth it profit a man if he gained the whole world
And lose his own soul. For what could he give in exchange for his soul? But blessed of what measure is he whose God is the Lord
And trusting his word like a tree planted by the river of life he shall be
Like tree planted by the river of life he shall be
Like a tree planted by the river of life he shall be
And trusting his word like a tree planted by the river of life he shall be
hallelujah
