Thank you for this video. I watched this video like 50 times before my interview. I found out today that I passed for the fall 2018 intake! I can't wait.
This video could not be timed more perfectly! I'm currently waiting to be contacted about an interview and am beginning to prepare for it :) Thank you for all the tips & tricks :)
good luck!! :D im just watching all these videos (im only going into my 2nd of 3 year BA so I still have a long way to go) getting an idea of how to prepare for this journey.... i hope your interview went well!
What happens if you dont pass the interview? Do you have any suggestions what to do after since gathering all the documents and background check costs so much already??
If you don't pass the EPIK interview and you don't want to wait for the next application period, you could try for a hagwon job. Since you already have your documents finding a hagwon job would be a really quick process. There are plenty of recruiters you can apply to beforehand (ESLKorea, Korvia, Appletree, etc.), and they will send your resume to schools in the location that you are interested in that fit your teaching interests (hours, grade levels, etc.) and set up an interview time for you.
Hi girls, I had my interview today for the fall 2018 term. I'm getting so anxious because I've been thinking about all the minor mistakes I made during the interview and you know when you just overthink and ahhhh!! My interview lasted around 30 mins and the co-ordinator finished off by stating all the documents he will want from me, saying that I should start saving some money etc. and applying and gathering documents etc. From this I kind of felt that he was talking as if I already got through and was preparing me for the next steps. I'm wondering if this is just a normal part of the epik interview or if I'm just getting my hopes up.... the waiting game is so stressful!
I was wondering what TEFL you guys did because I heard since a lot of people are going to South Korea to teach, apparently they are or going to be more strict in what TEFL/ESL/TESOL people should have. I know a lot of people do the TEFL online but not sure if that is useful comparing to going to an actual classroom and be taught etc. Only asking because online is way cheaper than something like a CELTA for example. And did you guys applied directly or via a agency?
We both went through i-to-i and actually talk about it briefly in our other EPIK related video around the 2 minute mark (ua-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=btbM-IOdB-4) To your second question, we both applied directly through EPIK but we also know people who applied through agencies such as Korvia
Thanks for such an informative video, guys! I have a quick question. I'm going to be a certified teacher here in the states [I will have my BSN in Elementary Ed with a reading endorsement (basically means I know how to teach kids to read), and an ESOL endorsement (I know how to teach kids English as a second language). I've done some research but haven't been able to find a straight answer. Do you think my ESOL endorsement would be able to serve as a replacement for a TEFL certification? Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for watching! If your degree is in education and you have a legit teaching license you don't have to complete a TEFL certificate. All of your endorsements will really beef up your application though!
do you not have to be applied to tefl when you submit your application or can you be in the middle of the course and still be accepted to teach? also do they accept more of in class tefl or is online just as acceptable?
Hi guys, thanks for your video. It was highly informative and a massive help :) I just had a question in regards to the timing of the EPIK interview. What times generally are the interviews arranged for? My issue is that I work full-time as a teaching assistant and live in the UK. By the time I finish work on the weekdays, it's midnight in Korea :/ Do you think the EPIK programme would be able to work around this or would it potentially get in the way? Any advice would be massively appreciated :)
Hi!! I have a question regarding when is the appropriate time to apply to EPIK. I want to teach abroad in August of 2018 and I'm still not sure when I should start looking for a sponsor company as well. Please help!!!!
Hi! If you want to come to Korea and teach starting in August 2018 then you should apply in February 2018 for their fall intake. And if you wanted to use a recruiting company to help you apply with EPIK, then now would be the time to start applying to them (ie. Korvia, Reach to Teach, etc.), or alternatively if you don't use a recruiting company (we didn't) then now would be the time to start getting your application/letters of recommendation ready to send to EPIK in February asap once they start accepting applications. Hope that helped! :)
To qualify for the E-2 visa that you need for the EPIK program you have to be a citizen of either Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, United States, or South Africa.
Yeah its an unfortunate requirement considering so many other countries have English speakers. There are other options though, so don't give up hope! (Also just replied to your other question on the other video :) hope we could help!)
Hey! According to the CEPA agreement Indians are now eligible to fill EPIK positions, as long as we meet their requirements. Please check their website if you're still interested.
helloooo~ i did some research bout EPIK program and it says that you should be from an english speaking country. my concern is that, I am Asian. I'm from the Philippines (hello from the Philippines 👋😊) and when i researched about Philippines being an English speaking country, it says that Philippines is the 3rd largest English speaking country in the world. btw, love your video ❤ really enjoyed it :D
Hi Summer Louise, The term "english speaking country" obviously covers a more wide range of countries but unfortunately a qualification for the EPIK program is to be a citizen of one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States or South Africa.
So I realized this morning that Korea is a day ahead. On their website they state that my interview is scheduled for Monday October 14 at 6:50 (US/PDT). Does this mean October 14 or October 13?
so google algorithm is like this person totally needs advice on the interview! Weeks AFTER it! thanks google though when i did my interview, the lady literally asked me why i wanted to teach in Korea four times - I was just like ? help ? (it's an especially funny question to ask multiple times because I speak Korean semi-fluently and have lived there before so; I consider it a second home - I didn't know what else they wanted lol)
@@ChenFromBklyn haha maybe :) and it went well - just trying to pull the documents together now - though unfortunately I need a document from someone who hasn't been reading her emails 😑 I just keep reminding myself I'll get them all soon haha
Thank you for this video. I watched this video like 50 times before my interview. I found out today that I passed for the fall 2018 intake! I can't wait.

Hello Chingus hi!! It did help tremendously!! Thank you so much. I didn't know how the process worked and I didn't want to miss it at all.
No problem! Good luck with your application, and let us know if you have any more questions!
Im an Indian! and if I do get a TEFL certificate, will I be able to take the epik program?:( thank u^^
To qualify for the E-2 visa that you need for the EPIK program you have to be a citizen of either Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, United States, or South Africa.
Hello Chingus Oh! I guess epik won't be on my list then😅 Can u please tell me... are there any muslim teachers??
Yeah its an unfortunate requirement considering so many other countries have English speakers. There are other options though, so don't give up hope! (Also just replied to your other question on the other video :) hope we could help!)
