    i'v seen tons of good reviews between the two cameras, including this one, and i still can't decide which one is really better..
    but i think a7sii is better in slow mo and low light. plus it doesnt over heat quickly

    Wow, this video has made me make my mind up. Gotta be A7S II for me. That low light capability is just phenomenal!

  • @TheCinegods

    Although they are both great video cameras a7sII is better for video due to low light capabilities and ability to shoot 1080p at 120fps which the A7rii only shoots 720p in 120fps. A7rii is a better camera for photography so to me non is better then the other just depends what youll be doing more of. Im looking to trade my A7rii for an A7sII since i do more videography then photography.

    I really still cant decide. I would shoot a lot of live concerts(in the dark place). Including video. And photographs for music Magazine. And I won't shoot stars.
    Is a7sii good enough for still photographs????
    And do a7rii handles low light which low as live house??
    I think the ability of taking 4k in APSC is big for me. Which unfortunately a7sii doesn't have. I maybe couldn't afford a lot of lenses and not allowed to carry them so.
    Oh help me anybody.

    Hi would you please answer me one question? Does a7s2 record 1080p hd video ONLY in apsc mode? or It can shoot 1080p in Full frame mode?

    • @ChrisBoland
      @ChrisBoland 7 років тому +1

      I picked up on this too. It was just badly worded - the S2 can definitely record 1080p in full frame mode. Rather than saying it can only record 1080 in APSC, they meant - in APSC it can only record 1080p - ie, no 4K In APSC.

    At 5:43, that's not true that the camera uses 3 axis stabilization when using the manual lens. Mark 2 camera will use 5 axis stabilization regardless if the lens use OSS or not. For the lens that use OSS, the yaw and pitch will be disabled on the sensor and that yaw and pitch will be handled by the lens instead. However, if you use the lens that doesn't have OSS, the sensor will take care of yaw and pitch and it's still 5 axis stabilization. That's why it can handle it very well when you use the manual lenses.

  • @CyrosonHD
    @CyrosonHD 8 років тому +3

    6:51 - Wait you can only shoot 1080p in APS-C Mode on the A7Sii, is this true or was that a mistake?

    • @BandH

      When you switch to movie mode or start recording a movie with [ File Format] set to [XAVC S 4K], [APS-C/Super 35mm] is locked to [Off]. If an APS-C size dedicated lens is attached, the edges of the screen may appear dark. When shooting 4K movies with this camera, we recommend using a lens compatible with the 35 mm full-frame format.

    Awesome. Very well done! I sorely wish the a7sii had the autofocus capability of the a7rii. It would be the perfect small video camera if it had that. I'm very pleased with the slog2 and slog3 options, dr, 4k, focus assist, etc... amazing camera. I like it much better than my red scarlet at this point.

    • @BandH
      @BandH  8 років тому +2

      Doug Guerra, from B&H, breaks down the key similarities and differences between the a7R II and the a7S II. Both cameras share the updated body design, five-axis in-body image stabilization that was first introduced by the a7 II, as well as offering advanced video features such as internal 4K recording and S-Log gamma settings. However, each camera offers its own distinct advantages for photographers and videographers. The a7R II, with its 42MP back side illuminated sensor and 399-point phase-detection autofocus, delivers high-resolution still images, while the a7S II features a 12.2MP sensor that’s optimized for low-light sensitivity and full-frame 4K quality, while also adding additional video-specific features. Which camera is right for you? Watch the video to find out! bit.ly/28MKwbu >Mark

    For astrophotography what would be the choice?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  5 років тому +1

      While the Sony Alpha a7S II has a much higher ISO range and can shoot video in much lower light, if you are using the camera for still astrophotography usage needs, the Sony a7R II Mirrorless Digital Camera has better low-light performance with less image noise, and as such, would be my recommendation between these two cameras for astrophotography usage needs. The a7R II also has about 2/3 stop more dynamic range and sees more colors with a wider color depth.

    i'd love to know your opinion on GH5s vs A7sII for independent cinema/documentary.
    I'd love to record videos in 10bits but at the same time I really prefer full frame bokehs

    • @BandH
      @BandH  5 років тому +1

      Both are great options and it really will be a matter of which way you want to go. You have laid out the heart of the differences between these cameras. The GH5s offers 10-Bit recording, it also offers 4K at up to 60fps and higher bit rates for the files. While the A7SII is a full frame camera that works exceptionally in low light conditions. Which of these features is most important to you will determine the right choice for you.
      Thanks!

    Hi there, when you compare bot cameras (7rii and7sii) with the girl sitting on the stairs, what picture profile you chose on both cameras and did you shot it in crop mode 1080p or 4k on the 7rii? And last one: one this particular shot, did you add any noise reduction in post?
    Thank you so much

    • @BandH
      @BandH  8 років тому +2

      +Markisen Marco - Unfortunately, Chase Kubasiak from Zacuto doesn’t mention what picture profile they shot the test shots in. As for noise reduction, I don’t know if they used any in post, though one would think for a comparison they would want to touch the files as little as possible in order to display an accurate account of what the video looks like out of the camera. The test with the girl sitting on the porch would be comparing the low light performance of the a7R II when shot in APS-C mode and the a7S II shot full frame both with 1080 video. *Christina* AskPhoto@bhphoto.com

    Why isn't the slog 2 vs slog 3 a major reason to buy the s ii over the r ii? Will the slog 3 that the As7 ii delivers get me further away from a dslr look than the A7r ii after its graded? I know lighting is the biggest factor in that but which camera would you recommended?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  8 років тому

      Slog 3 is a higher gamma curve and will provide better shadows with a contrast. Slog 3 would be better for cinematic editing and color correction , and would be closer to a cinema camcorder than a DSLR.

    • @BandH
      @BandH  8 років тому +2

      With the a7R II, shooting in the APS-C mode (super 35) has several advantages: it allows for full-pixel readout, which can result in sharper video; it has less noise at higher ISO; and one can use more lenses. *Christina* AskUA-cam@bhphoto.com

      +Troll literally it makes sense. But conventionally "mark" is used by Canon as you already know. It is just confusing when people use "mark" for Sony products. It kinda gives an impression that the people who use "mark" for Sony products have used Canon a lot previously and don't want to give up the language for one reason or other.
