Hey, OCM….for content like this, is the reason I watch your channel. What you are doing….is a very honest, candid, human, ……even christian thing to do for your fellow men (or women)…. …you are exposing scarred tissue and maybe still open wounds, just to make sure no one else gets hurt. But….if I had seen this video when I was 33, and had listened to it….I would have gotten here a lot sooner and it would have been easier…. Thanks for giving Young and not so young people A CHANCE…. This is a worthwhile effort. I’ve known people’s lives and marriages that have failed because of bad decisions like this. Keep up the Great Content. 🙏🏾😎⚓️
@ocmotivator your a great dude ! Thank you for coming on to UA-cam with important stuff like this not everyone has good people around with good sound advice. Alot of our financial mistakes are made on emotions. Luckily I had good advised people over many years. Sometimes I didn't listen. Here I am again wanting to pull the trigger on a 850 dollar payment (not even the 1800 you were talking about) and im very hesitant. That amount with all the other associated costs is a big pill to swallow every 4 weeks. AND I've waited many, many years to reach this day. I'm 47. Once again I think this has to take a 'back seat'. I'm wondering if not by now, will it ever come.
i have a new corvette on order right now been waiting over a year, im a GM of a harley dealer and business is tough after watching this video you convinced me NOT TO BUY IT RIGHT NOW!! i have been in your shoes before, but car guys are always hard to do the right thing.....thanks for this video its like you were speaking to me
Great story, thanks for sharing. My T/A is my first modern muscle car. I’ve for many years financed motorcycles and never once got tired of making the payment cause it’s a pleasure vehicle. Same with this Challenger. For a daily driver I’ll pay cash from now on. My F150 I loved until the maintenance and repair bills came while still making that monthly payment
I went through the same thing you did but with a 2005 SL 55 Amg. Stickered for 135.000 they barely gave me 20 grand after 3 years. I will never buy a Mercedes again that sl 55 was the biggest lemon. I had a rental car more than I drove that Sl.
You have easily become be of my favorite car UA-camr guys . I'm 34 years old and I currently have a paid off loaded 2020 mustang gt and I'm about to move into a new build home next month with my wife. We have no kids as of now but you've made me reconsider purchasing a hellcat. My fear is buying a Hellcat 85,000 to go into debt when I could of just Whipple supercharged my current Mustang and be done with it Honestly, I think it is human nature that we are never happy with what we have. I went to go look at a hellcat and the salesman was drooling over my mustang taking photos and videos (not sure if he was just trying to get on my good side lol) but I often get compliments of my strang…. What I'm trying to get at is that old saying.. We usually have what someone else has on their plate… not knowing that what we have is just as good if not better! Thanks if you've read my rant lol
This is so freaking inspirational to read. I drive an 04 sequoia that's in pretty good shape, the other day walking into a convenience store a random woman walking by said "that's a really nice car I grew up in one of those" then kept going on her way. mean while I've saved just about 20k to put down on a cat. Great video but this comment will stick with me for awhile
Picked up my special ordered 23 Scat Pack Challenger back in March. Planned and prepared for it for a long time, put a good chunk down and the payment is reasonable. Really glad I didn’t go for a Hellcat even though I was tempted. Even some friends and family tried to convince me to go for the Cat but they aren’t the ones putting up the money so I ignored them. My Scat is a blast and plenty fast!
Oc I’m 33 and I just bought a 23wb scat for 63 out the door. And over the last month I have been drooling over a hellcat. This video most likely saved my neck. Thanks man I appreciate the wisdom
I’ve been watching and listening to your videos for a couple of years now, Brad. I am truly grateful for your sound advice when it comes to these cars we all know and love. You’ve convinced me to keep my 2021 Scatpack Widebody, while I was on the fence of trading up to an overpriced Hellcat. I have so much usable power for the streets in my 392 and the best part of it all, it’s paid off! I’d rather drive a “slower car” fast, than a “faster car” slow.
Hope you feel better. Just rest. This one is a bit scary. Things are looking very 2009ish, maybe worse. Not sure Ill come out of this one, but all we can do is prepare and keep on fighting.
Still have my 08 SL55; but wrench it myself ... that suspension is $ and work to fix. Cash is king, in business...... self-employed for 25 years. Don't ever buy new unless its capital equipment that is making you money. Toys are purely cash only expenditures, and are consumables. I'm always blown away people getting buried in payments and interest. Good message you relayed.
OC this is the best video you have done. Huge shout out to you for openly going over that experience. Much appreciated! As always you rock man! Take care.
Listen to this man he knows what’s he’s talking about .a few weeks ago went to see trade in value for my 2016 m6 cat with 26k miles.paid 53k used with a 7k down payment .they offered me 35k .
So true with ur life story 👍 this was a down to heart story!! I’m 57 and I done those stupid car buy as well. Nevertheless now I’m in a new house bought 3 years ago with a 3% interest $1,100 pymt. Have a 21 c8 convertible with a $570 pymt and a 24 Toyota Tundra with a $300 pymt!!! If I don’t have a shit load of money as down payment I just don’t buy IT!!!! In Phoenix. Awesome video!!
There’s car giveaway’s like freedom street garage that are going around saying that all chargers and challenger hellcats will be priceless in the future. For them to dupe people into buys by merch for each giveaway that gives the company that gives this stuff away more money than the car their giving away is worth. It’s crazy. It’d be interesting for you to speak on this topic.
Great video!!! Your 100% correct. Always make sure you take care of your needs. Put them a safe distance from all the things that you want. It’s your wants is what gets you into trouble. It’s the balance of life…
I'm middle age. Back when I started driving in the 70s, I always wanted that corvette, or mopar product. I remember thinking, by the time I'll be able to afford what I want, I'll be too old to enjoy it. But eventually I was able to buy the cars I wanted, and that feeling of enjoyment never goes away.
This was a very raw, honest video OC. I have always tried to be financially responsible, but I have a strong desire to buy a “silly” dream car. I want an 81 Pontiac Firebird. I have more than enough money for it [technically] but it’s all tied up in investments to use to buy a house 5-7 years down the line. And I got to take care of my wife! More so, I was born in 96’ so it’s not even my era of car. On top of all the logistics of replacing parts-it seems like such a bad idea. But man something about the authenticity of a below 200 HP 2nd gen Pontiac blowing down the road just brings a smile to my face. Just giving life to a spirit before me would be something I’d want to buy one day.
Ah that famous "German Engineering". They don't last without pouring a mint into them. Not the newer ones anyway. I don't know how many people I have seen go down this road and wind up with an expensive car that is worth less than the repair it needs within ten years. Same thing with my folks' Audi A6. Basically scrap metal in ten years. Meanwhile my 2003 Acura RSX S-Type, that I bought for $22k new, I sold for $9600 in 2013. Never had any non-consumable part fail on it but one oxygen sensor.
Brad u are so spot on with this video,Heres what ive found over years of experience. I am now 51 years old and when i was younger and financed pretty much everything, i found that by the 3rd or 4th month is when reality would set in,It would take 3 to 4 months before my head cleared up enough where that glorious toy i had wasnt so glorious anymore and its not that i didnt like it or got tired of it,that wasnt it at all,It was that payment that didnt go away, that payment that was making it hard to do whatever the next thing was i wanted to do.People have to realize wen u sign on that dotted line that only takes a few seconds holds a burden on u for years to come.I do things very different nowadays ,you wouldnt agree with how i handle my finances but it works for me and i Never have the worries or the stress of making that payment because its paid for, that goes for my credit card bills ,my cars ,my House ,I own everything ,but it took sacrifice to be able to do this.Anyway great video /great advice
@GAsh0012 Most people don't agree with paying cash on a big item purchase ,and in some cases I agree with that also, Brad's situation is different then mine so it wouldn't make sense for him to do what I do /did ,I dont have a buisness/youtube channel that I can use as a writeoff, for Brad it would be beneficial to carry a payment ,were for me with the high interest rates it dont make sense ,I cannot put the money it would cost me anywhere that I will make back what the interest charges would be so in reality I look at it that I am making that money I'm not paying in interest,My friends payment on his car is $868 a month and under $300 (I can't remember the exact #) goes to interest,Thats Alot of money each month ,Yes it will change as the loan is paid down but for now it's terrible...I refuse to pay these new interest rates,
@@frankie072 buying cash is not bad man... These people live monthly payment to payment and are up to their eyeballs in debt. Yah if you can borrow money and put it to work at a higher rate it's theoretically better but, realistically, it's not that easy. Cash is king. In his story, those people that had cash when the market crashed, made out like bandits.
I purchased a used 2014 Dodge Challenger SRT 6.4L cash and i absolutely love it....very fast and fun to drive....It's a manual trans and wow,,,,It sure is fun. i feel like i really don't need a Hellcat, altho it would be superfun, but your right, a SRT, RT, Scatpak,,,whatever,,,is just as fun....Thanks for sharing your story,, i subbed....
Absolutely true, when I was young I was going to buy a new Corvette. My insurance agent said the insurance payment would be higher than the car payment when I was that age so I didn’t. Now I’m close to 70 I can pay cash, I was going to buy a brand new Fully loaded Corvette, but I would have to order it dealership treated me like I was a hobo because I didn’t want the only one they had on the showroom floor. I said really OK. I walked out the door. I’m gonna drive my 2012 ram into the ground. I live in Las Vegas Nevada where they would add $25,000 Adjusted market value to the Corvette Plus $9000 worth of bullshit add-ons
I don't know, when I see someone in a nice car who is young, all I think is that they either have rich parents or live in a trailer and spend evety dime on their car. I've never looked at a younger person, in any car and thought they were rich and successful. Drive a cheap older car, until you really have a lot of money (over 50).
One thing I had to learn Validation is a constant drug, and it feels good When people stop you ask questions say nice car and such but at the end of the day when you lay down at night you have to live with that payment so choose, choose wisely 🙏🏿🙏🏿 because them 30 days come back around so fast
Yep, similar story. I gave up on staying up with the Jonses and focused more on family and retirement. Was able to have a stable of 6 paid off cars, including those I gave to my kids. Priorities. I love my jeeps and will be keeping them for a long time. Hopefully with hemi swaps in the future (paid in cash of course).
Wished I had neighbors like you guys good sense of humor💯.... and I work at a dealership and I tell the salesman I don't believe any of you ur salesman lol I pay 580 a month for my daytona 392 and I thought that was bad couldn't imagine almost 2,000 a month
Love this video and love that you shared ur story. One additional advice perhaps should be to actually stay away from German cars period. I wouldnt own one ever unless it's a lease. That one that you traded, was always going to be a ticking time bomb.
Great story that's why I always watch your vids you keep it real....I have no shame in my lil ole SXT+ Chally lol its paid off and she's been through hell and hot water with me so i call her "The Black Pearl" ....my dream car is a 6 speed scat chalky with a shaker but I can honestly say with how things are I am terrified of ever paying another car note
Right on OC the day that flu and cold are Contagious is this day, the day that you feel better and want to go out . That is exactly when we are Contagious. Take Care 😁
Glad you shared your experience and your correct. Wait because in a year you can pick up a great deal. One year is not that long and save up or maybe pay off some debt. I’m doing the same for a house.
I'm a year older than you and I have a 2014 BMW 3 Series that I bought new and of course it's paid off. Every time I think about buying a car with a $800 plus payment I stop myself and tell myself I want to be able to retire someday so I talk myself out of it. Someday I will probably have to get a new car but it's nice to not have to make a car payment every month and put it away in savings. I have no other debt except my house that is it. In my younger days it was about image and looking cool, but as you get older you realize nobody gives a #### about showing off flashy cars, maybe for a few seconds but that's it.
We’re the same age. Thanks for educating these young guys. I have a 2014 Corvette Z51 convertible. I’m waiting for a C8 hard top convertible with decent mileage for 50K before I move up. And it will be paid for 😂.
Brad, I enjoyed your video!!! That is sound, outstanding advice. I can totally relate and agree with you 100%... Hope you feel better soon!!! John from SoCal
I am in my 60s, and never once did I buy a car on credit until 2006, when I decided to buy a nearly new Crown Vic. That $369.00 payment was the most painful financial mistake I ever made. In 2021, it was no longer worth repairing, and I paid cash for its replacement. I will never have a car payment again. Drive a cheap car and save your money, then you can buy a cool car.

Never again will I ever max myself out on a car. And if you drive stupid like I did living in a Commonwealth state, may whatever the phuck you believe in have mercy on your bank account. One hiccup turns a snowball into a full fledged avalanche.
Your 100% right I bought a scat last July new after everything it came to 65k out the door (no markup) fast forward to this year I wanted to buy a hellcat so here I am thinking I have a 2022 with 3k miles on it I'll probably get close to what I payrd for it, boy was I wrong I did what you said checked car buyer USA, give me the vin all the car buying places and was shocked to get offered 50k even the dealers trade In offer was 50k so now I'm thinking damn I lost 15k that fast, so I went to car buyer USA and all the other places again but this time just for research purposes put in that I wanted to sell a new hellcat with 2k miles and the highest offer was 75k meanwhile I was just going to buy that car for 99k so just goes to show the people that think they are gonna a hold there valve they loose money or the ability to liquidate for close to what you paid as soon as you drive it off the lot.
Hey, OCM….for content like this, is the reason I watch your channel. What you are doing….is a very honest, candid, human, ……even christian thing to do for your fellow men (or women)….
…you are exposing scarred tissue and maybe still open wounds, just to make sure no one else gets hurt. I’m almost 60, and I made my share of mistakes from which I learned and recovered , and now I’m enjoying the results with my Family. 🙏🏾😎⚓️
Thank you! And you’re very right. So many marriages are destroyed over bad financial decisions. 🙏
I don't buy a car in 2023 if I can't pay cash for it.
Good for you
i have a new corvette on order right now been waiting over a year, im a GM of a harley dealer and business is tough after watching this video you convinced me NOT TO BUY IT RIGHT NOW!! i have been in your shoes before, but car guys are always hard to do the right thing.....thanks for this video its like you were speaking to me
Great story, thanks for sharing.
Honestly would enjoy having you guys as neighbors. Definitely a way to liven a mundane day.
I watched the whole video. Great advice. Thank you for taking the time to make it and try to help people.
I went through the same thing you did but with a 2005 SL 55 Amg. Stickered for 135.000 they barely gave me 20 grand after 3 years. I will never buy a Mercedes again that sl 55 was the biggest lemon. I had a rental car more than I drove that Sl.
Oh my God, I'm a total hypochondriac my self............I love your honesty......
You have easily become be of my favorite car UA-camr guys .
I'm 34 years old and
I currently have a paid off loaded 2020 mustang gt and I'm about to move into a new build home next month with my wife. We have no kids as of now but you've made me reconsider purchasing a hellcat.
My fear is buying a Hellcat 85,000 to go into debt when I could of just Whipple supercharged my current Mustang and be done with it
Honestly, I think it is human nature that we are never happy with what we have.
You are right about what you said in 2010 i Lost my job i lost my house in 2013 so i know be careful on what you buy because you never know
Great advice as always. Never sell the Swinger!!
And never vote for another Democrat, of course. Have we all learned our lessons now?
You and your wife both are the bomb!! That front yard setup is priceless.
That why I keep saving my money when the good price go down that when I’m ready
Still have my 08 SL55; but wrench it myself ... that suspension is $ and work to fix. Cash is king, in business...... self-employed for 25 years. Don't ever buy new unless its capital equipment that is making you money. Toys are purely cash only expenditures, and are consumables. I'm always blown away people getting buried in payments and interest. Good message you relayed.
Those SL55 are amazing cars, especially the AMG
OC this is the best video you have done. Huge shout out to you for openly going over that experience. Much appreciated!
As always you rock man! Take care.
This is what makes your channel great! Upfront and honest, im so sharing this to my young cousins and friends
Very good of you to make this video. I’m sure you saved a lot of grief for somebody.
The most important comment you you said to me is "Stop Being Stupid, You Are Smarter Than That"!!! dealing with depreciation values on cars👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I thought my door was defective as well. What I found that helps me is holding my fingers in there for about a second or so and then it will unlock
preach it bro those car are just not worth it and man those payment get old fast glad youre feeling better
This is something everyone that’s thinking about buying a car should look at. I can’t imagine a payment that high.
Bout pissed myself when ya said ,”Bounce your last check before ya die”
Great Video - Great Advice
Your reaction as you guys pulled up had me crying! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
Why wouldn't he agree?
Great advice! As a used car dealer, remember the dealers aren't looking out for you. Cars are liabilities. Great video
Welcome back homie!
that buyers high wears off quick once you open experian and see that loan pops up
I purchased a used 2014 Dodge Challenger SRT 6.4L cash and i absolutely love it....very fast and fun to drive....It's a manual trans and wow,,,,It sure is fun. i feel like i really don't need a Hellcat, altho it would be superfun, but your right, a SRT, RT, Scatpak,,,whatever,,,is just as fun....Thanks for sharing your story,, i subbed....
Great advice. They are always different 2-3 months after you get them. That’s when you know if you did the right thing. Lol
This video was a true blessing I was just planning on buying a hellcat… I’ve changed my mind
Brad glad to have you back mist your content
I'm 81, and enjoy your comments.
Glad you are feeling better. Love your Swinger. Thank you for the great video.
Everything you said is right but most will not listen. Some people need to go the the struggle to learn. Thanks for the video.
LOL.....Car payments suck they hang around your neck like a rotten loaf of bread.
Learned a lot from this video. God bless you for being very honest and sharing this info with us🙏🏽
Wished I had neighbors like you guys good sense of humor💯.... and I work at a dealership and I tell the salesman I don't believe any of you ur salesman lol I pay 580 a month for my daytona 392 and I thought that was bad couldn't imagine almost 2,000 a month
The Halloween display was absolutely priceless 😂😂
Love this video and love that you shared ur story. One additional advice perhaps should be to actually stay away from German cars period. I wouldnt own one ever unless it's a lease. That one that you traded, was always going to be a ticking time bomb.
This was one of the best videos ever.I hope young guys listen .
The skeleton stripper is hilarious😂
Give it three years, there will be amazing deals on Hellcats and Scats, just watch
This is one of your most important videos. We'll done sir.
I have made 4 impulse buys in last 2 years. Yeah I know too well. Getting a cheap truck next and waiting to see what Dodge has for us next
Right on
OC the day that flu and cold are Contagious is this day, the day that you feel better and want to go out . That is exactly when we are Contagious.
Take Care 😁
Glad you shared your experience and your correct. Wait because in a year you can pick up a great deal. One year is not that long and save up or maybe pay off some debt. I’m doing the same for a house.
Thank you sir for this information and for sharing your story.
This was a great story. Thank you for sharing.
Realest shit ever 💯. Definitely taking heed to these words brutha
Best most honest video you have done
Not at all relatable with a hellcat but I’m in the same boat with the SS sedan
Thank You Sir. This needed to be said. Appreciate Your content.
Haha i wish i seen this a few years ago. Thanks OC!!!!
Great video, seriously important financial lesson.
This video is top tier!! You hit the nail on the head!!!
I respect this story so much thank you for sharing
The CL 55 is still a beautiful car would be a great sidecar if you can afford it and really trick it out. They also came with a V12
Thank you for sharing.
We’re the same age. Thanks for educating these young guys. I have a 2014 Corvette Z51 convertible. I’m waiting for a C8 hard top convertible with decent mileage for 50K before I move up. And it will be paid for 😂.
I have the cls 55 amg my baby only made on 06
Another great video OCM. Love the Halloween set up your wife did .💀🎃😂👌
Great Vid💯
Brad, I enjoyed your video!!! That is sound, outstanding advice. I can totally relate and agree with you 100%...
Hope you feel better soon!!!
John from SoCal
I am in my 60s, and never once did I buy a car on credit until 2006, when I decided to buy a nearly new Crown Vic. That $369.00 payment was the most painful financial mistake I ever made. In 2021, it was no longer worth repairing, and I paid cash for its replacement. I will never have a car payment again. Drive a cheap car and save your money, then you can buy a cool car.
I hope you feel better thank you so much for the advice
Great video!
Excellent video man. Needed to hear this
OC I have never had a problem paying for a car because I'm 65 now with no car ❤
Someone out there just has to have that Hellcat no matter the price. Clout is a helluva drug...😂😂😂
