I’ve completely removed myself from buying anything that depreciates unless it’s for day to day living expenses. No vehicles no vacations. Just cold hard work and finish paying off debt by early spring. This next year will be horrifically brutal. I’ll go through it without debt.

Idid what ur doing back in 2012 ,Keep doing what ur doing,I have been debt free since 2013 ,I have a new 2024 2SS 1LE coming home in a few months and I will still be debt free because that will be paid in full the day I pick it up.Its a great feeling to live life not buried in debt.I am 51 btw ,Whatever I put on a credit card is paid in full at the end of the month ,if I can't afford to buy it I dont, and trust me I don't do without,Getting all my debt paid off especially after being crushed in 2007-2008 was the best thing I ever did

@@frankie072 nice. I cancelled my 2024 2SS 1LE manual in Riverside Blue Metallic last month because my salesperson said that I can expect the price to go over the $57k that I ordered it for. He said that I could expect it to arrive with an msrp of just over $60k so I cancelled it. No more depreciating assets until this storm blows over. Time for me to hunker down hardcore. So true man I have a 2022 raptor my payment is 1650 and I can’t get out of it. I worked at BMW making about 150k then lost my job due to getting wrongly convicted of a dwi and even though it got dismissed it’s still not off my record so I can’t get a job to make the same amount of money. I am a hell of a salesman but you are correct my truck payment, gas, insurance is well over 2500 a month. Good video, I'm 40 and have learned from others mistakes and I'm fortunate enough to not have to experience what you went through. I custom ordered a 2022 challenger SP widebody and put enough down to have a $661 car payment because I knew if the crap hit the fan, I didn't want a $1,500\month car payment that I couldn't afford. This is my 1st brand new car and I made it a present to myself for paying off my house and truck. I love my challenger and it's more fun than what I thought it would be. Although a hellcat would be amazing to own and drive, the SP is enough for me at the time. I'll see how the market is when I get it paid off.

More so, I was born in 96’ so it’s not even my era of car. On top of all the logistics of replacing parts-it seems like such a bad idea.

Absolutely true, when I was young I was going to buy a new Corvette. My insurance agent said the insurance payment would be higher than the car payment when I was that age so I didn’t. Now I’m close to 70 I can pay cash, I was going to buy a brand new Fully loaded Corvette, but I would have to order it dealership treated me like I was a hobo because I didn’t want the only one they had on the showroom floor. I said really OK. I walked out the door. I’m gonna drive my 2012 ram into the ground. I live in Las Vegas Nevada where they would add $25,000 Adjusted market value to the Corvette Plus $9000 worth of bullshit add-ons

I don't know, when I see someone in a nice car who is young, all I think is that they either have rich parents or live in a trailer and spend evety dime on their car. I've never looked at a younger person, in any car and thought they were rich and successful. Drive a cheap older car, until you really have a lot of money (over 50).

One thing I had to learn Validation is a constant drug, and it feels good When people stop you ask questions say nice car and such but at the end of the day when you lay down at night you have to live with that payment so choose, choose wisely 🙏🏿🙏🏿 because them 30 days come back around so fast

Yep, similar story. I gave up on staying up with the Jonses and focused more on family and retirement. Was able to have a stable of 6 paid off cars, including those I gave to my kids. Priorities. I love my jeeps and will be keeping them for a long time. Hopefully with hemi swaps in the future (paid in cash of course).

I'm a year older than you and I have a 2014 BMW 3 Series that I bought new and of course it's paid off. Every time I think about buying a car with a $800 plus payment I stop myself and tell myself I want to be able to retire someday so I talk myself out of it. Someday I will probably have to get a new car but it's nice to not have to make a car payment every month and put it away in savings. I have no other debt except my house that is it. In my younger days it was about image and looking cool, but as you get older you realize nobody gives a #### about showing off flashy cars, maybe for a few seconds but that's it.

I am in my 60s, and never once did I buy a car on credit until 2006, when I decided to buy a nearly new Crown Vic. That $369.00 payment was the most painful financial mistake I ever made. In 2021, it was no longer worth repairing, and I paid cash for its replacement. I will never have a car payment again. Drive a cheap car and save your money, then you can buy a cool car.
