      What is the impedance of the old speaker (ohms)? Are you using the factory hu and amp? What is the output in watts of said amp? Is there a p/n on the old speaker? Might as well replace both front door speakers since one is blown and the good factory won't sound the same as the replacement (always replace in pairs).

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely. We are pushing about 100 watts RMS each speaker from our amplifier. A factory radio puts out about 10-15 watts RMS each speaker, and aftermarket about 15-25 watts RMS. Most circumstances, your speakers will sound much better and crisper with more power.

    • @poopy423ify

      You can twist them together if you do it well enough, but in my experience it makes them very fragile and doesn’t last long. The correct mount for the front doors is Metra 82-8901. Now, Metra actually does not have an official mount for the rear, but some people found that the 82-8148 may fit for the rear, as it fits for a lot of toyota's, impreza, and crosstrek. If not, then you can go with the rear mount that was mentioned by the video for the rear on this channel. Very informative content

    Why would Subaru not have the speaker wire harness coming from inside the door to connect to the back of the speaker the wire from the speaker has to go underneath the speaker gasket from inside the panel to outside doesn't make any sense I would cut that connection drill a hole put a grommet around it add wire to it so the factory speaker wire is coming from inside the door to connect to the back of the speaker harness you don't want front sound waves mixing with rear sound waves a gap as small is a sixteenth of an inch can affect sound sometimes dramatically sometimes the engineering corks with Subaru are a little irritating despite that stupid thing love both of my Subaru 2011 Forester and 2002 Impreza Outback great great cars

    • @K03sport
      @K03sport Рік тому

      If it bothers you that much, use some "flex seal" or other sealant to block/fill the gap where the wires exit the outer ring. Subaru is in the car manufacturing business and finds the most efficient way to assemble cars. This does not mean that the cars are engineered logically or perfectly for every sub system. Subarus across the board are assembled this way to keep costs down.

      They will fit, but these alpine Type-R are too much for the factory hu. Your factory hu might output 10w-20w/ch, so it is best to choose a speaker that is closer to that rms value and has a high sensitivity (90+). That way the factory hu can push them appropriately unlike these Alpines that really need/require an aftermarket amp. Think kicker CS or DS series or the infinity es/ex series)

      @K03sport Рік тому +2

      @@TheJeof1000...if you have the 6-speaker audio configuration, I personally think these Type-R Alpines are too much speaker for the factory hu. The larger 8"screen is an upgrade, but unless you can confirm HK/non-HK, the non-HK maybe possibly puts out 25w rms (max). Find speakers that have an operating range of 5w-40w rms (to work with the factory hu) and has a high sensitivity (90+) so it retain some bass capability. The Type-R used here really need an aftermarket amp pumping 75w+/ch for them to perform as designed. Good luck in your speakers quest. Don't overspend based on brand "reputation".

    Those speakers look, spec wise, too good for the factory hu. 100w rms on the replacement is about 75w rms more than the factory hu puts out. Also, what was the sensitivity of the new 100w rms speakers? Unless you have plans to pumps 80-100w to the front speakers w/an aftermarket amp, those Alpines are way way overkill. I just finished installing Polk DB652s on my 2013 Subaru Impreza. A couple things that might be helpful.
    #1 when removing the door panel be super careful around the top rear of the panel. There is a large plastic bracket that snapped off on me. I'd start at the bottom or mid of the door and work outward.
    #2 I used 6 x size 8 1 inch screws and 2 x size 8 3/4 in screws where the bracket gets super skinny to attach the speaker to the Metra adapter.
    #3 there is a plastic bracket behind the door handle assembly that will probably fall out when you remove the door handle assembly. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not this is in place but just FYI...I was too lazy to reinstall it after fitting the door panel back on
