    I tell all of my clients who are getting their vehicle detailed for private sale or trade-in to tell the dealership do not wash their brand new car, not to accept the dealership's "paint protection package".
    I had a referral who brought me his 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 80 miles on the odometer that was heavily hologrammed by the dealership "new car prep" detailer.
    Nice work on the Mustang!

    • @jeremiahbachmann3901
      @jeremiahbachmann3901 4 роки тому

      The new car prep guys wouldn't do that to a new car. If a new Jeep needed that much work, they would hand it over to the body shop so the dealership could charge Fiat more money.

    Who would have thought a dealership would mess a car up like that ?? Great video ... I use to do paint inspection for Chrysler many moons ago and you would not believe some of the stuff you could see ... die marks ... dirt in the paints ... sanding marks ... we caught most of it but it is impossible to get everything ... one man per side with more lighting then you could imagine ... but in those days we pushed out a car every 45 or so seconds ... I would see brand new Vets at the dealership with marks or dirt in the paint ... so believe me Phil if you or I went around a new car no matter the model your going to find something ... So all I can say to new car buyers ... beware your going to find something if you look ... but don’t think the dealership knows everything ... they want to push those cars out the door too!

    Last night I was mentally preparing for Saturday's coating job when I decided to rewatch your techniques from start to finish. Now after watching it, I found out I HAVE to incorporate this video into my prep routine because I simply don't' have enough experience to be at your level of proficiency. BTW that was one long day you put in. Also, I notice that every time I watch it, I see something I missed, that explains a "how or why" to do a better job. Such as when I finally put the pieces of the puzzle together on why you used CarPro Essence. Your explanation on why you use Essence was like finding a gold nugget because it protects the paint by completing two steps in one application, whereas if I had to do another wipe down I could potentially cause scratches or marring. That comment has changed my process and product choices from this point on. It just reaffirms why you stick with one complete and integrated product line because of how they designed everything to work together in order to produce a superior result, which CarPro did when they designed a product line specifically to support their coating. CarPro is now my first choice. I am looking forward to when they announce a graphene coating, sooner hopefully rather than later. Thanks again for this terrific tutorial. I adopted your apron methodology using the two pockets for towel #1 and towel #2, very effective. As you often say, make it fit your routine and I did. I put a yellow MF in pocket #1 on my left side and a light green MF in my right pocket for towel #2 to protect myself. In addition, you reinforced to me how you apply the 3.0 UK with the applicator and then meticulously use towel one to spread out the material and pick up residue and then use towel #2 to continue spreading out the product and wiping off the residue until it flashes away to prevent high spots, and all the time using the light to follow your towel to confirm there are no high spots. Brilliant work.

    I have been a sales manager at a car dealership for 20 years and detail cars (as a side biz) and I am definitely someone who does not like wasting product but I have had my share of new cars that are in very bad shape. Like in the video, go thru the motions. New cars that sit on lots for a long time build up environmental fall out and iron especially ones parked near roads/highways. Great tips on preserving clearcoat as these new cars have very thin layers. Most Fords I have taken a meter to come in around 3-3.5mls.

    9:31, 10:25 - Before I got into detailing for my own personal cars, I hired a “professional detailer” to wash, light polish, and wax my new car. They left marks similar to these, as well as deeper pigtails using their DA polisher. You would think they would be careful and know how to properly polish a new car. End of day, learned about detailing myself, got some decent DA polishers, paint corrected damage they did, and even ceramic coated car with UK3.0.
    Also loved you rocking the old school PC 7424XP with the 3-4 inch pad 23:02. That was my first DA polisher I learned on. 👍🏼

    • @jkroemer2685
      @jkroemer2685 3 роки тому +1

      Sounds like they need to reconsider their career path haha! As a detailer myself it grinds my gears when these car wash guys try to include services they "do", but have no credentials to back it up. Even this simple task and just bombing it, makes the real professional's look bad.

      I still love my old school 7424 polisher too. I've had my first 7424xp since 2011 (before that is was just the rotary). I picked up a pre-XP version and liked it better!

      @@danlc95 - Yeah I upgraded my PC 7424XP since I realized I didn’t have the power I needed to get out some deeper scratches easily (without having to do 100 passes at the same spot). Got a Rupes LHR15, Rupes Nano, and a Flex3401 (when I really need the power). All are awesome and serves a specific purpose for polishing. The Griot’s BOSS G15/G21 is awesome too and much cheaper than the Rupes.

    The condition of this Mustang was crazy! I had a brand new ‘21, black, and the paint was flawless. The dealer either did a great job or something was done at the factory. Full disclosure: dealer related employee here but I don’t know the details of car prep. But we have a Bronco, Explorer, Ranger and in the past an Escape and all those had just average, maybe disappointing paint. The Mustang was a great surprise. Nice Video ......actually a very quality video, nice video no annoying music good sound , I have a Question: at 11:58 seconds on the hood you can see slight swirl marks, does de Quartz coating cover that up ? same like wax
    And why not use a finishing foam pad with the essence since it for high gloss ?

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  4 роки тому +1

      True. It’s just a paint enhancement not a correction. The customer didn’t want us to go any further since he drives it all the time. The coating won’t cover that, but that’s ok. We do what the customer wants. It’s not that big of a deal if the customer is ok with it.
      I haven’t found a pad change to a softer pad with Essence to increase gloss, at least not to me. It think it’s negligible and an extra step that’s not needed. But that’s just me.

      interesting. Its been 7 months? It may also be swirls not reappearing but newly installed just by washing it. It does happen after a few months that new swirls will be induced. Even with the safest wash methods. True it can fill to a degree but we have found that it almost all cases its just new swirls. Sometimes thats just what happens, paint will swirl up again over time.

I have a new vehicle and the only thing I’ve applied thus far is Chemical Guys HydroSuds to wash, followed by HydroSpeed and Blazin’ Banana Spray Carnauba Gloss - both by CG. So just curious if I need to use a product like CleanSlate or Reset to remove wax before decontaminating/clay bar, or if I can just use my standard wash soap (Meguiar’s Gold Class).

      If by yourself yeah it could take about that long, maybe even less time. The important thing is to get experience polishing because that will speed up the process. Also make sure to communicate with the customer and manage their expectations. Most people don’t expect perfection on the paint. And some paint depending on the year, make, model, and color can be either super easy to correct or difficult. That will make a difference in timing also.
