"Just following orders" isn't a defense. No sin by the guys who were outside holding the perimeter- that many guys, someone holds the outside. But they guys who were there with a "cheif".... Someone should have relieved him of command, even if they had to do so noisily, and act.

One problem is that the Supreme Court has ruled that the police are not responsible for anybodies safety. The police didn't kill anybody the shooter did. Why not blame the parents for spending them to school that day

Unfortunately I do not know how the state will get this conviction when the Supreme Court ruled otherwise in the Florida mass shooting. Very challenging I think, but interesting to see how it plays out.

The neglected school security protocols. The shooter walked through 2 unlocked doors. Public and Private Schools should be required to have the same metal detectors and security guards as found in AIRPORTS, COURTHOUSES , POLICE STATIONS AND MOST GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS. YOU CAN'T FIND UNLOCKED DOORS IN MOST WAREHOUSES AND WALMART, LOWES, HOME DEPOTS ect. YET A SCHOOL IS LEFT UNLOCKED. SCHOOL SECURITY MEASURES SHOULD HAVE BEEN MANDATED AFTER SANDY HOOK FUNDING PROVIDED. THIS IS NEGLIGENCE ON UVALDE SCHOOL HAVING CHILDREN PRESENT IN CLASS WITH UNLOCKED DOORS AND NO ARMED SECURITY GUARD PRESENT. THIS SCHOOL SHOOTER MET NO RESISTANCE AND WALKS RATE THROUGH 2 UNLOCKED DOORS AFTER SO MUCH TIME BEING FOR WARNED OF THIS SHOOTER NO SCHOOL LOCK DOWN TOOK PLACE. UNACCEPTABLE NEGLIGENCE ON THIS SCHOOLS ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY. ALL THESE ADULTS WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY AND KNOWING THIS PARTICULAR STUDENT WAS A KNOWN THREAT NO ONE DID A DAMN THING. LAZY PEOPLE

She says "Criminal culpability will not bring the kids back."
True, but it may save children in the future. That is the entire point of accountability and discipline. Sadly the discipline is either entirely lacking or insanely way over the top. It is rarely appropriate.

Asking this question in America is legitimately hilarious and extremely stupid at the same time. You're talking about the suspicious act of buying guns in a country that worships the 2nd amendment. Guns are dirt cheap and insanely plentiful; wtf are you attempting to allege here? "Oh this dude bought a lot of guns in fucking Texas to commit a mass shooting? That's never happened before; spooky!!"

This situation is deeply ironic. Too many cops these days will fall back on the "I was in fear for my life" excuse to justify their use of excessive force. In this case, their "fear" lead to a massive dereliction of duty and the total FAILURE to use force in a timely manner, resulting in the deaths of innocent children. They can't have it both ways.

    • @POPJack1717

80 minutes is ONE AND ONE HALF HOURS... THEY STOOD AROUND and arrested people who wanted to go in and try to save the children... they should all be charged with some accountability even if they were "following orders", that has not been a defence in War Crimes... ALL those who claimed to be in command should be prosecuted to the fullest extent and should have been fired 2 years ago... this was a moral disgrace for those hired and PAID to PROTECT AND SERVE...
NOT standing up for ANY one of these people, as any one of them should have overridden any command to wait or stand-down... but was Arredondo ever officially told he would be Command Leader in a School Emergency or specifically a School Shooting... AND... was he actually qualified to perform that duty? IF he was not qualified or told, then the School Officials are also responsible for incompetence and lack of foresight to PLAN for a disaster... they should also be fired, recalled, or forced to resign...

Let's put the blame where it belongs, squarely on the police. This kid shot his grandmother and stole her truck. The police were called and nothing happened. The kid drove the truck to the school, wrecked it, shot at people across the street and wandered around outside the school for ten minutes. They called the police and nothing happened. Then the kid went through a door that should have been locked and a school room door that should have been locked. They weren't. And even before that people had been reaching out telling people this kid was a danger. This happened because of the complete failure on the part of the police. Not one child should have died if these cops did their job. But if you are saying this is an argument for more gun control that is just not right. Because of lax policies that have made where I and you live more dangerous you don't get to tell me I can't defend myself with any gun I choose. Take another look.

You are the perfect example of why gun ownership should be curtailed; anyone stupid enough to believe that more guns equals more safety shouldn't own a slingshot, much less an AR. If that was remotely the case, you wouldn't be here blaming the Uvalde cops seeing how Texas is armed to the fking teeth. Also Abbott ran cover for the same cops you're talking about in your rambling wall of incoherency and yet you don't mention his name not even once. Maybe you should've been in that school that day, running and ducking and screaming from the same caliber you idolize so much. Maybe you'd learn a lesson in humility if you were.
