My children had playsilks when they were little (35+ years ago) and of course the grandchildren have them too. Children always know what to do with them. They’re tougher than they look, too, so they do last.
Great video! We have some silks (or”silkies” as my 6 year old calls them) that we bought from Sarah’s Silks as well as some we dyed ourselves using koolaid. They are played with all the time in ways I never imagined. As Sarah mentioned, some adults don’t understand initially, but children take to the silks right away and have no trouble figuring out what to do with them! They are one of our most utilized and versatile toys!
My children would take my scarves and play with them these ways. I didn’t even encourage it . It’s so good to hear about this, because I would not know to put them in the play area for my grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
We have a huge rainbow silk that is used for any kind of purpose but also about 10 plant dyed organic cotton squares. They have a completely different feeling but my kids use them tons too. So that's a nice vegan otion.
I've got some of my grandmother's old colourful scarves ready for my 1 year old. They are not made of silk, but I think it's better to reuse what we already have, bringing things to second life and buying less new stuff
Thanks for your question @moongirl497! Mini Silks are perfect for babies and toddlers 6 months through 2 years. The are easier for babies and toddlers to grasp, and fun for playing peek-a-boo, as well as throwing them in the air and watching them fall down. On the other hand, a full size play silk can be played with in the same way and have more possibilities for a child as he grows.
So here’s my Bella Luna playsilks story! I bought the silks like 2 years ago and since my darling girls are not delicate nor gentle I could not gift it to them. So I waited like a year and a half 😮 then I gave it to them & told them how precious and delicate these silks were & to take good care of them yada yada-my daughter leaves it on the floor and the cat peed on it. I am not joking. The very first day I gave them the silk the cat PEED on it!! so then I let it soak in soapy water for like 24 hours-rinsed it out and then let it soak again i’m not sure if that’s what you’re supposed to do, but I did it. The smell came out & the silk is fine. Know what one of them did to the Ostheimer toy I STRESSED to be careful with and not destroy!? She colored the inside of the rabbits ears pink. Technically this is accurate 😆 but I was like ISLA PEARL!!!!!....mom voice.
Nothing's Ever Easy Oh my! Sometimes it really feels like nothing ever *is* ever easy, doesn’t it? So sorry to hear about the play silk mishap, but very happy to hear that you were able to get the odor out.
Can't wait to get some for my daughter for Christmas. Love your video so much. Thanks a lot.
My boys are getting some Sarah's Silks for Christmas!
We just got our first silks and love them so much!

Absolutely, Carolin! Thanks for sharing.
We got some of these for Christmas for our two girls 😍
Oh this sounds like heaven to the soul amongst all the overload of sad toys and devices nowadays.
Can we use Satin cloth instead of silks as they are smooth , have a good sheen and are locally available?

Does anyone have a recommendation for vegan playsilks? I’m in the USA.
Melodie Naturals Vegan playsilks are really nice!
Wish my parents knew about play silks.
